  • Goal!

Free kick into the wall, a bit of pinball (with some rather comical efforts to swipe towards goal), ball fell to Williams who tucked it away.

    1-0 82'
  • Charge into our box stopped by Big Hec
  • Both players down
  • Shot by Casey ? Offside
  • Deserved win even if we played a few "ringers".

Hector imperious, Taylor in control, Fiorini more involved than previous U21 games, Gough solid.

Good to see the big lad get on after so long out injured.

Williams worked hard and played well all game and got his reward in the scramble after a poor Taylor free kick pinballed around the box.

Interesting that they played out from the back despite a high press as they have done for seasons rather than Jones' more direct style.
  • 1-0 win hard fought very even in 2nd half
  • Has Louis Watson ever played for our U21s? Interesting that Fiorini is getting games, but Watson isn't, maybe Fiorini being 21 he can play as a U21 whereas Watson at 22 would be overage, where there's competition for the slots?
  • There was a point during our injury crisis when this might have been a first team kind of

Finally....we have a manager who understands that giving minutes to players who do not make the first 11 is more important than not.

  • Going to miss this, doh!

No messing about here and looks like Edun in midfield
  • So Zach Mitchell, who hasn't kicked a ball in anger for over two months because Colchester have too many players on loan, can't get into either our or Colchester's U21 side

  • Has Louis Watson played in our U21s before?

Don't remember seeing him before, but he's been here a while:

Just a young player going through a spell of extremely low confidence IMO.

I would keep him around myself. Think there’s potential for him to be a decent player still.
I know what you mean - and his confidence definitely took a hit under Appleton - but he doesn’t seem to have experienced the same upturn as the rest of the squad under Jones. Maybe he’s just not suited to Jones coaching methods, or maybe there’s something else going on, but I would have expected a rebound from him by now, even it it was just cameo appearances at the end of games where his pace would be really effective.

    1-2 Edun
  • Nice goal by Edun, curling it in with his left foot. 1-2

Nah, let him go. If we want to be challenging for the top two auto spots then we need players who can come off the bench and make a difference.

Tupac is nowhere near the finished article and we need more polished players than rough diamonds next season
  • He's only 20. He's surely to be judged as much for his potential as to what he offers at the moment.
