"Last week I outlined that our key strategic objective is to make Charlton a competitive Championship club with Premier League ambitions. Underpinning that objective our other targets include: - To be successful in our recruitment, retention and trading of players - To have a stable, financial policy which also is successful in growing our commercial base - To create a best-in-class Academy which regularly produces players for our first team - Creating a system of communications and interactions with all our fanbase which makes our supporters feel valued - Maintaining our remarkably successful presence in the local community via the Charlton Athletic Community Trust
To be successful in our recruitment, retention and trading of players - for RD's benefit. To have a stable, financial policy which also is successful in growing our commercial base - for RD's benefit. To create a best-in-class Academy which regularly produces players for our first team - for RD's benefit (sales). Creating a system of communications and interactions with all our fanbase which makes our supporters feel valued - Failed already. Maintaining our remarkably successful presence in the local community via the Charlton Athletic Community Trust - We were fine in that department.
Target 20k - for RD's benefit Strategic Development - again, for RD's benefit
All she's doing is re-spelling out the goals of which we don't, nor should any Football Club fan, like.
I think RD has told her to sort it out, just a hunch. So I wonder how she is going to feel when the protests start at the Ipswich game outside the main stand, and inside the ground. Methinks she is living on borrowed time.
Like Henry says it would be good to have some of these targets quantified e.g. What does successful player recruitment look like?, and also to understand some of the 'how tos' (within the bounds of confidentiality of course).
But I feel more informed than I was a couple of weeks ago.
Soundbites. 2nd bottom and 5 managers in under 2 years with fans leaving in their droves suggests there is little substance to these words so far.
The January transfer window and appointment of a conpetent qualified manager or not will be a signal of intent.
We've been lied to/spun a yarn about 20 applicants considered/ no interference in team selection etc so I'll no place too much credence on words. Actions stop you getting relegated in front of dismal crowds not words.

I would imagine she believes comms such as this will prevent the protests against Ipswich from going ahead.
What has been said is more or less the same as ANY other Championship football club would say. Nothing out of the ordinary or unusual.
A small degree of admitting that not enough has been done for communication and huge focus on the way forward rather than any other admissions that things are less than perfect - which is more or less to be expected.
Still don't have any trust or faith in the senior management of the club. Given the just slightly more conciliatory tone compared to that in the meeting last week, I reckon we can expect a long game to be played out on this one.....

OK, no metrics but small steps.
Jesus, that's a pointless statement. She may as well add 'win as many games as possible'. There's nothing there that tells us how they plan to do that, or even how they plan to build on previous mistakes. We don't even know if they acknowledge previous mistakes, they haven't with the managers.
The CEO has dug herself so far down a hole she only had two options in my opnion to dig her way out of it.
1. Resign or
2. Communicate more with the fans instead of hiding away and hope the problem disappears.
She has gone for the latter and we will shall see if her words turn into actions. In the meantime more polite protests in and outside the ground from the 2% army. The protest has clearly rattled her.
Just like Fraeye, the next couple of games are key for her. If results go our way then maybe some of the fans will be content and she may be forgotten about. If they don't then her and Fraeye will come in for more of the same pressure.
Are we really thinking about Charlton with all this cynicism. Give the person a chance to get it right. She is making the effort; cut her some slack and please focus on Charlton rather than criticising every little detail. Come on.
Or 'we are going to play the sort of music that will drive anybody over the age of 25 out of Crossbars. The club is looking to the future and by the time we achieve success none of that lot will still be alive so we might as well alienate them now'
Are we really thinking about Charlton with all this cynicism. Give the person a chance to get it right. She is making the effort; cut her some slack and please focus on Charlton rather than criticising every little detail. Come on.
Unfortunately we are seeing the fruits of a serious breakdown in trust between the club and the fans, it's not surprising really.

