At this rate , in 30 years more of Roland’s Charlton Athletic we will be (in Napa’s and Rolys crazy dead mind) valued more than Man Utd
The valuation is only one thing.. what is paid. Conjecture means nothing.
BTW, in 30-years ManU will be worth £40 billion.
That’s a bold prediction, I will bookmark this page. On the 12/01/2049, page 2326548, be prepared for an old man to pull you up on that statement. I myself don’t think a league 4 team will be worth that even taking into 30 years of a plummeting £.
IF the football assets are still here on February 1st: Taylor, Grant and Aribo, plus the new boys dovetail straight away, I wonder if a consortium could/would gamble and pay an inflated price because they feel a third tier club will be a championship club in a prime location come August. Business acumen and football are a strange mix because of wages taking up so much of the expenditure.
I think that whilst the price has been agreed, the Aussies have balked at the day to day costs that have become apparent. The only explanation for them still being in the picture is that Duchatelet has told them that the costs can be brought down and he is showing them. If it was anything else, surely they would have walked away.
The fact that they are still there suggests that if the price was to come down, it might be more attractive for them. They have to have a plan over a decent period and the numbers will have to add up. It isn't just about how much money you have, but how much money you are willing to commit to a project. The longer it goes on, the more money Duchatelet is losing, so if he could engage his business brain over his ego, and find some sanity he seems to have lost, he should surely see that bringing the price down to get the deal done will probably save him money in the long run, and will certainly rid him of what must be an irritation.
If takeover doesn't go through and we don't miraculously get promotion then who will want to be here next season?
Sarr and Pratley
You love a scapegoat......a totally predictable post coming from you. You never miss a chance to diss someone........it’s strange obsession fella?
Really @SoundAsa£? You sure you’re not mixing me up with someone else?
They’re two of very few players still under contract for next season. Pratley’s coming towards the end of his career and Sarr is likely on a good wage given he signed back in 2014.

Instead of publishing a book of the entire takeover thread, I vote we publish a book of @MuttleyCAFC ‘s contributions. Always wrestling with the relevant issues, rarely angry, never too far from the mark. Vote Muttley!
What doesn't make any sense is that there is a British bid that hasn't done anything. You can explain one party holding off, but not two. I think they may be a bit of dodgy play by Duchatelet to reel the Aussies in. The Aussies clearly want to do it and have decided on Charlton, but they need to have the money to fund what they want to do. I think that is a positive in relation to them. You have to cost your plan and the numbers have to add up. It isn't about your personal wealth.
In terms of players being out of contract, I don't think that is a big issue in football today. There will be players from other teams who are out of contract who may be better. The implication is cost though as bringing players in on a free costs money!

There is 100% a 'British' bid for the Club, which has been accepted by Duchatalet.
I have no idea why they haven't advanced it to completion, hence the speculation that the bid has come from an owner of an existing Club, like Ashley. To be honest that seems more believable than what the Aussies have been doing for the last 18 months.

Possibly.....but I thought you were digging out Pratley on the last match thread....if I’m mistaken please accept my apologies.

Are they still begging round the city for investors?
I think a lot of fans have already decided what the issues are and because the hard information coming out of this meeting, from White and elsewhere is limited and opaque they are engaging in confirmation bias.
If you think it's Ashley then the info from last night points to it being Ashley.
If you think it was leaked to White to hurry up the Brits then the info points to that.
Same for most of the other theories.
We don't have enough pieces of the puzzle to be able to work out what the picture is.
Many of the theories, old and new, are plausible but that doesn't make them true.
But neither can they be proved false. Hence we go over the same ground.

I accept there may be, but I don't see how we can be sure if we don't even know who is behind it. Just trying to piece things together in a way they make some sense. That doesn't mean they are pieced together even remotely correctly.
And over on the site ‘who’s name shall not be mentioned’ they still maintain that they represent the mainstream opinions of the Addicks.......absolutely laughable. We have more people on line at 3 o’clock in the morning than they have all week!
For what it's worth, I'd be amazed if anything happened now much before the end of the season.
The Aussie bid is intriguing, because if a price has been agreed you'd think the only real blocker would be their ability to raise the funds for the relative value. If that's correct, it will also hamstring other potential bids because RD can rightly claim a party is prepared to pay that price and won't budge significantly downwards. It should also concern us that as a result the type of investor and/or the structure of the deal and its funding may well give rise to future issue. For example, if the ownership of property assets was separated from the football club.
What I don't understand is why RD is throwing stupid figures at what we should assume are enquiries from genuinely interested parties. Why should he care who owns the club, provided he receives his price? Very odd.
Could the Aussies have negotiated a period of exclusivity?
Probably controversial, but Ashley's model at Newcastle would probably work much better at a smaller club with lesser expectations, used to a selling outlook. Corrupt practices aside, that may not be the worst outcome in the world, although Ashley himself would be far from my choice.
Frankly, if the deal was right for us in the long term I'd live with Murray still being involved, but I hope for a clean slate with football-oriented owners with moderate ambition to grow the club in the long term, and to value the fans, our identity, and our history. Too much to ask?

Don’t think I said anything other than he should have come off at half time, we had Williams and Clarke on the bench who offer more in attack. I wouldn’t call that scapegoating or digging a player out, they get far worse comments than that.
