I'm hoping that she will melt into the background more and more now that Slade and the new head scout are in place - its not a case of forgetting the last 2 years, its a case of ignoring it - they will not be forcing me into DIY or Bluewater trips instead that's for sure although each to their own - buying on a match per match basis seems a bit of a half hearted protest effort to me and one that is possibly anticipating an RD departure a little way into the season - one which is possibly reliant on the team doing badly - i'll be hoping the team do well 1) for the obvious reasons and 2) because I believe that will see the back of RD quicker

I want the team to do well, so do most people. However, I'm not prepared in July/August to place my trust for the next next nine months in this regime.
Similar optimism was expressed at the start of the last two seasons. By February 2015 we were holding a protest meeting in Woolwich - and by Christmas we had Karel Fraeye as manager.
For me that is not a basis for trust, but each to his or her own.
fair enough but I will be there however the season goes - my season ticket purchase is not an endorsement of the regime or based on how the season goes although had they not changed strategy at all, I may not have renewed. All or nothing for me.
Interesting times ahead. The owners have hired a British 'manager' who seems keen to stamp his authority on the club. He is slowly building a back room team and the signings, IMO, seem decent. I abhor the happenings since the Belgian take over, we have horribly regressed into league one. Other than sell leave, which the Belgians seem unlikely to do, what will the fans tolerate? If we play well and look like possible contenders for promotion, do we get behind Russel Slade, if he is supported and aided by the regime? I suspect that Roland's biggest hope is that fans will live in the present IF we start to show success.
I will only b attending Northern 'away' league games due to my location.

Seeing as the season hasn't started yet, how can we be so sure they have dramatically changed their strategy? The transfer business has not yet concluded and we need to look where we are when it is over.
well an english manager, an english head scout and 3 new english players with experience of the league they are playing in is definitely a change of strategy

didnt say it was a cast iron guarantee of anything but a definite change of strategy however blinkered you are
You're a dream poster boy for the regime. A few early signings and you think there's a fundamental change by these owners? Might want to wait and see what the squad looks like first. You could also guess that it was a calculated move to sign 3 english players before they start offloading anyone with a chance of bringing a fee in. No-one knows yet do they and it's nothing to do with being blinkered is it? Why the constant cheerleading?

why the constant sniping at everything i say? it s a fact there has been a change in strategy so shove it of you don't like it - if there had been no change, i would have questioned whether to renew so however entrenched you are just accept that not everybody sees it like you alright?

How is paying RD £xxx.xxx for a season ticket anything other than an endorsement of him and his regime?

I don't endorse rupert murdoch or anything he stands for but i will not cut my nose off to spite my face as i want access to the football on tv and therefore i subscibe - its as simple as that. I want to go to the valley and so i will - ive seen enough to tip the balance for me - if you find my reasoning too compelling and disconcerting if you are abstaining then don't read my posts. Even buying a match by match ticket is an endorsement in your eyes.

You're the one that comes on here telling people they're blinkered and saying like it's a fact that the Belgians have changed their strategy and philosophy. It's unbelievably early days and they have done a lot of damage to the club and have zero credit in the bank with a lot of fans. I think Slade is a potentially excellent appointment, we'll see about the players and whether they are good replacements for the inevitable departures, I hope they are. I will give them my support as I supported the team last season and as the season approaches I'm excited for it to begin. But to say I am willing to forgive and forget the things the owners have said and done for the last 2 years will take a bit more than what's gone on in the last month. Good for you that you feel like everything is now sorted and I don't expect you to see it like me, but you are on here constantly banging on about how things have changed so don't be surprised when people challenge you.
In 2014, during the first summer the Belgians were in charge, three of our signings were:
Franck Moussa (proven in the UK, albeit a league below)
Igor Vetokele (Quality, and quite a coup)
Johan Berg Gudmundsson (Full international who scored a stunning hatrick against Switzerland)
Does anyone remember what happened that year? I'll give you a quick recap - Moussa barely made any appearances due to a mystery injury and Vetokele was playing (often up top alone) with an injury, an injury so bad that he ultimately considered giving up on football and has yet to actually recover.
By Feb 10th we were 20th in the Championship, just three points above Millwall in the relegation spots.. Millwall who ultimately got relegated. We'd also bought in Roger Johnson, Chris Eagles, Tony Watt and Christophe Bloody Lepoint to try and dig us out the shit.
So yeah - these have been three decent looking signings... and what? Let's judge again at the end of August.

