I've always thought (and, for some reason, I was thinking about this the other day) that we're really East South London rather than South East London. If anyone asks where abouts I'm from I'll either say "south" or "south east" but never "east", therefore the part of London that Eltham/Greenwich/Charlton inhibit could more accurately be described as the East part of South London, not the South part of East London.Riviera said:

Personally would say Fulham are bigger. Only recently they was in the prem, recently played in a European cup final and regulars get 20k plus. And that's a genuine 20k. Same with QPR, only last season they was in the prem, regularly get a genuine 17k and would get more if their ground held more. A more realistic list that I think most neutrals would agree with would be....

But taking entire history into account we were one the biggest teams in the land in the 40's, were in the Premiership longer than QPR and Palace, have a bigger ground, sold out most games when in the Premiership, finished higher in the league, and haven't been in the 4th tier for a long time.MillwallFan said:

Ultimately it was difficult to put the top six in order based on the trophies they'd won but because Arsenal have so many titles I thought it would be difficult to place Chelsea above them based on one Champions League title whilst Charlton come ahead of Queens Park Rangers because the FA Cup is a bigger competition than the League Cup.

I think the amount of seasons in the top flight has to be a major factor - which pushes us higher.
I just hope Man Utd win the cup so at least we still have that advantage...and when we won the cup no-one fielded weakened teams it was THE CUP.0 -
What Palace, Charlton, QPR and Fulham have in common is that all have had and will have decent spells in the top flight, but none can be considered permanent members, or largely permanent like West Ham, who've been relegated but generally come up again.
I remember QPR nearing winning the title in the 70s, I remember them in the 3rd tier.
Fulham had many years in the top flight and provided Cohen to the WC66 team, but nearly fell out of the league.

I personally think Spurs are bigger than Chelsea
1) They would (and will) get much bigger crowds than Chelsea in a bigger stadium
2) Chelsea's success is mainly recent, and as a direct result of a super rich owner.
