Could someone ask Luzon to acknowledge the supporters at the end of the game especally in the in the North Stand,I know its a minor point but would help to get them on his side.
Why 'especially the North Stand'? Apart from that I agree with your point.
Perhaps he needs a little acknowledgement in return - he got the team and tactics right, and you could tell from the body language even before the game that team spirit was right - very good to see Tal getting involved verbally like he used to rather than sulking and how the team were high fiving each other throughout the game.
Putting everything else going on to one side. Just for tonight it's great to see everyone buzzing off a win.
I can't really add much more other than what's been said. Just that we fully deserved it, and I hope this starting XI can find a bond/team spirit to keep us up
I started my post match views on Tuesday with "shite, complete and utter shite" ... well, today - "brilliant, completely and utterly brilliant".
It's hard to believe that I just went to watch the same football club play that I did on Tuesday night!
I was happy with the team selection apart from perhaps Bulot for Harriott. Shows what I know because Bulot was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. Some great work from him for the opening goal down the left. He took is goal very well, not easy at that angle with that much time. Roasted their right back a few times and was busting a gut to help out defensively - can't ask for more!
Watt - wow, what a player. He deserved a goal today and was only denied by a great Button save. Proper hero stuff at the end when he made their defender look ridiculously stupid by the corner flag. Sometimes a player just clicks with a new club and I think he is one of those players, he's already developing a relationship with the fans as you could see by the chanting after the final whistle.
Vetokele back to what he does best ... Goals! Two in two now and ten for the season, hopefully that's him back on form for the run in then!
Simple game football isn't it! Two genuine wide players, two strikers and everybody in their correct positions. Attacking, purposeful and direct football. We broke with pace and looked incredibly dangerous when we did with JBG, Watt, Vetokele and Bulot all comfortable with the ball at their feet. This is a dangerous front line - goals goals goals.
Good to see Cousins back in the centre. A few misplaced passes but nothing disastrous, his engine in midfield was vital ... he seemed to be everywhere. Buyens was better than recently. Can't stand the way he left the pitch though, but I'm too happy to care too much I suppose.
Solly was very good. That tackle in the left back area in the second half - brave guy. Absolutely munched whoever it was!
Very good debut from Johnson, a proper, genuine centre half. Leading and shouting the whole game, different class to what we saw from Bikey on Tuesday. Johnson seems to have a lot of passion, a real tryer with a will to win - he was properly pumped up at the final whistle. Ben Haim was very good aswell with A good performance from Fox as well.
Brentford were dire but don't let you fool you that this wasn't a great performance.
Fans were brilliant, were behind the team right from minute one. We outsung as well as out played Brentford.
Let's hope the injuries to Jackson and Wiggins aren't too bad.
Well done to Guy Luzon as well. A good (if not obvious!) team selection, and the sub near the end of Wilson for Vetokele was at a perfect time. We needed an extra body in the tiring midfield.
I've said a couple of times that something needs to happen soon to turn this around - well this is that moment. We're going to be fine.
Problems not sorted at The Valley so I'm not going to let it paint over any cracks but this is a big day in the context of the season IMO.
Get in, COYR!
An excellent summary - only with the exception that I don't think Brentford were dire. They didn't really get started first half but they were dangerous in the second half, after they moved Pritchard inside. He was really making them tick, with fast and accurate passing. He is going to be some player - just wish he played for us.
As a recent critic, I have to be honest and say that was the best performance at home for a long time. I think main reasons were that some basics that fans have been calling for for some time were implemented. Firstly playing Watt and Vetokele up front seemed to be a no brainer, but may be even more productive than we had hoped. Watt is a very direct player with instinctive control, he wont stop trying to break through defenders and I'm sure he is no pleasure to play against. Having a worry like him up front seems to have liberated Vetokele and between them they look a very strong partnership. If opponents are comfortable against your threats they are more likely to pose problems at the other end. Brentford were kept on the ropes until the last 15 when they were desperate.
The other big factor for me was the realisation that Cousins has to play in the middle. I do think some people look at the odd misplaced pass and miss the fact that he is everywhere. From being an area of the pitch where we let opponents play too much, it is now a battlefield. And he is an athletic fit lad and wins his fair share and when he loses the ball he invariably wins in back. Playing with him made both JJ and Buyens look better.
I would say the changes were not, or at least should not be rocket science, but the fact that Luzon got there may mean he has the capacity to figure out this league. One swallow doesn't a summer make, but today was encouraging. Eyebrows were raised at Bulot's inclusion, but the lad had a great game and maybe he is the type of player that has to play in a team that plays to his strengths. Those of us who have written him off certainly need a re-think.
