If I were a Bournemouth fan without a ticket I would do everything I could to go to this match, and good luck to them.
However this malarkey suggests that some West Stand blocks ought not to be sold to season ticket holders so this thing doesn't happen again.
Will the vouchers get you veggie nosh, I need to know?

Why West Stand blocks? Why not East and North too?
If we had not done this there would have been loads of Bournemouth all around the ground, what Charlton have done is sensible.

The very same people moaning about what we have done now would have been moaning if trouble had occurred with Bournemouth in home ends.

Charlton cannot win either way I suppose.

If Bournemouth win tomorrow not doubt we will form a guard of honour for when they come out of the tunnel, like Ipswich sportingly did to us in 2000.
  • Can someone please agree or disagree with this statement.

When we won 1-0 in our 1st division season as champs late on in the season.
we had fans both side of the open end (car park end)

Surely a few season tickets holders (Bournemouth fans) had to be moved ?

Covered end gives us the answer, your good on these questions !

And Hartlepool at the Valley more recently.

Definitely, they gave us the end block of the stand opposite.

    A bit like we're doing................................

Good point and from memory, we were given a block opposit the normal away section in the Main Stand quite late on in the day after we sold out our allocation. Whether season ticket holders had to be moved I couldn't say tbh but I think it shows that at the very least they made an attempt to accomodate our fans at an important game. Fwiw I was in the home end, as were many others and as will be the case for them on Saturday.
  • Annoying that Fulham's late goal means there will likely be nothing riding on the game. Not sure I will bother going if they win tomorrow.
  • Ok, the stuff about whether Bournemouth should have extra tickets has been done to death. Time to move on to the new important question.

Thanks to the idiot Middlesbro' manager, if Bournemouth beat Bolton tomorrow night they are effectively guaranteed promotion. So they could arrive at Charlton already promoted.

Should that be the case, should our players form a guard of honour and clap them on the pitch?

(Stands back. Dons hard hat. And waits for certain posters on this thread to explode with rage!) :-)

I don't think we should. It won't be known until after the game whether they've won the league.

You should only do it for the Champions. Otherwise, why not do it for the team's who have got to the play offs?

The guard of honour only happens once a team has won the league.

Idiot is right - should be sacked for gross stupidity. What on earth was he thinking?

The club could suspend me for selling a home ticket to an away fan but hey they've sold 1,500 tickets to away fans in a home area!!!!

If you went through the appropriate police and licensing bodies to ensure segregation and safety I imagine it would be OK.
  • I also remember our first season back in League One away at Leyton Orient when we sold out the away end Orient were good enough to give us the whole of the stand on the side of the pitch and re-located there season ticket holders from that stand.

They did that because even with us selling that stand out there were still plenty of empty seats in particular in the stand opposite us. Probably not the first time they did it either nor the last.
  • Bloody hell I spotted 2 people under 70 in that queue.
There's gonna be a right old fashioned dust up in the West Stand. There will be thermos flasks and Werthers Originals flying all over the shop when the the Upper West Passive cotton on that their turf is under threat!
If that's your blinkered view well I have two adults with disabilities who accompany me and they moved two of the seats and not the others. However some supporters have the selfish view that if it don't affect me what's your gripe. Well my safety and that of my family are being put at risk so that charlton can kindly accommodate some opposing fans in my previously purchased seats but hey ho they are making money so that's ok. Equally where is your respect for the older supporters who through their loyalty and financial support of their year on year purchase of a season ticket have kept the club alive so you could support them.
I guess it's easy to ridicule and not understand why fans are upset at being moved as it don't change your arrangements for the game.

That's unfortunate. Give them a ring and I should imagine, they will sort it for you.

  • I was sitting on a bus this morning. An old lady got on and asked if she could sit down, where I was sitting.

I told her to fook off and explained that I was Charlton and we need to be less friendly. I told her Millwall wouldn't let her sit down, so neither will I.

Eventually, the bus driver asked me to move and told me I could collect a £15 discount travel voucher.

I got off crying and I'm never going to use a bus again.

No one asked us, we were told to move. Puts a different slant on it.

  • We were not asked if we would move we were told we were being moved. We protested having two less able supporters with us but we're told we have to move from a club that promotes various disability and supporting community schemes. However it all comes down to one thing Greed and Money. This has now set a president for future clubs playing at charlton in that we will be moved to accommodate the opposing fans. My opinion of my own club from the board is that they can take my money but when it suits my support of the club means jack s*hit.
  • cafcnutter, you don't live up to your name.

You have some sensible, well reasoned arguments, I agree with all your views.

We have been sold out for the money and this will happen again.
  • I am certain that with RD many millions, the decision was more about helping out Bournemouth on, potentially, one of the biggest days in their history rather than making what, in the scheme of things, is a very small amount of money.

So are you saying, that you have discussed this with Charlton, explained that 2 of your group of 4 are disabled and they have split you up and refuse to seat you together ?

Give them a ring we protested with the person who called us and told them two tickets belong to a Down syndrome adult and an adult with disability it meant nothing. They were not interested in us it was all about accommodating the away support. Money is the main culprit for the changes, however our money that we paid in advance for us to sit with people they look forward to seeing at the game is now insignificant. Caring cafc don't make me laugh.

Of course it was. We were reciprocating. They did it for us in our promotion season.

What should we have done ? Said thanks for accommodating our fans on our promotion game, but even though we have 10,000 empty seats, we're not going to do the same for your club ?
  • Our CEO wants as any Bournemouth fans to attend to enjoy their day.

As the game means nothing to us then let them have all the ground.

We can then charge them £100 each as we won't have to stick to the rule about charging the same as the home fans as none of them will be there.

That's a cool £2,700,000 in lovely, lovely money which would go towards a decent player.

As everyone on here says Its only one game and the club makes some money so nobody is going to mind surely?
  • Works for me
  • Yes that may be extreme and ridiculous but no more than the rumour I heard years ago that we were moving to Selhurst Park!!

Perhaps I should go back to my single name Varney the female type
  • That's terrible, go to the local press and get that publicised. Maybe our CEO will give up her seat?

Oh no she's just concerned about the Bournemouth fans enjoying their day.

There may be occasions when the commercial centre staff will need to refer you to the disability liaison officer, who will contact you directly to ensure your request can be satisfied.

Why don't you e mail :- disability@cafc.co.uk, or if ringing up, ask to speak to them.

Obviously, you can't keep your existing seats, because a decision has been made, but they must be able to sit the 4 of you together.

Agreed, Charlton are normally very good in supporting problems with disability.
