My forecast is mid-Jan due to tax issues. 0zzies are hoping new season will detract attention.

There’s a fans’ forum meeting tomorrow where the club will apparently be represented by Belgian Lieven de Turck. I think he’s the fella who’s handled the vast majority of negotiations with Gerard Murphy. The forum will discuss the sale.
It’ll be interesting to hear what comes out of the meeting, although presumably we’ll only hear Roland’s side of the story.

Did they plan it being the semi-final night? Guaranteed no-one english will show up.
Presume it will start at 7pm?

Seriously.....does anyone expect anyone to turn up????

Thankfully Lieven de Turck will be there, the club is in good hands.

    Is no news good news?

    That is the question.

To be or not to be ?
  • Who would benefit from the sell on fees that Charlton would receive should Lookman and Pope move on this summer?

Surely that will influence the takeover date. Roland will stay on if it means he gets that money as Charltons cut from the fees being discussed would go along way to clearing the problem area of the ex directors loans.

RB Leipzig had a £12m bid for Lookman rejected earlier in the week but are expected to go back with a better offer. They claim Lookman wants to join them.
  • Any sell on fee for Lookman would only be a % of the profit and assuming they paid 10 mill that won't be a great amount
  • More if Pope moves club though.

Colin's now saying Wednesday isn't the takeover being completed but a major step forward.

I reckon Muir has a cheeky accumulator bet on corners and throwins in the England vs Croatia game that stands to make his Betfair account up to the £77m required to purchase the club.

A contingency plan was put in place so that if England were in the semi final, the meeting would be during work hours...3pm, I believe.

However, I'm not sure whether members would be prepared to take leave from their work to attend.
  • Even i knew I couldn’t tell you.
  • Lievan de Turck. Facebook friend of Roland. Listed as CFO at Belgian company dealing in Mergers & Aquisitions. So okay he’s been dealing with that on Roland’s behalf. But representing the Club at a Fans Forum meeting? Bit odd isn’t it, even if he had good news to impart. My worry is he’s the Club’s new CFO and if so Roland appointing a new person to the SMT would not be good news would it.

We beat Belgium world cup final and the takeover is officially completes on the same day

Imagine what an insanely great day that would be.

I agree it would be an insanely great day seeing as Belguim have been knocked out...

Just read the SLP article with Bowyer talking about (probably) losing BFG and Magennis, and the total lack of clarity over contracts for Aribo and Fosu.
Then you look at the squad and see how totally threadbare it is even with those players.
Plus no ceo, cfo etc etc

Just when you thought a RD pre season couldn’t be any worse than the last few. What a mess.

And the biggest worry is; this does not make me think a takeover is close.
If new owners were all but ready to sign then surely players would be told they’d be looked after?

What the hell is the hold up?

Sorry. What is the Aribo/Fosu issue?

Bowyer was unable to provide updates on the contract offers made to winger Tariqe Fosu and midfielder Joe Aribo.

He said: “I know they have been offered but I don’t know what the plans are – that is between the owner, the agent and the players. I don’t get involved in all that.

“I only say who I think our assets are, I was asked who are assets are, and I told him [Roland Duchatelet] that. I’m sure something will get sorted at some stage.”
  • So today’s the day of our next “deadline”. Colin’s “positive news” on Wednesday nicely ties in with the fans forum, where there will surely be some comments on the progress of the takeover.

So Bowyer is purely first team coach and not manager. If we lose Fosu, Bauer and Magennis we are screwed. We won’t be replacing with like quality and the already threadbare squad won’t have a chance of coping.

  • Has the Fans Forum now joined the Secret Society with the East Kent Addicks?

East Kent Addicks, those were the days :) Target 10,000, supporters clubs meetings in the services club in Chatham with Mick E.... Really felt like a great club then that was buzzing and together, i suppose the return to the valley and the halo effect. Really miss those days.
  • When we start receiving lessons in governance from Millwall it becomes evident how rotten to the core RDs tenure has become.

Cast iron fact, I’ve just learned that Simon Walton is NOT the mysterious British consortium and therefore he is not our saviour...

None of the Dowie signings saved us!
  • To be fair, Bowyer is only a caretaker, and hardly has the experience to be negotiating contracts and transfers with agents, players and other clubs anyway. I doubt Mourinho discusses contract financial terms with his players either.

The problems isn't that Bowyer isn't involved, but rather that Roland is involved...

Never going to get that experience then is he. He should be involved if only as part of his growth as manager.

  • Do managers negotiate contracts or get involved beyond deciding who they want to keep?
