I'm happy to knock RD and KM all day long but I don't believe that Wilder was ever going to choose us over Sheff Utd. They are a much, much bigger club than us and it was no secret last summer that we are a basket case.
All our involvement did was establish that Northampton would let him leave and secure his salary a at United - I read everywhere that we pay well over the odds and he probably took our written offer straight to Bramell Lane.
His family had lived in Sheffield while he was managing at Northampton. He was never going to come to us. This is before we consider how difficult it would be for an employment contract to establish exactly who has the right to sign players. At the end of the day RD has to stump up the money and can (and does) sack managers more than any other Chairman in the league.
Bigger club than us.....WTF!
Just about every measure suggests that they are a bigger club than us. Had we not had the Premier League years we'd probably never have had an attendance close to 20,000 at The Valley - frankly, I doubt that we would even have a capacity as large as 20,000. Let's remember that people like Airman Brown moved heaven and earth to get bums on seats in the Premier Leage years and the cost of doing that, and the discounted seats were only possible because of the Sky TV money. Sheff Utd have been stuck in this division for five seasons and they are still pulling crowds over 20,000. I'm not sure how many we've had that big in four seasons in the Championship, but I doubt we'll see one that big again any time soon.
There is no shame in not being a massive club and this is before we factor in the, literally, thousands of fans that have recently stopped going that may well never return.
Not only do I think it is unlikely that we will be promoted this season, I'm not convinced that those running the club care either way. I think this club is going to get much smaller before it starts to grow again and I'm not convinced we will ever get back to the position we were in fifteen years ago.
@kings hill addick Agree 100% but the time will come when us fans have to get involved in the rebuilding once again.
Bring a pal to the match Talk-up the club at every opportunity Launch new community projects Promote ticket and travel initiatives.
We will see 27111 again and have the Valley rocking like old times, but we need to get rid of the Belgians first.
The early Belgium agenda was to rid the club admin of true supporters and cut dialogue with fan groups etc - this stuff will need to be reversed.
My son was a mascot a few years back and Parky asked him to be involved in the team talk beforehand - a fantastic memory that will keep him a CAFC fan forever. Small things like this, done by real CAFC footy people, are what will make us great again and increase the fan base.

Parky is a real gent.....no question!
It does make you wonder why he worked with Pardew.