It was a genuine question Doucher. I don't understand how you have rationalized in your own mind that you are not endorsing RD, even though you are paying him money.
For the vast majority against the Belgians(me included), I imagine there is not a lot they can do to regain any trust from the supporters.
However, it has been a good appointment of manager, and on the face of it three decent signings.
I am still waiting on the departures and the next f*** up by squirrel face BUT possibly Slade has been given assurances on his role and recruitment and he can turn it around.
I am still very very sceptical of this lot and nothing surprises me anymore, and would not bet against Slade not being our manager come May.

I have not renewed as this was what CARD asked of us. I will not renew/buy tickets until the season has started. I will be going though.
Support the team and not the regime is the battle cry and I don't see how you can support the team from your local shopping centre so I will be going to games, which fulfils the first part of CARDS aim. I will not be buying merchandise, food or beer at the ground. I will continue to support protests. This to me covers the second part.
As far as I am aware, CARD have never asked for a boycott.

It is a fact there has been a change in strategy. I have never said all is now ok or the last 2 years are forgotten or indeed this is anything other than a temporary change. I have seen enough change however to renew and most I go with feel the same. That's it in a nutshell. I understand all you are saying and the fact that you and others on here are so entrenched that you feel you can do little else so fair enough. I'm just hoping as many as possible renew now so I'm only in a half empty stadium rather than a three quarter empty one. I can respect your position but you will not stop me coming on here and airing my views occasionally, even if they don't align with how you are going about things. I'm all for - one out, all out - but this isn't politics or a strike - its a football club and the rules are not the same. Not for me anyway.

Because I have had a season ticket for over 30 years and its what I do. I had one at Selhurst - hated the place, I had one at Upton park, I had one under the spivs etc etc - I won't be buying merchandise from the club shop and any other extras but I will not let them stop me from going to football - its what I do and it is an unavoidable consequence of being allowed in, that you have to pay for it. Its really not difficult to understand. Do you think every chairman in the league is counting every season ticket and thinking all those that have bought are endorsing them?
I have almost bought a season ticket several times, but when it gets to it i realize that this guy will only leave when his experiment fails, and a massive part of that is to have a collection of clubs that are all successful.
As long as there is a boycott with an empty stadium and no fan base spending week in week out, Charlton can never be called a success.
The protests must continue! My cash will be put into traveling to abroad to spread the protests through his network of clubs!
Every £ spent at Charlton makes it all the harder to remove this virus. That is a FACT! justify the spending however you want.

What boycott? Have I missed a CARD announcement?
Why do people need to wait for CARD to tell them what to do?
It could be argued that Katrien is getting what she understands / wants from a 'business' from some - a customer base like that of a restaurant or cinema - don't like the product, don't pay to get in as opposed to paying to get in but complaining. I bet she will enjoy the match day experience much more if most of the hard core protesters are elsewhere. Just another way of looking at things of course, no need to reel out the counter argument.

There is no evidence of a change in strategy, merely a slight, maybe temporary change in implementation. That's all.

Because if we stick together we are stronger?
I'm not saying ignore them I'm saying make your own decisions as well
Common sense surely dictates that spending money on Charlton will go into Roland's pockets thus make him less likely to sell.
Choosing a British manager and not a foreign coach along with a respected chief scout and the signing of three British players with all the rumours regarding more also being British is a change in strategy.
What it doesn't prove is that we will have a competitive squad and not left criminally short like in the other years of RD's ownership.
If when we kick off at Bury we have a squad fit for the rigours of league one football then I will be pleased. It's hard for a leopard to change his spots. I'm reserving judgement for quite a while yet.

I made the decision to boycott the Valley long before CARD was born. Only attended one game last season because I had too due to sponsorship and this year will be the same.
