Russell last refereed the Addicks in the 1-0 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in September in which he showed yellow cards to Rhoys Wiggins, Tal Ben Haim and Igor Vetokele.
The game against the Bluebirds will come exactly a year to the day since the referee last officiated at The Valley when he oversaw the 3-2 success over Brighton & Hove Albion on Boxing Day 2013.'
