Today was my heart shock day. I'm pleased to report I'm now back home and my heart is back in sinus rhythm. It took two shocks today and they had to increase the amount of anesthetic they gave me. Tomorrow is a day for me to rest and providing I have no adverse reactions I'll be back at work on Wednesday. My chest is very sore due to having two lots of electrical current zapped through it, but I just hope that's it now, and things continue to improve. I've been catching up on here for last 30 minutes and it seems to have been an interesting day where the Trust and the club meeting is concerned. I'm taking this Saturday off the match thread, but will be back for the final game against Burnley. Thanks RedM
So pleased to hear your getting better Red, as for this week, I will be missing for helpful? extra pieces of information this week and possibly the last game as well.
RM you'll definitely be missed on Saturday, but can't imagine those MBMs are good for the old ticker.
The fact that you've gone from 18% functionality to 45% in just under a year and a half is pretty incredible. It speaks so highly to what I imagine has been a lot of hard work and stress on your part, and the fact that your body is still in good condition. Trying to get off the meds is a fantastic goal, but what you've already accomplished is fantastic. Kudos to you, and may it only get better from here.
Hi all, I have some more news on my condition and also a plea for help. Charlton Life has supported me and followed my progress since my heart condition was diagnosed in Dec 2014. As many of you know I have managed to fight back and move into a much better condition, I have had 2 cardioversions (Heart shocks) both of which worked, the first one lasted for 3 months, but sadly, the second one only lasted 2 months and last week I went back into AF, my heart is not beating properly again. Weeks and months of hard work has now been lost and I'm waiting for whatever is decided next for me. I am also now off work due to a kind of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. This PTSS has been caused by me concentrating so hard on getting my heart to work properly again, that my brain/mind blocked out what had happened some 18 months ago, now its decided to remember it and I'm now suffering from PTSS. The last 10 days have been a right kick in the teeth, but I will not let this beat me, I just cant. I will let you know what is going to happen next as soon as I know. Now for the plea, Mrs RM (Angie) has agreed to complete a parachute jump in July to raise funds for the BHF. She needs to raise £400, or we will have to pay for it ourselves, so far she has only raised £100, so I'm asking if maybe some people on here want to help. I sometimes get about 1000 views on match threads, if you could all give £1 then we would easily make it. There are lots of calls for help on CL, and I fully understand if you are unable to help on this, but if could help then I would be eternally grateful. Pleased for you...Having been through health scares, I completely remember the feeling of getting good results - even more important than football results....Good luck...
RM, as IA and myself are the only people left in the Last Man Standing competition, i am sure that IA wouldnt mind me donating the 10 pounds that i had ringfenced for a charity of the winners choice towards your cause - is that ok IA? - if i win, then you can have all 20 pounds.

That is very kind of you @The_President. I really didn't want to come on here and ask yet again, but CL is more than a football/Charlton forum, its a community and one that the forum owners and contributors should be proud of. Once again my heartfelt thanks. God bless you Sir!!
My mums husband just got similar news, after an incomplete operation done with fitting a pacemaker, he was hoping they could finish the job and it would have a permanent benefit.
Just been told not possible for him due to other issues he has.
I hope for you that you can break the PTSS In particular and that hopefully later they find a way to help with the heart issue.
I'm absolutely stunned, I posted this plea for help just a few hours ago and many will still not have seen this, however I am humbled and dismayed to report that you have pushed the amount to £450 - you are amazing, just so amazing. Mrs RM is so grateful, and is now in tears at your generosity (and very scared as well!!!). Please don't stop giving - we are trying to help save people's lives, my thanks, my total and humble thanks to you all, you are a community that many other forums would be proud to be part of...........THANK YOU!! just THANK YOU SO MUCH.....god bless all of you.
RM am pretty sure that jumping out of a plane is still less scary than the sight of you in a mankini :-) Can't donate right now, but can you bump this at the end of next week? You may get some more donations after pay day :-)

Sending you lots of love fella, get well soon. We've got Bury away on August 6th you know, would love to have you back and fully fit for that.
Come to think of it, I have NO CLUE what stressors you could have in your life that could be making things worse .
Seriously though, get well soon. I can only imagine how hard it is to summon the strength for the god knows how many times, but I have full faith in you that you'll find that strength again.
I just wanted to let you all know that thanks to the generosity (again) of members of this form the total for Mrs RM to do the parachute jump has risen to £610, that is just amazing. Mrs RM would like to thank each and everyone of you for your donations. Please accept my thanks as well. On my health update I'm still off work and my GP wanted to readmit me to hospital last Friday, but my cardiologist said there was no need but I'm also not allowed to go back to work. I'll update you all when I know more. Once again our heartfelt thanks - CL has stood proud once again.
Mrs RM has completed her parachute jump just a few minutes ago and would like to thank everyone on here for sponsoring her. My thanks to you as well that's another £1000 to the BHF. Im glad she just back down safe to be honest. Thanks everyone!!

I'll post a picture when I can.
Can't you get KM to do one but without a parachute?
Sorry for resurrecting this thread but I just wanted to share some news with you all. I woke on Sunday morning feeling something had changed with my heart, I felt different as well. I immediately checked my pulse and was surprised to feel that my heart had gone back into normal rhythm (sinus) on its own!! Seeing as I had been back out of rhythm since June (after my last cardio-version in April only lasted 2 months) and another 'shock' treatment had been booked for November, I couldn't quite believe what my pulse was telling me. I then checked my pulse another 5 times during Sunday and got the same result. Consequently I contacted my cardiology nurse on Monday and she advised me to get an ECG done so they could see if what I was feeling was indeed correct. I had an ECG yesterday and the results were faxed to the cardiology department, 30 minutes later I received a phone call telling me that "Yes I am back in sinus rhythm, and that the cardio-version in November has been cancelled" Basically my heart is now working "near normal", and has fixed itself, with the use of a new drug I was prescribed 2 weeks ago!! I now have to take things easy for awhile and let my heart continue to strengthen further. Its fortunate then that tomorrow I'm off to Lanzarote for 8 days. No match thread from me this Saturday, I'll be sitting in the heat of the sun maybe having a cool glass of beer!! To say I'm over the moon is an understatement, I have no idea how long this will last, but to know my heart is currently 'near normal' is a great feeling and there is no reason to think this could well be permanent. Get in!!!!!
