You have 12 months left on a contract. The side you took in January is a mess and in all probability will get relegated.
However, you believe done the way you would like it with the board's wishes you stand a good chance of going up next season.
But, then you wake up and remember that the owner and CEO are suffering from mental health issues and its best to resign before your own career gets more tarnished than it already is.
I too think he genuinely cares for the club, its players and fans. He has principles, unlike a certain CEO, and has resigned. I admire him for it. Most would have taken RD for every penny especially as he was hard done by the first time round.Good Luck for the future Jose, any job must be better than this!
Chris Wilder was manager at Halifax Town when a group of incompetent directors couldn't even arrange a proper administration and instead the club was liquidated, he lost his job, and a new club had to start again 3 divisions lower - if he cannot identify incompetent club owners by now then he really only has himself to blame.
OS can't even be bothered to post his comments which is disrespectful imo.
They are disrespectful about everything at the club so why should managers get special treatment - the pathetic attempt to stop the clubs supporters getting onto the pitch while Burnley had no such problems, the searching beforehand etc. etc. just demonstrate how the regime now see the club's fans as the enemy.
from what I have heard it won't be Wilder, he has more sense, and has been advised to steer clear by a couple of people from whom he has sought advice.
Believe what you will, but anyone that spoke with Jose during the 2 periods he was here must surely recognise that our club is very close to his heart.
I do realise that words are cheap & are easily dismissed at difficult times like this but it's also easy to tar everyone involved with this train crash of a season with the same mucky brush.
Jose had one of the most difficult jobs imaginable when he was brought in to replace Mr Charlton himself, SCP . Not only was he tasked with keeping our club in the Championship but he also had to hit the ground running in terms of getting onside a squad of players who were very close to their former gaffer.
From speaking with players at the end of that season, it was clear to me that they had a great deal of respect for him and enjoyed working under his leadership. And of course, he did what it said on the tin...But, our owner knew best and Jose's services weren't retained.
As others have already stated, Jose appears to have insisted on a "proper" contract this time - one which would allow him time to mould a group of players over time into a decent team without outside interference. Naïve, you might say, but laudable IMHO because he WANTED this one; wanted another chance to show what he could achieve at the club he'd formed a bond with in his previously short term.
And, who knows what promises Roland the Rat made this time. Who knows if Jose was told he'd have the final word on transfers. Who knows if Jose was told there'd be no interference in his team choices on matchdays.
But , alas, we know only too well that the Rat's promises are meaningless. In this instance, I feel this may be one of his biggest mistakes thus far. He's lost the services of an honourable, committed man who was willing to give working under the regime one last chance, for the sake of our club. Now, RR has a demoralised group of players that will be inevitably weakened by the loss of decent, if not better, players with the prospect of a 7th manager under his "rule" and facing a very tough season with little continuity.
However, in his favour, this could be the beginning of the end of this despicable reign of horror.
The football world & his wife has been made abundantly aware of the madness of King Rat, thanks to CARD and the great media coverage obtained. Why would any prospective manager /coach/Director of Football wish to break bread with this egomaniac ? Additionally, why would any self respecting player want to join the circus ? Could we start the season with a squad of players akin to the Blackpool 9 ? So many questions, and only lies for answers.
So, Jose has done the honourable thing - nothing unexpected there - and I salute him for doing so. Those of us that heard his "goodbye" speech at last Sunday's dinner, will know that he was quite emotional and had clearly made his decision already. I believe his players will be sad to see him take his leave & I echo their sentiments.
Good luck for the future, Jose. You deserve so much more and I hope you find it where your hard work and commitment will be fully appreciated. It was an honour to have met you.
The last dozen games we have seen the best football from CAFC and easily good enough to stay in the Championship - in fact, SKY commented that CAFC would be in top half of table as such.
Mick McCarthy said he simply could not comprehend why CAFC were bottom 3 as we have some really good players.
The arrival of Teixeira and Fanni and the return to fitness of Diarra made the difference - who was behind bringing in Tex & Fanni?
Pride comes before a fall, Katrien & Roland - too late now, we've fallen.
Riga is a very good coach and I am regretting renewing at this moment.
Agreed, very thoughtful and heartfelt by Fanny. Riga is a very likeable guy and let's hope he gets a good appointment somewhere soon. Thank you for your efforts.Jose.
cheerio. network lacky who couldn't bring himself to openly critic the board when he resigned but talked in riddles instead. Got players back fit, spent money bringing in decent new ones and still had a dreadful win ratio. He is only made to look decent by the sheer incompetence of Peeters, Luzon and Fraeye but they are probably the 3 worst managers in the clubs 110 year history.
I'm not sure how much input Josè had in our top-up signings but while we were in trouble before Xmas, the cavalry didn't arrive until mid-Feb and apart from TeX, few had any recent game time and took a while to get up to speed. Contrast with Rotherham who took immediate action in January and had an easy path to safety.
When will you people realise the terminal damage this rancid regime are doing to this football club??
Respect your sentiments but no income for CAFC then no business and no club. I renewed because I want there still to be a football club at Charlton.
You're forgetting that most will renew the second a new owner comes in. Your £300 won't make a lick of difference in keeping the club solvent - it only keeps the current owners optimistic about rebuilding a new fan base with your statistic.

Riga is a very good coach and I am regetting renewing at this moment.
In the first half we played top half football easily, and that 11 might even be chasing the playoffs were the likes of Igor and Kashi more fit and in form. We switched off three times at the back and conceded three goals.
Do we really need to have the season ticket renewal argument on every thread?

Everyone wants that.
By showing complete solidarity will show this owner that he clearly is not wanted. By buying a season ticket you are putting a tick in the box for him and giving him an indication that things are not really that bad which, I'm guessing you don't agree with.
Do you honestly think that giving the likes of Duchatelet and Meire a lump sum of money will keep the club afloat? Not a chance. She's probably on her way to DFS in the morning with your £300.
No income for Duchatelet means no Business for HIM to be here.We need to hammer home that sentiment. The whole thing needs a change. It went stale pretty much the day he walked through the door. There are alternatives. If he stays there will definitely be no club.

If we're going to talk about solidarity then we should talk about sticking together as supporters, regardless of how we choose to protest. This is a deeply personal decision for many. To start to split ourselves into "Tickets" and "Non-Tickets" will benefit the regime far more than 300 quid. Right now there is no empirical evidence to show that a reduction in revenue or season ticket purchases will drive Roland out. Not renewing is a principled stance, and one which I applaud, but like everything else there is a chance it won't work.
We all support Charlton, most, if not all of us support protesting this owner, it's just that we may do it in our own ways. We need to respect that and stay unified as one group of supporters who want Roland out.

Agree. Played excellent football in the first half. Anyone who cannot see the vast difference in the way we are now playing, to how we were playing over Christmas, must be blind. I was unfortunate enough to witness some of those games culminating in the tripe delivered at Colchester where we played like a non league team. But with Riga now gone, I fear most of our decent players will now also move on, whereas Riga may have been able to persuade a few of them to stay.

Much better football with much better players in the side. I think the players would have moves on anyway .
Agreed that the players wanted to play for Riga though . I doubt we'll get anyone better

Charlton had half the met police in front of the covered end by about 10 minutes from time.

Lucky while I was slightly tipsy to speak to him at the Player of the Year Awards.
He confirmed then that he was not prepared to stay of he didn't have control.
Precisely he said 'I would love to stay, but there are conditions, to stay an be controlled, that is not for me. I am not that guy.'
Riga is a very likeable guy and let's hope he gets a good appointment somewhere soon.
