Saw Gillan/Deep Purple last night at the O2. What a voice.  And was mighty impressed with the Support band "Reef" too

Bob Vylan at Electric Brixton this evening. Great gig. Bloke has amazing stage presence and looks like he genuinely loves what he is doing.
  • 30th anniversary of bugged out @ drumsheds tomorrow. Chemical brothers, Modeselektor and 2manydjs sets.  I am too old for this shit.......
  • Went to see an excellent performance of Das Rheingold at La Scala Milano

  • Squeeze last night at the Albert Hall, excellent, but only 9 out of 10 as they didn't do Down In The Valley, hard to believe I know.
I looked at your post and saw the picture above of Das Rheingold. ‘Squeeze have changed their act’, I thought.
  • Amyl & The Sniffers at The Roundhouse for me this week. Looking at Setlist they are playing 20 songs in a 70 minute set so you can see what sort of gig its going to be!

While you were all were miserable tonight either at the Valley or watching the stream, I was at Sunny Sweeney in Glasgow. First saw her at The Luminaire in Kilburn in 2007 and have loved her ever since. I laughed and I cried  - gig of the year for me.
Jings, life repeating itself. Another fantastic Sunny Sweeney gig tonight in Glasgow - so happy that she's coming to the UK. Next up the wonderful Pearlfishers on Friday in Falkirk
  • I saw English Teacher at the O2 Shepherds Bush last night. Their sound was excellent and the music is very mature for a young band with one album. Highly recommend. As for the venue, they let in too many people. When 200-300 people have to stand at the back with a big bar selling overpriced drinks half blocking the view, it smacks of greed. Otherwise, a good night.

  • Tubular Bells 50th anniversary tour, final gig in Portsmouth last night. Grew up with it, amazing to see it performed live.
  • Got a nice run of gigs down in Brighton over the next 5 nights; Meryl Streek, Deadletter, Joe & The Shitboys, Walt Disco and finishing off with Aircooled on Sunday.
  • Chantel McGregor and When Rivers Meet at Dingwalls last week
    Both terrific performances
C McG and WRM's Grace Bond have splendid voices

Enjoyment of gig tempered slightly by the proliferation of sociopathic shitforbrains who talk throughout the performances - or rather shout to make themselves heard over the amplified guitar based blues/rock on stage.  If your conversation is even vaguely important you'll find it far easier to have it somewhere, anywhere, else cos you won't shout yourself hoarse and more importantly won't piss off all around you while disrespecting the artists, not that that registers at all in your tiny self-obsessed shrivelled walnut of a brain, arseholes all.

Saw Kingfishr at Shepherds Bush last night and it was also full but an excellent set from a band that could well go on to have a great future.

I've always thought it bizarre having a bar in the standing area as opposed to at the back/side.

Couldn’t make this one, but love their stuff and great live.
  • Got a ticket to this Gaza gig at Brixton, featuring Weller, Primal Scream and Paloma Faith.

Always good to see the Modfather at an intimate venue, especially with it being a shorter than usual set. Primal Scream are brilliant live too.

I’m at this one too. Had to give up tickets to see Paul in Edinburgh in July, so good to get to see him now and Brixton is one of my favourite venues.  Saw Primal Scream there a few times as well and always a great live band. Looking forward to seeing Kneecap too.
  • Has anyone been to the live venue under the Spice of Life near Leicester Square?

I've seen a couple of mates' bands there recently and the sound it garbage! They run the amps through the PA, which is ott for such a small venue. Anything over a certain level turns to mush.
