Considering her and her husbands position at the club she really should learn to keep her opinions to herself . If I was Chris I wouldn't be happy at all.
Also, if Roland undermines Katrien constantly and it's never her fault, why put up with it? She could walk away quite easily and let him do his own dirty work, or employ another puppet to do his bidding. I have no sympathy for the woman whatsoever.
"Katrien takes flack because she has been paid to, she is employed to run the the club and is the one that has to front everything, she is Roland's spokeswoman and is the face of contact. That's the position Roland has put her in, most people in her position would have resigned, I get that she takes a lot of crap but she does bring a lot of in on herself, smirking like she hasn't got a care in the world, taking pictures of the protestors out of the window and laughing, using very bad analogies to describe supporters, the 2% comment was priceless (gave us a lot of material to use though), the lying and I don't care what you say she has lied numerously, she maintained for a while that Powell wasn't forced to play people and then got caught out. Taking a holiday to Dubai whilst the club she is supposed to be running is fighting relegation. Telling people they are not allowed to look out of Windows, banning sponsers from sponser events just because they don't like her (again don't care what you say they paid money to the club and bought the rights that all sponsers have its not her club and it's not her money she has no right to ban anyone). I haven't got enough time to list everything she has done wrong I'll need about a month but Roland isn't to blame for all of it. In a job like hers she has to take to bad with the good, she didn't mind it when people were shaking her hand in the street and kids were asking her for her autograph and people wanted selfies with her, she don't mind it when she gets to front television interviews and conferences and I'm pretty sure she gets a bloody good wage too, but yet anyone questions her or gives her negative criticism and she starts crying about it, if she can't take the flack and the negative feedback as well then She is in the wrong job.
As far as Powell is concerned if you really think his sacking is no different to Phil Parkinson's then I have to question where your head has been the last 18 years? Seriously? Chris Powell club legend gets is out of league one with record points filling the stadium and getting us back on track for the first time since curbs left, then finishing in the top half of the championship and if it weren't for interference from Roland and he was given the free reign to play his own players and control the transfers then we would be pushing for the premier league now not back where he fault so hard to get us out of, but as your friend Katrien said "every manager change has been the right one" never mind the statistics they obviously don't have statistics in this Belguim place you talk about, the one that is so different culturally to England as its all the way in....Europe...
I don't think we're going to agree ever, because I see the whole picture and the club I love being destroyed and the heart and soul being ripped out and trashed like Floyd and Harvey never to be seen again, you are biased your husband works with Katrien and you "like her" so you want to see the best, you'll see what you want to see and you'll believe what you want to believe there's nothing I or any other open eyed supporter can say that will make you change that. The fortunate thing is you are part of a selective group, you are a minority (I'd say about 2%) the rest of us are on this planet. Your Facebook group, if you delete everyone that's anti regime you'll lose over half plus at least one of your admin that I know supports CARD. You see the anti group are growing more and more by the day, and, by Roland being stupid enough to needlessly let us get relegated, the most unnecessary and avoidable relegation in our history, he has strengthened the very force that stands against him. Basically this is a war we have been invaded and we are fighting for what is ours and we will win, why? Because we care and he don't, the heart always prevails.
Let's leave it there and agree to disagree, I don't wish you any hard feelings and I hope whatever happens in the future with the club that Chris's job will be safe. Be happy and healthy...I'll leave you with a few happy memories...
Well put Sadie. I particularly liked this polite line;
As far as Powell is concerned if you really think his sacking is no different to Phil Parkinson's then I have to question where your head has been the last 18 years?
Also, if Roland undermines Katrien constantly and it's never her fault, why put up with it? She could walk away quite easily and let him do his own dirty work, or employ another puppet to do his bidding. I have no sympathy for the woman whatsoever.
It does confirm what I've always thought about Duchatalet. He is the worst possible combination of absentee owner and micro-manager.
I have met Chris & Sue. Chris is a very decent, hardworking, efficient chap.
If we get a new owner he is 100% a man to keep. No question.
Sue appears to be far more outspoken and aggressive. Well she was to me at any rate. She came across as a rotweiller, although this was no doubt because I was critical of the way the club is being mis-managed.
I can't imagine, Chris has a hope in hell of shutting her up, even if he wanted to (he may).
I was speaking to club officials including Chris, but Sue never let either get a word out, when on the face of it, it was nothing to do with her. I was not addressing her.
I think some of what Sue says above is valid. However, she is only looking with one eye.
It's everything she doesn't say that is telling. We could all write hundreds of pages of what is wrong and it is simply not down to mistakes. It's down to ignorance, foolishness and stuborness.
Incredibly naive. Got to assume she is partly articulating what her husband can't really say as Club Secretary. Either way it's a poor reflection on decades of good loyal service from Mr. Parkes.
Yes, Sue Parkes is putting her husband in a difficult position to say the least. by making statement's which some may believe reflect those of Chris Parkes.
So, Chris Parkes will be damned if he does speak out and disagrees with his wife's utterly stupid and ridiculous comments and damned if he doesn't.
I suspect that Sue Parkes made the comment out of some kind of misguided loyalty to her husband and an equally misguided loyalty to a CEO who commands no respect from the football community at large and from the majority of the Club's own fans but who, by dint of the kudos that comes with the post of CEO has surrounded herself with a close-knit group of disciples who will blindly follow her over the cliff.
It is these people who will tell Katrien Meire she is God's gift to Charlton Athletic in all she does and says to the extent that they will nod vigourously in agreement when the CEO tells the incredulous assembled press that each managerial appointment proved to be the right one and then, further down the line, that relegation was caused by a mixture of player indiscipline and a lack of managerial continuity.
Looks like the history of last season is already being re-written by Katrien Meire with the protesters now being blamed. I guess Katrien twigged too late after she'd said it that if the managerial changes were partly too blame then this would reflect badly on her. Not to worry, just re-think it and spread the word that it was the protesters - that should be easy enough to do when you have devoted followers hanging on your every word and beholden to the Club to go out and drop this new insult into the mix.
Truly getting sick to death of the way Katrien Meire has run this club, treats fans with contempt and has lied and twisted her way through over two years of total incompetence and yet, and yet, there are those like Sue Parkes who cannot seem to accept that there is anything amiss and is quite prepared to attach the blame for the club's relegation on anyone but the CEO or the regime at large. It beggars belief it really does.
It is interesting that Sue says dear Chris is putting in 60 hours a week. I know that he actually works during those 60 hours too. I have frequently seen Katrien Miere arrive on Saturday afternoon matchdays well after 1pm. We know that apart from Dubai she frequently goes elsewhere during the working week. I am guessing here, but my considered estimation is that if Chris works 60 hours per week, then Katrien probably works about 10. Which is fair enough because if she worked more she will mess up more.
"I don't hold with protests in any walk of life. I think they are a disgrace."
You might not agree with our protests but maybe, in the last 116 years of any walk of life there may just have been 1 or 2 issues worth getting out of your chair and shouting about?
Another reason not to take any notice of her ramblings.
So those million plus people who protested about going into Iraq were a disgrace, as were the Suffragettes. I would imagine this protestor in America was a disgrace too. Causing all that disruption and whatnot.

(Irony there, I'm going along with the absurd statements which SP started)
What's the phrase @Henry Irving sometimes uses? Groupthink?
Strikes and protests are supposed to have an impact.
The alternative is to do nothing.
I would love to see your reply
She is pretty much a professional apologist for RD and co, and its impossible to take anything she says seriously.
