If it hasn’t happened by Tuesday i give up to be honest. It’s only gone and happened again. I’ve lost hope. This takeover will never happen
But why?
Why set a deadline for something you have no control over?
What exactly are you giving up on?
Giving up on the takeover happening soon. Jim White said 48-72 hours. Then nothing happened so he said Monday or Tuesday. Now he’s saying Tuesday or Wednesday. He keeps putting it back which just makes me think he doesn’t really know as much as he’s making out too. Happy to be proved wrong of course
Where has that been said? I have a contact at one of the places JW works. Says that JW is a poor journo and wouldn't take anything he says as gospel.
Well he's a journalist, you should never take it as gospel. But of course he has contacts, you don't get to where he is without making a few.
Personally think the stick he is getting is unfair. Not many people out there have cared too much about what has happened to us, he is one of very few who has highlighted that.
any media coverage has been well received by the fan base in general yet white had the opportunity to put across our view point in a meaningful way in my opinion he got enchanted that a billionaire was discussing things with him and getting quite pally and as such gave him an easy ride
The stuff he came out with this week he has left himself open imo as he gave dates and timings the worst thing to do with this subject matter , history tells you that this bloody takeover has been doomed to failure thus far
I couldn’t really give two hoots about him as I don’t like talk shite and it’s scummy sun owned mgmt
But fair play to him for giving it a go
I do agree, he did become pretty friendly. But I still think he deserves credit for at least highlighting our issues, he didn't have to do that.
He has left himself open to some criticism this week, he has set dates and stated it's definitely taking place. We will see I guess.
So we have a geezer on the tele walking down Floyd Road telling whoever who confronts him that Charlton are being sold next week.
F*** me!
And people are lapping it up making white sound more like an attention whore than a decent journo
People I trust that have long-standing associations with the club all to a man (either well prepped) or just down right sensible said approach with caution we have been here before . Nothing is done till it’s done and nothing is done right now
To be fair the bloke was wearing a hat to make himself less obvious and all he was doing was engaging openly with people who spotted him and asked him questions. He knows it isn’t done yet.
Not according to comments I have seen and read that have been attributed to him
Stating dates and hrs in some instances
Granted he had a hat on and was just walking to the game but he does love the attention and the lights on him
Arguably the biggest name in sports TV but yep I’m sure he’s gone for a cold walk down floyd road for the attention, we have lots of reasons to be sceptical after the past few years but some of us seems desperate to put every single possible positive down.
He's not the biggest name is sports TV.
It's Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes.
I literally have no clue who that is. It is Jeff Stelling and Jim White, fact.
Gary Lineker?
Actually, yah... Id go with that
Lizzie is a bigger name then Gary, fact.
Christopher Martin-Jenkins is bigger than both, though he's dead now.
In some ways, it sounds as though LdT is in some way now "brokering" deals for Roland, and if he is JW's source I would certainly questions the motives behind last week's "revelations".
On the other hand, if prospective buyers still have brokers working for them, and they are the source, they are not independent either.
Maybe some on this forum know more than they can say, which reassures them on points such as these, but I will not be convinced until there is harder evidence than is currently available.
So just a thought re some of the things I have read on here: Atlassian = Australian co founded by Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquar (both late 30's which has been suggested as the age for the potential buyer previously on this thread). Understand traded on NASDAQ hence the American connections? Have offices in London, in fact parent co regd in London. Delays in announcing if deal completed hence could be because co announcement has to be made on the exchange they are listed on? Just thoughts but would be nice if it was these guys. Growing company, London club near to Financial center. Certainly not short of a bob or two!
As you say, they are certainly not short of a bob or two.
Jeff Bezos is worth a reported $112 billion - he's not buying us either!
Bezos hopes to colonise the solar system! Off course he is not interested in CAFC! He has more chance of colanising the solar system than he has getting Charlton to the PL!.
A year ago we were being told it should happen next month by someone who is apparently the link between Roland and the fans and that didn't happen , he no longer has any credibility. Now it's JW's turn to be the messenger so don't hold your breath

My drivers used to ring me and say turn on talk sport bob mills and fair play to him Simon Jordan are really backing your fans and giving your owner and CEO a going over
White never followed the same vein but I commend him for being the one that gave it prime time air time and no doubt has assisted in the sale being more in focus for RD

I really hope the source is not LdT. He’s a bigger Pinocchio than Miere.
What I do know is that there is likely to be a shortage of F5 keys over the next few days

My understanding is that LdT is appointed to represent RD and is therefore negotiating rather than brokering the deal.
The broker would be a third party acting as the introducer and go-between, so not LdT. Maybe Harris but who knows? Could be the tea lady at talkshite.

Met Bezos 20 odd years ago through work when Amazon had just started if only I’d known what a feckin mess we’d be in I could have presented him with a Charlton shirt and he’d be a fan coming to our rescue right now. Cue wild stories about amazon taking us over this week!
So I’m dying to get excited about it all but if I try and look at things coldly...
- the big expectations that this is imminent stems from a broker talking who only Jim White seems to know (Rick may possibly now after speaking to Jim).
- The broker insinuates it is very close, so why did he contact Jim to put it out there at that point, not before, or, if close, not once it’s fully done if there was no accompanying desire to release details of individuals involved?
- From what Jim had said there is an expectation that that this would have been completed by the end of last week, then the beginning of next week, then ‘should’ by Wednesday.
- while there are hinted snippets such as nationality and ages, there appears to be no knowledge anywhere on, along with the broker, who the front man is, who the key financier is, who or how many make up the consortium and whether or not there is any connection / overlap with other previously interested parties
My fearful side worries that this wasn’t as close as the broker, and in turn Jim White, was making out, and was a bit of a play on the brokers side to move engagement forward or put pressure on RD to resolve a stumbling block in the negotiation.

But people at senior levels within the club are also saying it's "90%" done.
The regime people lie and distort, we all know that, but it's not just coming from White's broker.
For me if it was so close that it was going to happen in the next 'few days' the actual identities of all those involved would be known and leaked by someone.
I could be completely wrong but it does not sit well that so much about this apparent immenant takeover is unknown.

PWR, Amazon would be great for us, hope you are right. We will even have a tax exemption status.😉
I am getting the feeling that Jim White's claim a deal is close is a lot like Elon Musk claiming six months ago that he had a Saudi firm to buy Tesla at $400 per share... a personality-type prone to unintentional exaggeration while excited and a general inability to separate dreams from hard reality.
So I’m dying to get excited about it all but if I try and look at things coldly...

‘90% done’ is a very odd phrase in relation to a takeover process.
It could mean ‘We have agreed the price, the funding cash flow payments the timing of these, payments under contracts for past players like Gomez, Lookman etc, payments to the ex-directors and we are just having the lawyers write all this up’
Or it could mean ‘We have a broad agreement in principle but there a few very knotty issues in the detail that could still detail the process such as rights over the Valley, training ground, future payments as ex-players perform or move club and we have to resolve these issues before the lawyers can finalise the contracts for us to sign.’
I’m not believing this one until it’s signed and announced

Could also mean it IS done and they are awaiting league approval, which is hard to predict. Sunderland's takeover was hung up by the league dragging their feet.

Hence the broker is possibly, but not definitely, an agent or someone with links to an agent.
