If you take in loans you have to pay all or part of wages plus a fee to the club, if you sign free agents, there is no payment to other clubs
  • Another advantage is that free agents are playing for another contract.

Yes, we do seem to be going for players who should be hungry because it's shit or bust.

It's alright I'm getting dizzy just enjoy the valley,
It's ok with me if you don't have that much to say,

    Alou Diarra, my old friend
You've come to play football again
Down at the Valley with the Charlton boys
From the Covered End there's loads of noise
And the owner and the Board just melt away
    As we start to play
There's just no chance, of silence

  • I'm sure someone more creative than me can change more words than just 'Hello'

I don't feel as if I know you
You take up all my time
The days are long and the night will throw you away
    Coz the sun don't shine
Nobody ever mentions the weather can make or break your day
Nobody ever seems to remember life is a game we play

We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away
And it's never gonna be the same
Cos the years are following by like the rain
And it's never gonna be the same
'Til the life I knew comes to my house and says
    Alou

There ain't no sense in feeling lonely
They got no faith in you
But I've got a feeling you still owe me
So wipe the shit from your shoes
Nobody ever mentions the weather can make or break your day
Nobody ever seems to remember life is a game we play

We live in the shadows and we had the chance and threw it away
And it's never gonna be the same
Cos the years are following by like the rain
And it's never gonna be the same
'Til the life I knew comes to my house and says
    Hello

    Alou!
    Alou!
    Alou!

    Oasis: Hello.

Yes, but the club can negotiate that themselves with the player

Surely they can also do that with any loan or transfer costs?

They have to negotiate with the parent club, wages and a fee to pay for loaning the player, they don't just pay wages

I know. That's exactly my point. The same as they'd negotiate a signing on fee.

Interesting that we're making short term free agent signings, while everybody else are taking in loans.

Definitely seems like a deliberate strategy.

I am guessing that panic set in in January and once they signed Lepoint it was clear that RD was scraping the network barrel. It was after that we got Johnson, Eagles and Diarra. I do not see any ultimate change of strategy here as none of these three are long term potential for Charlton (maybe Eagles has a year or so), just a panic reaction to all the bad choices made over the past year. Fortunately it seems to have worked to stop the slide into Division 1 at least. However, unless shown otherwise I imagine we will be back in the same boat in August , with a squad too thin for the Championship.

Lepoint was not a network signing.

Yes true, should have said Dmitrovic. LePoint was just connected through Peeters at Gent.

They signed Lepoint after they sacked Peeters though?

You will get it right in a minute southbank. Just keep going.

Nothing to moan about just now,as they have finally got it right. Let us hope this is the start of something and not just a blip.

Flat 4-4-2 everyday of the week.

    Henderson

    Solly Ben-haim Johnson wiggins

    JBG Diarra Cousins Bulot

    Watt Igor

Decent bench too, competitive places to fight for in midfield everyone on their toes if playing well.

Good team that but better pray neither of the front two get injured.

Becoming assistant manager at QPR, would say that he'd likely be a good fit but that club can make anyone go insane
