  • What is the reference to wife beater?
    Jos Verstappen

Bloke is a nasty piece of work not just to his wife but to Max in his youth as well
Thanks, I realised as was watching a few seconds delayed as had paused it before
  • We have heard the last of it the same as you get when you get a rubbish ref that influences the game.

Out for the old dears birthday, was keeping up with it but bbc not actually said what the mess is about. Can someone clarify?
In short-Max pitted on a virtual safety car, mercedes gambled and left Lewis out. Then a safety car about 7 laps out, Max got another free pit stop leaving Lewis on old tyres. Masi had to choose between letting all the lapped cars through which would have meant no restart and a Lewis win or letting none of them through which probably leads to a Lewis win. Instead he made up a 3rd option and let just 5 of them through so Max started next to Lewis on his new tyres and beat him in a 1 lap race
Disgusting. Feel for Lewis if that’s the case.

  • Nothing in here about the Clerk of the Course CHOOSING which lapped cars will un lap themselves - it’s either all or none

Whats the betting the Yanks who own F1 now engineered this

    That is exactly the case.

Yes, he bent the rules but that's what dodgy refs do. He would say that he allowed them to race safely. The procedures/rules seem to be meaningless to the bloke but he is effectively the ref. We could say the push on Dobson for Shrewsbury's winner was incredibly poor reffing but even though it was clearly wrong, the game is lost on that.
  • I've always hated the safety car rules anyway, in no other sport can a lead evaporate like that due to external factors.

Yes it makes races more "exciting" but this is meant to be a sport, not a Simon Cowell reality show.
Drive to Survive says otherwise... Too many third pary factors now.

  • Michael Masi. You got this:

  • Might be clutching at straws but was Verstappen now weaving when defending from Hamilton? - Changed racing line about three times
  • I think Mercedes are in a no win situation here.
They appeal, look like sore losers and I feel they won't win it anyways.
I hope they show the same class that LH has shown tonight, regardless of the outcome.

I think after seeing Leclercs defence against Bottas they obviously weren't really policing the amount of weaves.

Yeah definitely clutching mate. Weaving was the least of his crimes. 😂

Can a ref give a penalty for a hand ball in the centre circle?

  • Wanted Hamilton to win and, apart fromn the safety car, would have.  But put a fiver on Max to win the championshipo early on - so £43 better off.  Happy days.
  • Mercedes should have also taken advantage of free out stop and changed tyres like Red Bull it cost Lewis big time.

I kind of agree, but you could argue they have a cast iron case.
The race director arbitrarily decided to make a decision that was not in the rules in order to change the race. Absolutely not ok.
  • Bitterly disappointed. But congratulations to Verstsppen - a well deserved championship for a brilliant driver.

To me, admittedly ignorant of the finer points of the sport, the shenanigans at the start when Lewis Hamilton took a short cut was balanced out by the shenanigans at the end.
Max Verstappen is a worthy world champion because he was brave enough to visit Kwik fit when Hamilton stayed out on the track.
I like Hamilton and wanted him to win, but there is some compensation that the ultra nationalists are pissed off.
    Seriously, ‘ultra Nationalists’.

    You need help.
There are some ultra nationalists around aren’t there?
Even if they don’t occupy these boards.
Why would using that term lead to you judging that I need help?
Ohhh look at me, look at me.

    Youre a wrongen.

    What a crock of shit.
    I disagree.
Verstappen changed tyres when Hamilton didn’t.
