Vampire weekend last night at Brixton. Cracking gig. Supported by China Crisis. There’s one for the oldies among us.First time back at Brixton for a while and they really pack the crowd in these days. Was rammed.2

BrentfordAddick said:Whilst many of you were suffering, I was at Hammersmith watching Paul Heaton. Top stuff. He introduces his band by name, instrument and team supported. So hello Tony Chapman (I think), keyboards, Charlton Athletic. Got a decent cheer in the building, to be fair.
Sometime touring keyboard player with Spandau Ballet and Tom Jones band member
He was Martin Kemp's musician sidekick on that program on BBC a couple of years ago that got a bunch of crumblies together to play a song at Isle of Wight festival0 -
Within Temptation at Wembley Arena - tremendous theatrical show with added Tarja Turunen (formerly of Nightwish). Wembley Arena still a shitty hole massively overcharging for piss poor refreshments.
Michael Monroe at Electric Ballroom - MM as energetic and entertaining as always
Quireboys at Islington Assembly Hall - Spike and Nigel on decent form, ably assisted by their current retinue of hired hands making this undoubtedly the tightest and most professional Quireboys lineup in their entire 40 year history
Robert Plant and Saving Grace featuring Suzi Dian at New Vic Woking - sparkling virtuosity
next up Rick Wakeman being christmassy at GLive with son Adam and singer Mollie Marriott

Gaza aid at Brixton. Very disappointing from a personal view as the organiser Weller only played for 25 minutes.
Loads left after him, but waited an age for Primal Scream due to endless speeches about Gaza. Still £150k raised and PS, as always hit the spot.
Brilliant 30 minutes set from Kneecap.2 -
Just been Pete Tong Ibiza classics at O2
cracking tunes.Little bit battered, not gonna lie.3 -
My first gig after my hip operation and delighted it was this one. Seeing Primal Scream at Brixton Academy for the first time in 11 years. My first time seeing the brilliant Kneecap and (my musical hero) Weller pulling it all together. Weller doing Rocks with Scream as well 🙌🏻. Good contributions from Liam Bailey (plus Maverick Sabre and Weller at one point), Lowkey and Paloma Faith too, with Annie Mac compèring. A great night and a significant sum raised for medical aid for Gaza.4

Sam fender at the o2 Tuesday night. He has really stepped up his confidence in front of large audiences and band as tight as ever.New songs maybe not as catchy as first two albums, but he has to grow into a career now rather than rinse and repeat.Howden Aldi Death Queue will forever remain my favourite song about COVID (and great to bop along to at his shows).1

Starting to put memorabilia up in my 'museum', the Blondie gig at a leisure centre in Reading was off the scale.
We were having a beer in the bar where people were walking down the stairs having played badminton or squash etc.
We opened the folding doors to a 5-a-side and Blondie were setting up
The best period of my life......
Wembley
Clearing the mortgage
Off to Australia for the Ashes a few weeks later

The Prodigy at Brixton.
I’m not a great fan, but went anyway.
Their fans seemed to enjoy it, so it was probably good.
I would describe it as a never ending boom, boom, boom for 1 1/2 hrs, every “song” pretty much the same, very boring.
Apologies to any fans.0 -
The Damned last night at the Roundhouse - absolutely incredible show for a bunch of fellas in their seventies, the Captain had the lurgy and it was still a fantastic performance, and a great set-list.
Tonight at the same venue was cancelled - Mr. Sensible forbidden to play, doctor's orders. Shame as it was the last show of the European tour - if they reschedule, I'll be there in a shot!

Lisa O’Neil singing alongside a full orchestra at The Barbican was really something special. She was obviously over whelmed playing alongside an orchestra , but she grew into it with every song. Her voice , body language , and the other worldly atmospheres she makes with her songs combined to create an incredible experience. The audience really loved her work and each song was applauded for a long time, with s modest Lisa O’Neill then asking ‘ is this ok ? Works from her most recent album, ‘All of this is chance’ really stood out , it’s a fantastic album that really went under the radar .0

Just on my way back from seeing The Popguns (for about the 40+th time) in Brighton.
Obviously I am biased, but I’ll never understand why a band with so many great guitar pop songs never ever got a break.

Reytons were on top form at Brixton this evening. Just a shame they are starting to attract a lot of knob heads as they are getting bigger. Some real twats in attendance.1
-
Kairos supporting in the end then, saw them support the Lilacs a while ago, lively! Looking forward to next week then.
Rifles on top form tonight, 15th time I think. Four or five new songs coming alive on stage, just brilliant hearing them, and koko is probably my favourite of the London venues.1 -
For anyone interested, The Reytons have released the video of the Clifton Park show from the summer on Amazon. Well worth the £7 if you are a fan. Didn't realise quite how epic the gig was while I was there.0

Just got tickets to see the Smashing Pumpkins in Colchester. A band I've always wanted to see... Hardly anyone at work have heard of them, but everyone in their 40s is dead excited!0

Peter Perrett at Islington Assembly Halls last night was amazingly good. His son Jamie is superb on guitar and they have the great John Cowsill on drums. Mixture of Only Ones classics and stuff from his excellent new LP. PP in great voice.2

Franz Ferdinand at Shepherd's Bush and The Wombats at the O2 coming up for me next month
