We are coming into the 2 games a week part of the season, so reinforcements were badly neeeded.4

Luzon has probably realised that the his first signing was Le Pointless as he's not good enough.2

Good signing in my humble opinion. I wonder what he's wages are?0
-
Hopefully stays fit with us.
Be interesting to see how many stay into next season, but we seem to have a 'squad' now rather than a 'team'.2 -
Are you sure he didn't get on? According to wiki, he came on for Viera in the 56th minute.Charlton_Stu said:Charlton completed the signing of Alou Diarra on Monday morning.
The player, who was with West Ham last season, becomes the first player on the club's books to have played in a World Cup Final. Diarra replaced Patrick Vieira in 2006.
With the Under-21's match with Cardiff at Sparrows Lane being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Diarra may well be in the senior squad for Tuesday's match at Derby.
He will wear the number 12 shirt and is an ideal replacement for the injured Milos Veljkovic.
Edited he was on the bench in World cup final (didn't get on).1 -
I know it's easy to say, especially after two massive wins but I feel so much better than I did a few weeks ago! I think it started when Henderson made his "come back" from injury, then Tony Watt looks like a really good player (with IV) looking happier, then Roger Johnson, Chris Eagles and now this guy!
Maybe just maybe "the new regime" DO care and want us to succeed. Long may it continue!!

Our current squad about 5 years ago is incredible.
Ben Haim
Johnson
Diarra
Bikey
We'll be signing shearer and lineker in a minute.

Lepoint is still a member of our squad and deserves the same chance as anyone else. Only a couple of weeks ago Bulot was being slated as shite but is now proving himself to be a very good addition to our squad.16
-
Really pleased with this. A much more positive outlook at the club since the Norwich game. Let's hope it keeps up.0
-
It's a bit of a punt IMO, but we got him for free, only signed until the end of the year, well worth the gamble.1
-
He can run though...Kap10 said:Need to be careful, auto correct on Diarra is diarrhoea .. he could be shit!!

Lepoint is the comedy optionAddicted said:Big lad at 6'3". Guess this means Lepoint is seen more as a forward option. Good experience for the sqaud too at 33. Perhaps Guy doesnt fancy Buyens too much in his 4-4-2 system? Hopefully to play WITH Cousins not instead of. Welcome Alou.

Welcome Alou, hope you enjoy your time with us.0

No doubt will be crocked within a fortnight but decent signing nonetheless.2
-
Buyens back to Belgium then?0

Hopefully the signing could make Yoni Buyens perform better!
I do wonder though where JJ will fit in when he's back from injury (if Diarra does well)0 -
The only trouble is, how fit is he? When did he last play? Kept up training, but not the same as playing, I would not expect to see him start for tomorrow or Saturday, but could come on and help us as a sub. We needed to strengthen the squad, and with Diarra and Lepoint, I think we have done this, even if unlike Johnson and Eagles, they do not play much. Once JJ and Wiggins return and whatshisname, oh yeah Moussa, we will not be a bad squad to see us out until the end of the season1
-
Potentially a very good signing, if he is willing to fight for the shirt and club.....
Things are looking up back at the Valley.6 -
I can't help thinking that he wasn't a Luzon signing more of a network 'sporting director' signing. Luzon is now starting to find his feet and play a system that the players are comfortable with. Alou is a direct replacement for Milos. We have some interesting options in midfield.Big_Bob said:Lepoint seems like a bit of a waste of time and money.
Can't see him getting in unless we suffer big injuries etc1 -

"He will add some height, experience, and most of all, quality to the midfield," said Head Coach Guy Luzon on his new signing.
I'm glad to see Guy is concerned about height now, he's slowly becoming Charltonized :-)7 -
So we have youth.
And we have experience.
So if we blend them.....
Another innovation from the regime that people like to knock.4 -
The see-saw world of a Charlton supporter. One week the wife is hiding the tablets and sharp objects from you. The next, all is rosie(ish) and we make a couple of interesting signings in the window. Who'd have thought?2
-
Don't know much about him but welcome and good luck alou0

I'm reserving judgement. His experience of English football really doesn't amount to much. He was at Liverpool for 3 years without a single game, and had only 9 starts for West Ham (only 2 of those in the Premier League) since he joined them in 2012. In fact he's only played 9 more games at all since them, on loan to Rennes from where he came back with his tail between his legs and the public criticism of their manager. He's not played at all this season since West Ham released him from his contract in the summer.Chrissy\\\'s Army!! said:I must say, I'm very impressed with the last 3 signings. Good, experienced players who know English football well. Maybe Roland has changed his philosophy on the network. I'm still far from convinced, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
That said, Coquelin proved how much we need Diarra's sort of player. If he feels he has a point to prove then he could be an asset. He's got some decent clubs on his CV, whilst not actually playing much for any of them.
The saying 'he's got a great future behind him' springs to mind- let's hope he takes his chance.1 -
Decent signing that, feel like we are turning the corner now squad wise0
