Bit of 'pressure' end of first half (Charlton in opposition penalty area). Good Shout for a penalty from the right wing but ref bottles it. Set pieces bit poor. Total absence of any width from the left wing. Very pedestrian friendy. A few passes being strung together. Half time 0-0.
I am commenting on what I can see in front of me. I have not said it won't get better, although I wish it was already better at this stage to be honest.
I thought they looked more lively at Welling (didn't see Bromley).
I take it you mean a shit comment from me, rather than a shit performance.
Thoughts on the first half and yes I know it's only pre-season.
Midfield of Jacko, Crofts and Foley is about as pacey as 3 slugs on rollerblades. Must keep hold of Tex if we can, he looks solid . Calum harriott is not a footballer . Holmes very quiet. Novak will be a massive asset to us, looks class in the air and holding the ball up .

Nah I think he means shit performance... All friendlies have a pointless zip to them
Johnson is the professional equivalent of a Sunday pub team player. Thinks he's better than he is and thinks being abusive to everyone else's errors is showing rowsing leadership and will cover up for his own many mistakes Blokes an embarrassment.
Game looks very dull, and unfortunately this could be something we have to get used to this season! Johnson and tex could be disastrous if plaid together if against speed, the whole midfield look second best too!
Can't say I'm too excited at the prospect of having an aging and slow defence if Buxton signs, same too for the midfield should Crofts and foley sign! Think we may have a lot of pressure on the attack department!

OK.
I thought pre season results don't matter, but we seem to take the ponderous safety first option every time, instead of taking a few risks by moving the ball more quickly and trying a few more first time passes.
I wonder if our Friendly fixtures have been setup deliberately based on todays performance i.e.
Welling / Bromley purely about fitness Anzhi is about working as a team defensively (i.e. Anzhi are better, fitter and are seeing more of the ball so allows Slade to see what we're like as that will happen this season) Maccabi and RKC havent got a clue Leyton Orient might be the opposite to the Anzhi game, i.e. learning to break down an inferior opposition Ipswich again similar to this Anzhi game

I'd be quite amazed if Slade has even begun talking to the squad and working on the training ground about transition and phases of play. At this stage it's about fitness, fitness and more fitness. He will give instruction and see how a player responds but it's far too early to analyse movement of the ball etc now imo.

We have this shit every single summer
