Now that's how you get a contract deal done. Why did it take us so damn long to get nowhere?
What you talking about we had the deal done and dusted by Tuesday evening , can't do anything about Sheff Utd speaking to him after that ... Hence on Wednesday he asked for more time ...

The club were fuming you leaked the info and pulled out.
They are going to give the job to Jackson just to spite you.

Live love, love and be happy.

Henry has the copyright for that last bit.

  • If we were a more straightforward club to manage I'm sure CW would be our manager by now. Unfortunately, whatever efforts there might be to run us more conventionally in the future, the precedent has been set at the club and quite understandably someone like Wilder had to think longer and harder and do his research before accepting the job. I'm not sure he was trying to flush Sheff U out, but the delay gave them time to come in and once they did I don't think we can blame him for going there instead.

Bottom line, if they hadn't made such a balls up of the last 2 years, he probably would have signed within 24 to 48 hours of our approach.

    Amended
  • Not defending the regime - but if NTFC released statement about Wilder first then we had no option but to do the same.If discussions had been conducted in private then he would probably be our man.But it alerted the Blades and the rest is history. If given the choice I think Adkins could do a good job for us.Hopefully RD will still try and get a British Manager in.But then again.....

  • A signed agreement? Signed by Katrien Meire only perhaps?!

For a lawyer she seems rather laid back about a breach of contract?

Charlton have already identified alternative candidates to Wilder, who she claims lost interest after an approach from "another club".

"It got out, we got a signed agreement, there was a clause in there he had full control over player recruitment, but he gets approached by another club," the 31-year-old Belgian told Press Association Sport.

"We're looking now into the process and we have several British or English experienced managers. We're looking into it.

Completely non-committal in regards to a new manager and even the "overhaul in transfer policy"!
"It's too early (to say how transfers will change" ... Erm aren't you supposed to be recruiting players now? How could it be too early to say if you're 100% changing the transfer policy?

Even when she talks about wilder and how his head was turned ... She Just puts the blame on everyone except her and her master!

Well WE knew about Wilder last week, so I'm sure that Sheffield United were aware! I imagine the big change came when they decided to sack Adkins

Came out that Sheffield United wanted him yesterday, it's hard to believe anything she says really but I definitely believe this, he's known to be a bit of a prick if you like when getting jobs. He's now in his hometown club, and didn't have to move his family. It's worked out for him just at the hinderance of us.

Yet he was ours if we'd allowed him a say in transfers.

In this case I don't think it mattered if we did give him control over transfers or not ( and I think we did) he was always going to go to the team he supports - who wouldn't ?

I wouldn't, at least, not to the team that Chris Wilder supports (or am I getting things wrong again?)...

Have you seen the contract that states that?
  • United wanted him yesterday, deal was done last night but announced today, they couldn't get rid of Adkins quick enough, so they've now had something like 9 managers in 8 years!

Apparently CAFC couldn't agree to CW terms, and he walked away very quickly as soon as he knew he was wanted at the sty.

So here we are again with them having yet a new manager and seemingly going to win the league, although CW needs to read the script because will they back him??

In fairness to Colin, have you seen the contract?
Nobody knows the truth, or won't until either CW or his agent speak, even then there is no proof, just their side of the story.
CW could come out this morning and say it was all agreed, they gave me full autonomy on transfers and team selection, but Sheff Utd came in late for me and I couldn't turn down my boyhood club, people on here would still blame the club or KM.

I despise this regime, but only 5-6 people know the truth, the rest is rumours and opinion.

I understand that there is a Head of Communications post empty at Charlton (amongst one or two others). Katrien Meire is looking for someone to support the spin put out at the club. May be you can give it a shot @colin1961. It'd be the perfect job for you.

I'd be happy with Adkins as long as he had control. What he achieved with Southampton was very impressive. He is the same person I assume!
  • I wouldnt mind Adkins... He was impressive even with Scunthorpe

i.e. Remember the fact that we played them the first game of the season when we were relegated from the Premier League and they deservedly got that 1-1 draw with us
  • Yep it is obvious we offered Wilder full autonomy, Meire even offered him a daily foot massage and chips with gravy for breakfast, but he was only playing us along until his beloved team came in.......the scamp. This regime are marvellous they have simply been let down by managers that have deliberately under performed and players that have been too lazy to maintain fitness under the under the mismanagement of the aforementioned managers. Everything they have ever done has been correct but others have let them down.

In fairness to me, I wasn't making a statement that anything was a fact.

We have, yesterday, heard part of one side of the debacle, I'd hazard a guess that none of us actually know what was being offered.

If the contract being offered had been everything that Wilder wanted, I would have expected him to sign for us on Tuesday. Based on nothing more than the "bird in the hand" argument.
