Half full 13,500 about 12,000 yes how many do you think
Wasn't there but going by the video above I'd say about 10k at a stretch..... NL 2/3rds, NU not even a 1/3 full, NW + NE maybe a 1/4 full if that, WL around 1/2, WU little over a 1/3. The groupings of fans can give a perception of more people but there are lots of empty seats in amongst the groupings.
10,000 not to bad with all the sh#t going on.
Don't forget it was a Bank Holiday mate and it's traditional for some to make this a pilgrimage as part of their Christmas / New Year celebrations plus it was kids for a quid wasn't it and Brizzle brought 1500.

Your not having kids for a quid wasn't announced till 6am yesterday morning. I was thinking more like people still away, been playing crap,4,000 season ticket holders missing and mid table in League one so 10,000 not bad in my books
Made it to the game today & glad that I did. For 60 or so minutes today, Fanny's mojo returned...
Other Lifers have dissected the match & commented accordingly on individual performances which I agree with on the whole. No-one in the red shirt had a poor game but, if we can forget the dismal opposition, I'd pick out OUR 4 Young Guns as joint MOM. And, yes, that does include Morgan who I felt committed himself extremely well, especially in light of the disgraceful barracking he's been on the end of recently ....but of course, that's just my opinion.
9 goals scored with 2 conceded against The Pirates this season says more about them than us, I feel and of course, one swallow...you can complete the saying as you see fit And we didn't need the services of our own "Jolly" Roger !
What today's result should achieve is a further elevation in the confidence of the squad & that's not to be sneezed at. Unfortunately, what also comes with the territory is an increase in expectations by the faithful and with 12 days until the next outing which just happens to be the BIG one, it would be interesting to hear how the gaffer manages that period. With additions to the group likely during that time, he will need to make some huge decisions regarding his starting line up on Jan 14th. Get it right, and he'll be the best thing since sliced bread. Get it wrong, and the fans will let him know it in no uncertain terms. No pressure then, KR.
Apart from the win itself, it was good to hear some noise from the home areas again and to see some happy faces at the final whistle, both on & off the pitch. The kids in attendance for a quid will have enjoyed seeing some goals for a change too & could be begging Dad to take them again - maybe we'll out sing the Spanners this time. It was also great to hear that @queensland_addick & his girls managed to catch a home win at last before they return to warmer climes. We met at a supporter meeting in Gravesend a few years ago & enjoyed a chat. I do admire the ex pats that support from afar & who look forward to their trips "home" to spend time with family, friends and at their football club. Safe journey back to Oz, guys.
Finally, I made a point of watching SWMBO in the Directors' Box when Big Josh scored the equaliser this afternoon. She looked very animated ( it COULD have been RM next to her pulling her strings ) & appeared to be jumping up & down with joy, bless her cotton socks. Mind you, Sue had just informed her that the half time buffet was ready ....
Thanks for your kind words Jean. We will be at the Millwall game but fly back on the evening of the Scunthorpe game. It's tempting to try to make it in time to Heathrow straight after the game, but I don't think I'll take the risk ! The girls heroes from last Xmas, Hedo and Big Mac have moved on, but they have now adopted Josh, Aribo and Konsa and have thoroughly enjoyed the last two games. We hope, like everyone that we have turned the corner and that this year will bring a change of ownership and happier times. Happy new year to you and best wishes to Mr F for his op, I'm sure he'll be absolutely fine after his treatment. Martin
It was depressing seeing the stewards spoiling the fun of the little 'curry' girl again in the East Stand. It looks to me like she was doing no harm whatsoever, but adding to the colour, even the mild eccentricity of the experience. Of course she would have been in the eyeline of Keohane and Miere, so two huge blokes came over to take her gear and generally tarnish her fun.
Was she there again yesterday?
She created brilliant entertainment in our previous Home Game because she was holding the sign going mental yet what made it all entertaining was aftermath of the incident... the steward who told her to stop walked away and couldnt walk more than a few steps each time without turning back round to make sure she wasnt holding the sign up again.
A right proper petty way of ensuring the steward orders were followed I felt he was almost going: I'm watching you
I tried to get a bit of booing going from the N upper but no one seemed too interested. She's harmless but maybe her artwork is seen as anti regime??
They took her 'curry' placard, and bundled up some artwork she had created on plastic sheets i think. I was told that she had designed her own cartoon character, and her display was the character looking happy and one looking sad. Because we were losing she had put out the sad face, but had the happy one to display if we were winning. rather charming I thought.

