Today was my heart shock day. I'm pleased to report I'm now back home and my heart is back in sinus rhythm. It took two shocks today and they had to increase the amount of anesthetic they gave me. Tomorrow is a day for me to rest and providing I have no adverse reactions I'll be back at work on Wednesday. My chest is very sore due to having two lots of electrical current zapped through it, but I just hope that's it now, and things continue to improve. I've been catching up on here for last 30 minutes and it seems to have been an interesting day where the Trust and the club meeting is concerned. I'm taking this Saturday off the match thread, but will be back for the final game against Burnley. Thanks RedM
Sounds like a silly question but do you feel invigorated with your heart working more efficiently?
And you say your heart was working at 18%; what figure would the average 24 year old have?
@cafcnick1992 Most healthy people will have a heart efficiency of between 50 and 55% (even top athletes). Mine before today has gone from 18% 16 months ago to 45% now, if, after today's successful re-start and they re-test it again in a few months they are hopeful I'll be back at 50% which is good for a 61 year old. and Yes with a heart working in rhythm it is easier to breath, I feel fitter and looking forward to finally getting back on the golf course. Over all your heart function is vitally important.
Cheers RM, I was genuinely interested. Great news for you though. Hope the whole experience has been a wake up call though - you'll probably find you're in better health than you were before.

@cafcnick1992 no problem mate thanks for the interest. My heart problem was caused by a virus, yet I understand there are many many people in the UK with a non-rythmatic heart (AF), its worth looking it up its an eye opener. I'm now looking forward to getting my heart working as efficiently as I can, if I make it to 50% they will remove me from the life-long medication I'm now on.
Just caught up on this thread. Well done Red. I know how you must feel now. Apart from everything else - life feels grand now doesn't it. Again I'm pleased for you.

Hi @MeebaumAzanitch, thanks for the kind words, yes it does feel really great, whilst Ive been feeling ok since it went back out of rhythm, now that it is back in again I feel just fantastic!! Such a lot of difference as you will know. How are you doing now? I guess you feel a bit like me? Now all I need to do is stop getting so wound up about RD and co and I can enjoy the summer and hope things change in the closed season.
I'm fine. Back to work. Back to 'normal'. I was due to see my consultant in June, but has been moved to October. My heart failure miracle was similiar to yours. Not getting wound up for too long is the key.
