In my opinion, and we are all allowed one even if it grates with some, Harriott isn't good enough for the Championship. I've never really liked him and when he banged in a hat trick at Blackpool it was a flash in the pan. Most of the time his crossing is poor, his decision making is poor and in most instances he picks the wrong pass and on the rare occasion he picks the right one the pass is either over or under hit. He just doesn't have a footballing brain. I think it best he moves on. And I wish him all the best at whatever Club he rocks up at next.
He had another flash in the pan the previous week, scoring 2 goals against Watford that ensured we stayed up.
I agree that his decision making leaves a lot to be desired, having said that. He is only 21 one though. Some of my decisions at that age weren't too clever either.
Feel a bit bad for Callum for how last season went. There was a point where he got a little run in the team, simplified his game and played some wonderful passes against Ipswich and Millwall. If the strikers had done their jobs properly he would have had a couple of assists to his name and would have helped us win a couple of games. As it was they fluffed their lines and his confidence dropped again. Think he probably needs a move if he's ever going to get that consistency he needs
A bit like young Kevin Lisbie. Been at Charlton a fair while. Divides opinion. But at the end of the day, only had 2 good games v Watford & Blackpool. (Lisbie had one v Liverpool).
He needs to drop down a division and get a team where he's going to get a lot of games. If that happens we might see the re emergence of the talent we hoped he would produce for Charlton.
Some really stupid comments on here. I don't remember people complaining and telling him to go when he got a hatrick at Blackpool or when he scored at Hillsborough.
That's such a shit comment. Pawel Abbott scored for us against Peterborough once, doesn't mean he's a good player. Harriott is crap. Comes across a dick on social media for example putting pictures up of palace players aconfratulaying them - not exactly the best idea
You follow him on social media yet you don't like him. weird
When I think of shit in a Charlton shirt I think Abbott, Mooney, Akpo Sodje and a few others. I don't think Harriott is anywhere near as bad as those. I'm also all for griefing knobs on Twitter but don't get why you would wanna do it to a Charlton player who's never been an arsehole to the club or its fans.
Hope we sell him, given too mnay chances and just hasn't taken them. Also comes across as a bit of a twat on social media which doesn't do him any favours.
His arseholeness is not in question, my opinion is that he is not a very good player. Seen him play enough to say 5 good games a season is not enough to even suggest he is a average player. Has talent in brief glimpses and as i say i wish him well. League obe player at best.
Don't understand the comment about his attitude, I always thought he tried too hard. I follow him on social media and he just seems like a young guy trying to do the best for his family. I wish him well whether he is here or moves on as I think he has always done his best if that hasn't always been good enough so be it, I don't see the need to be disrespectful. He certainly isn't shit and maybe needs a move as for some reason he is one of our own yet like Fox the fans seem only too eager to get on his back. Good luck Callum where ever you play next season
No idea what his attitude is like or what he is like personally as I have never met the bloke. Watching at a distance my tuppence worth is that Harriott has serious ability but has not pushed on. Whether that is through lack of confidence or lack of a football brain I imagine we will only find out when he moves on which I think he will this summer. I will be sad we have not got the best out of him but sometimes that is how it goes.
Would be a useful squad player but other than a few games where he hits form he won't be any more than that!
I look at it this way i wouldn't be too disappointed in seeing him go but with the number of bodies we need to bring in as it is if he were to leave it another one we need to bring in and I don't think we can risk that! We have someone who is a good option off the bench to chase a tired defense and try and make something happen! He may come good he may not but he is no more of a punt than anyone we would bring in!
Also one of the most involved players on the community side of things.
We have far too many precious fans on social media who are so very easily offended and have said/done a lot worse things than CH and don't contribute 1% as much as him.
Wow. Some of the comments on this thread are laughable. You'd think he was the worst player to ever pull on a Charlton shirt judging by some of the comments.
He's very much a confidence player. In my opinion, there is a very good player in there somewhere but he needs to play regularly. He needs to leave Charlton, play regularly somewhere to gain confidence, then I think you'll see the best of him. I wish him all the best & hope he goes on to prove his doubters wrong. Unfortunately, he won't get the chance to do that here.
There's definitely a player in there and it's just a shame that, a few purple patches aside (notably, the last ten games of 2012/13 and the last week of 13/14), Callum's not been able to progress. If he does move on - and that's probably now for the best - the very best of luck to him in the future.
Wigan reportedly got £1.5 million from West Brom for McLean, so they are in need of a new winger, especially to try and open up teams at home, most of whom will probably come to defend in numbers at the DW. Hopefully, we can squeeze them up a bit. Callum should do well at League 1 level. Wigan are also said to have agreed a £1 million fee with Dundee United for the striker Ciftci, so they're obviously going to give it real go this season before the club begin to take root at that level.
We have a hell of a lot of grade a bells that support our team
A 21 year old yes 21 year old is not the finished article, what a bloody surprise!
Never moaned at not getting a game, got stuck into the community side of things, always willing to try something in a match (even if said grade a bells are booing him) and clearly thrived when trusted by the manager and fans
Never witnessed the slightest bit of 'attitude' from Callum, quite the reverse. It is the decision of the regime to let him move on, but they are right to hold out for a respectable transfer fee. I really only wish Callum the best. people have likened him here to Kevin Lisbie, well Kevin has had a decent career as a professional footballer, and he and Callum are two of our own, indeed both are far from being rubbish footballers. Whatever the future holds for Callum Harriott I wish him the very best, including if he stays here and is a member of our squad.
Can't see him being good enough for the championship, he just doesn't have a football brain imo so a move is probably for the best. Far from the worst player I've seen play for us though. Good luck to him if he does move on.
Unbelievable comments on here about him not being a Championship player and wanting to see the back of him. How quick some are to turn on one of our own. I accept that he has not been the most consistent but could that be down to being only young and being in and out of the team and played in different positions? He is an out and out left winger and, when played, needs to be given the ball to attack the full back. He will be a decent player in years the to come and, if we let him go, will come back to haunt us.
A bit like young Kevin Lisbie. Been at Charlton a fair while. Divides opinion. But at the end of the day, only had 2 good games v Watford & Blackpool. (Lisbie had one v Liverpool).
Think that's a bit unfair, regarding Lisbie. Liked the side netting and Liverpool was his peak but I'm sure he had more than one good game. If not for his work-rate alone.
As for Callum, his career looks to be, like many others, elsewhere.
I still think Callum could do a job for us, but if there is a lesson to be learnt, it's that it's better for young players to stay quiet and humble until they have something to shout about!

Absolute knob heads some of you

I can't see wanting to go to Wigan anyway?
