It's fairly simple, if our ambition is promotion then then the CH we currently have isn't good enough for the first xi. We all agree on that right? If we are happy to be a mid table team then I'm fairly sure we have a decent squad player.
A 21 winger not being consistent, who'd believe it. Some really idiotic comments on here. Same people who if we sold him and he was brilliant would then moan about how we never hold on to our young players.
Really interesting how there has become a culture of hammering our young players. No patience for them to develop.
It's a recent countrywide thing. Unless a player is tearing it up as soon as they break through to the first team they get slaughtered. Highest profile case has to be Tom cleverley. Jonjo got slagged off at Liverpool as well. This country celebrates failures and if they're decent it's all "yeah, well, getting paid what they do they should be good".
And you wonder why our youth systems are dragging behind Germany and Spain!
He's a young winger, of course he's inconsistent. How much of a chance did he get last season? He's got the talent and he can shoot and score goals. Hang onto him, he'll soon find the required consistency.
If the Head Coach does not rate him then its time to cash in. A few weeks ago the SLP mentioned that Harriott, Bikey, Pigott and Wiggins can go if the right offer comes in.
The guys an absolute plonker. He is far too inconsistent. Love the way way people comment and they are the 'odd game a season' fans. Get a season ticket, watch players on a regular basis then we'll talk.
How do you know that people commenting on him in a positive way are 'odd game a season fans' I have been a season ticket holder since we moved back to The Valley and yes he is inconsistent, most Championship wingers are, he is also 21 years old and has regularly been played out of position. I would understand him wanting to leave because some fans are only too quick to jump on his back, there is almost a satisfaction when he misplaces a pass because then the slagging off can start.
Last season was the season CH needed to prove that he could be the player he should be, personally I would have loaned him to a lge1-2 club as a kick up.the arse to say do you really want to end up here, no one was expecting him to play 70-80 % of games at a huge Consistent level, to hardly play or when playing not be performing to the maximum of his ability is due to either poor showing in training or a mental weakness no one can get too except him,
Wigan have sold McLean for good money. They need a replacement. Callum not getting a game. Callum may fancy a new challenge. Wigan pay good money for callum. Frees up funds for new signings
Thank God Joe Gomez got out before having a poor spell and being ripped apart by twats who think they are Charlton fans!
CH is still a young lad and obviously a confidence player. He's shown what he can do and we've had enough dross over the years that had nothing to show in the first place.
We can all have an opinion on the player. It's the spite and the bile that's uncalled for.
Agreed the player has talent, but is inconsistent, and I fear he does like to play the 'clown'...... nothing wrong with that as you say the guy is 21. Although acting like this does make you think he is an attention seeker. I feel that on balance he has had his opportunity, and should move on.
Actually all those photos show to me is how f**king awful our outfield kits were last season!
Can I just ask where this bad attitude comment has come from? I follow him on social media and I really don't see it. He congratulated Palace players, ok, that's hardly bad attitude. He's always putting pics up of his son, or him and his mates. usually playing Fifa! On the pitch he's 50/50 for me, a typical winger blowing hot and cold. BUT, even then I wouldn't say he's got a bad attitude.
In terms of effort, I've never seen Callum Harriott give anything less than 100% in any game I've seen him play for us. As wingers go, he certainly falls into the hardworking category.
As to his attitude, most of us will remember his horrendous miss against Barnsley at the Valley (a header in the six yard box) towards the very end of 2013/14. He was crucified for that but bounced back to score 5 goals in the last week of the season to help save our bacon. I would suggest that is hardly commensurate with a lack of character; quite the contrary.
I want to say that I believe that there is a very decent player there but it is clear he is a confidence player. He reminds me a lot of Lloyd Sam, same box of tricks but the end result was always a little disappointing. Probably with the right service he could be an asset or as an impact sub but clearly the manager doesn't fancy him.
So if he does go I wish him well he is only 21 and has, hopefully the best of his career in front of him

This. I like the fact that CH gives us some trickery and something different. But I often get frustrated at his poor decision taking and lack of end product. I'd ideally like to keep him and see him mature and develop but sadly I think that ship has probably sailed and I wish him all the best. The one thing I do worry about is a lack of pace in our squad. Even when we were playing well and passing it about beautifully last season we were, generally, doing it slowly. The Watfords and Bournemouths were in a different league in terms of playing beautifully and quickly. Calum, for all his faults, did bring us some real pace and if he goes that needs to be replaced.

And the point I was trying to make was that he liked to get attention.......... not that he was a poor footballer, not really sure that is the behaviour to indulge in on a press day, with one of the sponsors, but then I tend to think that last year was an important year for the lad. Yes, he did play out of position, up front in my opinion, but that was big bob's idea I guess. By the way the word 'clown' was a Charlton player's opinion expressed to me at the ground. Good on him that he supported the community work. I will let others comment on the kit, I have already commentated about the UoG logo, so at least we agree on that.
There seems to be a consensus amongst some of the posters in this thread on the following:
- that he currently is not good enough to play regularly in the first team in the Championship - Wigan want him for next season for a promotion bid but the club are seemingly turning down the offer as it is too low - he is unlikely to make it into our first team - he has potential but needs to be playing regular first team football to realise it
If only there was some way, some system of allowing a player to leave our club to play first team football, yet the player could either return to our club if he develops or be sold on if he is unlikely to be Championship quality, with perhaps the club he goes to paying some or all of his wages in the interim? Oh well.
A lot of people seem to think we should get rid of a player because they don't like his social media presence. Weird criteria some people have for a footballer.

I honestly wonder what people see when they go to games. He isnt very good at all, partly because he thinks in his own head he is better than what he is.But calling people twats who think they are charlton fans just for voicing there opinion is ridiculous, unless of course your actually harriotts dad and are sticking up for him.
As many have said on here he is inconsistent. However there are very few consistent wingers in football. Those that are tend to be the ones that make it big. Football at Championship level and below is full of inconsistent performers. This, more than ability tends to make or break a player.
They are criticised for not taking in their full back if they pass and then if they do try a trick or two and it fails they are criticised for being flash and greedy. There is no real hiding place so they are either brilliant or awful.
We should be judging him on his football ability not what the perception of him is through a moniker or photographs on social media.
For what it is worth he is a very nice bloke, very much committed to his family and career and is very much removed from the lazy view some have of him

and you know what is going on in Callum's head. Good trick that.

Wow when did you get back from Callum Harriot's head. I think the reason some fans are being called twats is because their comments are spiteful and personal when I doubt any of them actually know Callum. So his twitter name is Cally_messi (and has been for years) people assume that is arrogance maybe it is just a joke. He does more than most players in the community, does that sound arrogant? He constantly talks about working harder to do the best for his son, that doesn't sound like someone who thinks he has already made it. Maybe he won't make it at the very top level, who knows, but he is earning a good living playing football so your comment that he isn't very good at all doesn't quite stack up.

Greenie Junior in other words.
Best of luck Callum, I hope you do well.

Win win.
don't really get this negativity, there is a very good player in there, it's just getting him consistently good.
