  • Is he still here?

KR has done an appalling job so far - its fairly ludicrous to suggest nobody else could do any better under these owners. He seems pretty clueless and talks bollocks - if that's what the club wants then he's a perfect fit.

If we go down to L2 under KR and he's kept on then we might as well declare CAFC dead and buried - short of bringing KF back or making KM manager I'm not sure how things can get any more ridiculous.

I think he's exactly what the club wants: he's a willing human shield for Liar & douchebag; he's totally bought into the player farm (and it wouldn't surprise me if he gets kick-back from Aribo & Konsa and others); results don't matter - even relegation... he ain't going anywhere and he knows it - he's full of BS but he's towing the party line... I don't know why, but like Meire, he's an untouchable - he won't be sacked however bad he is.

This is Meire's cloob - her plaything - and douchebag will never admit that he or she were ever wrong: we're fucked as a club, and I agree with others that support the AFC Charlton idea. There'd be no more Valley but, at least, the spirit of the club would live on, without these cancerous owners.

I'd love to be proved wrong, but I think KR's here for the duration - for better or worse: can't see him giving us Conference football but it'll be a scrape to finish 19th this year - but douchebag doesn't care, and Meire's protected for life, so what do they care?

  • If I were RD I would be pricing the club up at -EUR 20m and getting rid of it before my ownership of it causes damage to the rest of my interests over and above that which is already caused.

I think the romantic football fan in you is hiding the facts. I doubt there is anything going on at Charlton that will concern RD's other business partners. The guy is a major force in the electronics world, I doubt they even know of our concerns never mind give a shit.
I can see how my wording has led you down the wrong path here. You have taken when I said 'interests' to mean 'business interests'.

I agree that I can't see the Melexis shareholders, who have seen a 75% increase in share price over the last year giving a shit what Roly spends his money or time on. Probably happy he's leaving Melexis to people who seem to know what they are doing.

If I were Roly I would be worried about continued protests in Sint truiden that affect my standing in my home town, about having to cancel my dancing after home games more and more regularly (I really enjoy lording it around the Revue bar and VIP section), I would be worried about the fact that Carl Zeiss Jena reps are referencing the Charlton protests in their discussions with me, I would be worried that Alcorcorn and Ujpest may start to protest.

    Those interests.
  • He obviously assumes he will still be here in the close season, considering the comments he made regarding building a team like Powell was allowed to do.

From that I would assume he has had assurances from RD and/or KM. Errr.... maybe not here in the summer then.

No way do I want to form another club ie AFC Charlton. I might be dead before we got back to the Football League and we're saying League 1 is pony. It's a no from me. Just get Roland out.
  • Now today was a result and league position that would justify the OP
  • Karl Robinson's enthusiasm has won me over ages ago . His results should be winning most of everyone else. I like his choice of signing (excluding dodo) and I like what he is trying to achieve. He may end up doing it. If he does Then I hope he gets kept on unlike Powell.
  • Took me a long time to be convinced, pre_ season he has got mostly the squad he wants, to play the formation he prefers.
Frustrating last season, players tried in positions not suited to them, made me sceptical of him, but this season has been
the most enjoyable for a long time .
Now feel I trust him to take us forward.
  • I'm glad results are going well, but he's an awfully long way from the sort of relationship we had with SCP.

If he keeps winning, I'm sure that he will win us all over.

    At the moment, however...

Personally, I still worry that he is tactically inflexible, while the persona still grates (and I hate the MK connection)
  • Although we had a fantastic side in 11/12, I can't remember us going all around the country playing teams off the pitch.

    These are getting very obscure.

May be worth a 'People who've died' thread for all but the very famous or Charlton connected?

no more obscure than (e.g.) Harvey Weinstein and 90% of the RIPs on here ... and there are a LOT of aging/aged/old music fans on here would find this of interest, me included

The same Harvey Weinstein story that's been first item on the news every day for the past week?

One of my regrets in life was failing to convince my two mates that we should go into the Marquee one night, rather than carry on with a Wardour Street pub crawl. We missed U2. (But I had seem them the night before at the same venue...!)

Just take a listen to his post match press conferenc at Bradford. The guy is just brimming with confidence and a passion for our club we should all be Proud of .Despite lacking 5or 6 players and playing with some who were obviously not 100% we nearly beat a team unbeaten at home this season. He set his team up to win the game -no disrespect to Slade but he would have played for a draw.I really hope that this could be the start of anew beginning and would ask all of you who have boycotted the club this season to come back to the Valley next week and get right behind the team. They Deserve your support.COYR

Nearly a year on -KR has moved the team on and as I said Deserves all of our support .COYR
  • Although we had a fantastic side in 11/12, I can't remember us going all around the country playing teams off the pitch.

    Hartlepool 0-4 Charlton
    Chesterfield 0-4 Charlton

Just to name a couple of emphatic away wins from that season.

IMO this win is more comparable to the away results at the Sheffield clubs from that season. We hardly played Bradford off the park but we did what we had to do to take the points.
  • I do like a thread that goes on a proper journey.
  • I’m not sure what I think about Karl, I certainly don’t dislike him.

I do think he often talks too much and often think he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

But there’s no doubt he’s certainly turned the team around.

As a boycotter I can’t really comment on the team only on others reactions and he seems to have most of you buzzing.

I’d certainly be happy with our current position, even if the football was poor but to be playing by all accounts good stuff, then I think the man, considering what he has to deal with, needs a round of applause.
  • Although we had a fantastic side in 11/12, I can't remember us going all around the country playing teams off the pitch.

Great performance and excellent result today. Please don't rewrite history though. At this stage of 11/12 we'd just lost our first league game of the season and hadn't been beaten by the two bottom sides in the league. We had recently beaten Sheffield United 2-0 on their own patch.
  • This season can't be compared to 11/12. Not until season end anyway.

  • Robinson has my total support. We've not played football this entertaining for years and I include SCP's record breaking team in that.

I am going to be very pissed off if a new owner wants to replace him.

And me.He is a very good young manager and i love his enthusiasm. We are lucky to have him.
People moan about him not having a Plan B. They always said that about Curbs and SCP as well.
  • Not for me there’s something I just can’t take with him , he has the team playing well and he is getting the results I just don’t take to him

You are a hard man to please NLA. Let us see where we are in December.

    It's called 'prejudice' NLA!
  • I'm with @NLA on this, after all we are 10 pts behind Shrewsbury.

It really doesn't matter whether you like Robinson.
I mean who likes Neil Warnock ?
Arsene Wenger hasn't exactly been loved by all the Gooners.
Jose Mouhrino's a twat etc etc.

It's about, or it should be about, whether or not he's doing a good job and he clearly is.
He has my backing & I try to ignore the nonsense he spouts. I listen to it, but I don't let it trouble me.
  • I am not warming to him at all or getting over-excited about being ten points behind Shrewsbury Town in League 1 with one competent striker who is already knackered.

The football style is much more attractive but time will tell if the third tier of the English football league is the appropriate place to employ it.

The recruitment is less insane but unlike his unfortunate predecessors in the abject Duchatalet era, Sir Gobby has been allowed to run his own ship (to some extent) because the owner is bored and the CEO has been gagged. Otherwise, he would probably have been sacked at the end of last season.
