Just seen a tweet saying we are interested in signing Rolando Aarons from Newcastle, looked like he would be playing more regularly after starting a few games last year...;
Anyone think this bid for the Rotherham guy may be a plan to try to soften the blow of Lookman leaving... After all where are we getting this 2mil from if Watt is only on loan.
Some movement at Tottenham. Serbian youngster Milos Vejlkovic, who helped his nation win the Under-20 World Cup last summer, has packed his bags and headed over to German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.

Roland can find £2 million. It's not like there is a cash flow problem is there.
Maybe one for the "general things that annoy you" thread......
but why the hell is it always left so late? The transfer window has been open all month. If we want to strengthen the team, doing it early on in the window means they can get more games in, and prices don't get ratcheted up so much at the last minute.
Or is it that they like the glorious failures to show the fans they really do mean business, but without actually having to fork out any money?

It just shows how quickly this stuff spreads. A Twitter account in the name of a fictional character tweets something linking us to a player and before you know it some website have used it as the basis for an article. That article itself is then used as proof of the veracity of the original tweet and around it goes.

Classic negotiation theory. If a club is prepared to sell a player then it means they want rid - hence a buyer's market at the end of the window. It's a seller's market at the beginning of the window.
Charlton Athletic are close to sealing a permanent deal for Simon Makienok according to reports coming out of the ATA Hotel. The Dane joined the South London side in the summer, and it seems he’s done enough for the club to buy him outright.
TMW have reported from the ATA Hotel in Milan that Charlton Athletic are closing in on Makienok, and could look to get a deal done before the deadline. The hotel is where all the agents in Italy get together during the transfer window to hold talks and close transfer deals.
The Danish international has started 15 league games since his loan move from Serie A's Palermo in the summer. The initial deal was that Charlton Athletic would take the player on a season long loan, but they want to exercise their right of redemption even though he’s only be at the club for 6 months.
Makienok may have sealed his move to Charlton Athletic after scoring a brace at the weekend against Rotherham United. With the Championship side in a battle to avoid relegation this will come as positive news for the club and supporters.
Glad to see the Clarke-Harris rumor being knocked back. He's definitely a decent player and a good prospect, and 1.5-2m isn't much these days, especially for potential. That said, a quick center forward isn't quite what we need at the moment, and rumors of attitude problems precede him.
What we really need is someone who can create, especially from a central position (either in central midfield, as a #10, or starting wide and tucking in). It seems from the first couple matches that Jose wants us pressing high up the pitch, and looking to counter, so a quick winger might also do the job. If it's Gnabry, I saw great, he's definitely got the tools, but I always fear with a player of that type that you'll get inconsistency, and I think we have enough nearly there wingers.
Also, hope RVT and Moussa are out the door. Wish all the best to Moussa, definitely talented, just unfortunate with injuries, and I wonder if he's truly fit these days. With RVT, it was the best option of a bad lot back in November (how we found ourselves in that position is another story), but it hasn't worked out. He has a reputation for not giving a toss, and seems to have proved it here.
Almost certain that this striker signing will be Makienok. Then the club will claim its some massive breaking news story. As if we couldn't just get him in the summer anyway.

If he finishes the season strongly and Rotherham get relegated, he'll have all summer to find a better club

Crazy.
Charlton are understood to have tabled a bid of £1.5 million for Clarke-Harris which was snubbed by Rotherham.
So everyone plays brinkmanship.
Still annoying, I'll grant you.