Do you genuinely believe that their outlined strategy of possible youth stars coming through to be supplemented by network players and relative unknowns with the odd punt on players like Vaz Te is a well thought out masterplan for progressing the club?
Man united's Class of 92 worked because for every Beckham there was a Keane supporting him, for every Giggs was a Cantona, Van Nistelrooy, Staam etc. Now of course we aren't going to get top class players at this level but it is surely not beyond common sense to support the young academy lads with proven players who are adept at this level who can not only bolster the squad but also assist the development of the academy players coming through.
It is hard enough for the likes of a KAG or Lookman coming into a struggling side filled with players who are understandably learning to adapt to the Championship themselves and may need to be carried themselves for a period until they adjust.
Add to that the merry go round of managers many of who have next to no knowledge and experience of the league is not a measured recipe for success.
They're saying they want to be a competitive Championship club but the current strategy means we are not even competing with the likes of Brentford and MK Dons.
When do we stop cutting them slack? After the 6th manager is sacked and the next "Alex Ferguson" is brought in? They have been forced into making this effort after x hundred/ a thousand people demonstrated outside the stands and they've clocked the drop off in attendances and I doubt it would have been forthcoming otherwise.
I'm not criticising the details...I am criticising the strategy and the arrogance, stubborness or naivety to which it is being relentlessy adhered to. Keeping swapping manager's in the same mould and unknown quantam and expecting different results. Madness
Yes KF got a superb result over Sheff Wed but Luzon had a stormer at the start of the season before the lack of investment in the squad exposed his limitations/ underminded his potential ability. I've not seen anything in KF or his appointment (let's face it the job's his bar an absolute clusterf*ck of epic proportions in the next few weeks) to suggest any deviation from this lunacy.

It's proper modern day management bollock-speak. Have absolutely no idea of the mechanics or fundamentals of what you are in control of but keep spouting bollocks to all who'll listen and keep blaming and sacking people who work with their hands tied underneath you. Repeat ad infinitum

It’s like a cult or a religion.
Roland is God, the all-knowing, all controlling deity that we never see.
KM is the preacher outside Charing Cross station telling us that Roland’s word is truth and we just need to have faith, despite all the horror and contradictions unfolding in front of us, and of course just keep paying our money and coming to the church. Humpy or vague when questioned as to whether there is a better way or when obvious fallacies are alleged.
Riga, Peeters, Luzon are the false Prophets but Karel Fraeye is the messiah and the miracles he’ll perform in scraping a point up at Rotherham and home to Leeds will testify to that.
The 98% optimistically praying that blindly ignoring the swiss cheese sized holes in the masterplan keeping the faith will result in joyous rapture an ascension to the promised land of Everton away and who knows perhaps even a seat at the head altar.
And mine and my ilk are the cynical doubting Thomas unrepentant sinners who have stormed out of church with the hump destined to spend eternity in hell (or league one losing to Millwall and Orient on a bi annual basis as I’d put it).
To be honest I quite like this statement that RD has written to KM and told her to forward onwards to the comms team to post on the website.
It is just fortunate that she picked up his email whilst busily deleting all those ones that the clubs fans had sent to her after she encouraged them to do so at the meeting.
Some of our fans like to PWR, Katrien likes to DWR.

Exactly, couldn't give a toss about the supporters before, but one demo plus a live game coming up Roland & it seems we have our very own road to Damascus. Hmm wonder how long this will last for ? Less than all of our head coaches individual stints no doubt.
Can we all now agree the Ipswich protest is now off?
No, as we were. Polite, respectful protest keeps them on their toes.
Since the protest before the Sheffield Wednesday home game, we have now seen a meeting on video, talks now with the trust and an article on the official site. Seems to be working.

This doesnt detract from what I thought of her, but doesnt change my opinion at all that she's completely clueless.
There is a small part of me (tinged with sadness) that is looking forward to her unprofessional reaction to the protest at Ipswich.

Shows she has listened and now acted. All can see she is joining with us, the fans, to move our club forwards.
Well done the trust as well.

Both could be gone before Christmas