Totally agree Seth. How anyone can find this anything else is quite simply ridiculous

For some reason, I find this kind if thing really depressing.
I am sure there is some way that it could rebound on the regime, even if part of a protest was bringing in lots of "art", with which to confuse the stewards (which, I accept, would be a fairly tall order).
I'm not suggesting that CARD "curate" anything, but, given that I am irredeemably pretentious, it would amuse me....
As an aside, assuming the massed voices could be coordinated, how would it sound if we sang part of the theme for Flash Gordon, replacing Flash with Josh???? I've been wandering around with it in my head for the last couple of days.

Maybe you and Leuth could co-curate the artwork? With input from charlton aesthetic.
'Josh, ah ah,saviour of the universe da da da da da, josh ah ah, saviour if the universe, he saved every one of us, saved every one of us, etc etc'
Not sure about that one it's a bit of a camp frenzy.

About 8,500 home fans for a bank holiday game with adult kid for a quid and multiple freebies. Would have been happy with that in the early 1980s, I suppose. Where's Peter Mountfield these days?

In fairness, I wasn't going much further than the dum dum dum dum (ad nausem) Josh ah ah....
Mostly because I was going to claim I don't know the words, unlike some. ;-)

Can't make fans come if they don't want to airman
You can change their minds about that by offering the right mix of ambition, respect and credibility though. The results weren't always fantastic in the middle 90s but the crowds grew because people signed up to what the club was trying to do. And if crowds decline at such a rate as ours have and against trend it is no one's fault but the management of the club.
I imagine Monday's game, or more specifically the second half performance will stop the rot slightly. I imagine a few of the children dragged along will want to come back
Mooch has been banned from @CAFCofficial #ROLAND OUT !!!
From Bip Ling. She has posted pictures which I appear in so I have asked her for Royalties.
I can just imagine the discussion:
"Looks like the fans are having a bit of fun there.
Bolox to that, stop it immediately."
I would imagine that Katrien and her cronies are just massively confused by the whole thing and just assumed that it must be anti regime hence the removal.
I didn't see the girl you are talking about @seth plum, what is a 'curry girl'?
She was in the East Stand end near the covered end. One of her placards says 'curry'.
That's a bit surreal. She wasn't the one who did the graffito outside the dole office in Norman Road, was she? The one that said "CATS LIKE PLAIN CRISPS".

Not true. I'd love to come back but won't until the CEO says that the cloob's history does matter and fans of a certain age are welcome. Or when stewards stop assaulting fans. There are many more reasons but the results and quality of football don't come into it for me.

I would imagine that Katrien and her cronies are just massively confused by the whole thing and just assumed that it must be anti regime hence the removal.
But once they sussed out it was harmlessness on the first occasion they should have left her be in my opinion, not harass her again on the second occasion. No doubt a jobsworth will find a justification but rounding on an enthusiastic and slightly eccentric young girl was sour behaviour.
These pictures were both taken about five minutes into the game so would fairly reflect the attendance. It's pretty clear you could accommodate all the people sitting south of the halfway line in the empty seats to the north of it with something to spare. Even the more crowded blocks of the lower and to the rear of the upper north have plenty of spare seats when you look at them closely.
Assuming a generous 40 per cent occupancy including the family stand that would be about 7,200 in 18,000 seats (excluding the east) in round numbers. I doubt if the east was a third full, but if it was that would then make about 9,000 home fans in total.
For comparison purposes, here are the same stands for the Christmas and New Year bank holiday fixture last year, which was Wolves on December 28th. The official attendance then was 18,059 - including 16,178 home fans, against the official 12,252 with an alleged 10,681 home fans on Monday. Even on the club's own figures, the home turnout was down by more than a third from Karel Fraeye levels (some of which is clearly a consequence of playing in League One).

Thanks CAFC for winning 4-1 when i had a special Birthday for my mum down in Canterbury so missed only my 2nd home match in 5 years. The other one being the win against the cobblers in the 1st match of this season ! Why did Crofts spend the first 4 months of this season passing sideways and backwards ? when he can hit the forward pass. No one running could be the answer. So pleased for Big Josh who has never been much of a goal scorer but took his goals well even if the marking was charltonesque.
Non of this has any bearing with what will happen in the next match.

Maybe, just occasionally.
But in the good old days we were singing from the same hymn sheet.
We may not have had a home between 85-92 but we were not in the mess we are now.
