The frightening, and I mean really frightening, thing about this is there will still be supporters, sorry customers, who will say he really has changed and did go after a British manager.
Really? Even if he'd been appointed, I don't think a manager who'd just won League Two and never coached above that level would have impressed that many.
Given what Rich Cawley and Large have said, I think it's clear they genuinely wanted CW. I'm genuinely curious to know how many not on here or on Twitter had even heard of him. If you were going for a publicity stunt, why go with Chris Wilder?
Like Airman I believe that they wanted Wilder. However they are not prepared to offer the terms and conditions that would secure a man from Northampton. You imply that you were not impressed with a bloke who had only won League Two. Well we couldn't meet his demands. If we want a British manager it seems we need to adjust our sights a whole lot lower!
If Wilder does come he will presumably be reporting in to KM in some form or another! Whatever he is promised, he will soon learn it is all LIES! So how long will he last. How can he galvanise team morale when someone in the background he reports to is destroying it? Should be an interesting summer!
Blimey saw through the lies quicker than I thought he would!
Wilder walking away gives further credence to the football village and wider business story of how poorly Meire is running the club, her CV really is getting direct hit after direct hit. She'll soon be in a position where her business reputation will be so tarnished she'll have to rely solely on the RD network for any and all future roles.

And I think it shows how poorly run this football club is because I don't think they want an English manager, they want an English coach, but they struggle to see the difference. Everything we've seen and heard about Wilder indicated that he'd want the traditional manager's role, full control over transfers, and Charlton are not going to give that to a manager. So from the off they were barking up the wrong tree.
I've argued that a manager shouldn't be given full control over transfers, as I think it's antiquated. Obviously the problem with the club is we don't know who (Roland) is in charge of transfers at present.
I'm also curious as to why they thought it made sense to bring in a manager and then a Director of Football and Chief Scout. If they're not going to give the manager control over transfers, then surely that would be the DoF's job, with the Chief Scout and Manager reporting to him. And if the manager did have control over transfer, what would the Director of Football's role be? It makes me wonder what all is going on with Lennie Lawrence, IF the manager is in charge of transfers and IF he (Lennie) is being lined up as director of football (big ifs, I know), then what would he be in charge of exactly?
I suspect things are far worse than simply having a lower league manager turning us down, I don't think the club even knows what they want or why they want it.
People in the football business like to tell us it isn't like normal business. Doesn't seem that way to me.
You budget for the third lowest wages in the league? You end up in the third lowest position. Or worse, if you spend the money badly.
You are a club in the Third Division, and you offer a job to a manager who is also in the Third Division and is seen as a rising star. You are one of several businesses interested in getting him. But you have the reputation as one of the worst employers in the business. He decides to turn you down.
Not a mystery, not witchcraft, not rocket science. A perfectly normal set of business outcomes.
As I said. Doors are closing. Even the non credible candidates will be turning their noses up.
This is all about Meire imo. He bought this club for her. She runs it her way.She will never be bought to task or sacked. As long as Duchatelet's here ,so will she be. Nobody will tell her what to do,no matter how good it is for the club. That's the remit. The very fibre of this club is under threat because of a senial old scroat and his attempts to woo and impress a young girl.
There it is. Black and White.
Roland chooses the managers. She didn't hide her disgust in the office when she found out Bob was being hired (she knew of him from Belgium and actively disliked the man). If we do end up with the Upjest guy, it'll be very interesting to see Katrien's next move......
Pretty certain he won't be managing us again anyway!
A bit strange that. There was an agreement in place that allowed Charlton to talk to Wilder, but "no approach was made?" Wouldn't Charlton being allowed to talk to Wilder mean that an approach of some form was made?
Also, sorry about my earlier post, didn't realize you were Northampton. Agree with the above, brilliant user name.
The redesigned Valley prepares to welcome our next head coach. To prevent disruption, netting has been retained in front of the new North corridor/fire exit.
Katie---- Kat --- remember all those 20 applications you waded through in 5 nano seconds before appointing our " Alex Ferguson " ? Do you still have them ??? Might be worth digging em out and seeing if any are still available------- might be a tad more difficult this time now that we have improved after every managerial change, could take you over 2 mins before you give it to Nobody Vineger

O yes and my other thought was fuck off out of OUR club

No way did we end up with the third lowest budget in the league, not a chance. Roland himself admitted we had gone over budget. Which makes the whole thing even worse.

I reckon this is Pinocchio getting her own back on all those nasty Charlton fans, she really is poison isn't she.

KM....
As predictable as it is hilarious.

Once the inevitable happens we’ll get another patronising, fiction-filled statement welcoming O’Loughlin or Vinegaric.
If it’s the St Truiden reject they’ll probably even 'justify' his appointment by saying they always wanted a British manager. Bastards.

Just when you think KM's credibility couldn't get any lower!