The negatives, and for me there were a couple should not be ignored. No striker on the bench at home suggests an untimely injury to Vetokele or Watt would be a disaster. And we gave away too many free kicks against a team that we played far better than. They were wasteful but others wouldn't be. We need to cut these out.
Finally, great to see Henderson back. He instills confidence where our other keepers made us panic. A massive positive development for us.
And a word about Brentford. They looked the poorest team we have faced this season. Hopefully because we made them look so rather than the damage their own owner inexplicably has done.
To watch the most depressing 45 mins at the valley in the 1st half against Norwich to the best 98 mins we had at the valley all season, beating the Derby game because we kept a clean sheet.
Most people before kick off thought the shape of the team looked good and was so glad at long last Tony and Igor were starting together. I wanted Bulot to get the nod over Callum because he was playing in his best position for the 1st time and wanted to see how he linked up with two strikers. also this helped Johann who was so much better than Tuesday night, other than his brace at Leeds JBG only does great goals.
From the 1st whistle the crowd were positive just like the team, The last 3 months have been a nightmare on and off the pitch. I hope Watt and Johnson will lift the team, like they did today.
Don't feel all our problems have gone away, the squad is still too light. Since Brentford away, I like many others have said Igor needed a partner, Still feel annoyed that it took till Feb 14th for a quality striker to start alongside him.
I know, I know....It's a bit late but after all it IS Valentine's Day and I've been a tad busy.....
...trying to wipe that big smile off my face ( If that's what it's called - it's been SO long )
I'm certain it's all been said before so all I want to add is it's a funny old game, isn't it ?
Doom & gloom at the final whistle only 4 days ago , albeit with a glimmer of a flicker of light at the end of that long tunnel...
But today, disbelief & awe at the performance we'd just witnessed and at the incredible sight of 3 goals hitting the back of our opponents' net ! Surely this was a dream ! But no : check - gravelly throat, sweaty armpits, bitten fingernails and ...no, TMI, but the game & the result were real. And the faces of all those around us exiting the East Stand were testament to the result but moreover, the performance.
I appear to have missed JJ's statement before the game but whatever he said certainly galvanised his team. And, as a result, the fans who I thought were fantastic today. For once, hand on heart, I can honestly say everyone played their part both on & off the pitch - and wasn't it great ! To top it all, that light from the depths of the tunnel was completely extinguished ...by the jubilant, victorious jump of our Igor bringing back sweet memories of days gone by.
So, a much deserved 3 points from possibly the best eleven the manager could have started ( at last) A couple of worrying injuries could have disrupted the balance of the team but the subs fitted in seamlessly. I have to say I'm pushed to nominate my MOM for the opposite reason to the norm ie too many worthy candidates but I'll opt for TWWW who never gave up, worked his socks off, was SO difficult to knock off the ball/his balance and is surely now Igor's best buddy. This lad could become a big fans' favourite.
We now have 5 days' rest before the journey north to Wigan. Time for the players to rest, train & continue the bonding which appears to be well underway; time for laundering my "new" lucky clothes & lowering my blood pressure. I can't wait !!
And you'll be pleased to hear that Mr F's a happy bunny after receiving his Valentine's Day surprise.
One of the keys today is that the team suddenly started with players who appear to be real fighters .... I would not like to meet up with Watt or Johnson in a bad mood and JJ certainly had his sleeves rolled up and ready to battle, his legs may have gone but his heart is there.
We need fighters in the mess we have and on Tuesday I did not think we had any, today I am pretty sure in the three mentioned plus Ben Haimm we have a core that can drive the ret of the team forward.
And where did 4 mins of second half injury time come from? had 4 mins first half because of injuries but that meant that the usual "30 secs per sub" didn't apply, especially as Brentford made a double sub.
Put the 4th official in charge of time, synch his watch to the stadium clock, and show us what's going on. We pay for it, after all.
Surprised it was only 4 mins. 3 long injuries and I thought it should have been at least 6 mins.

I would go as far as saying that the Johnnie Jackson statement before the game had a huge knock on effect to the result. The atmosphere around the place was rocking in response to his call for support - and the impact it had on the team was clear for all to see.
Tony Watt is so exciting to watch. Not enough British strikers out there who can dribble as well as hold the ball up.
Watt said on the radio that Jackson has been stirring the players up. We owe JJ a lot, he did the same after Powell left a year ago.
just walking into the stadium the whole atmosphere was so much more positive than recently. I didn't realise the JJ request but I felt so much more positive hearing the team selection.
To the covered end "you were magnificent from the first minute today - anyone can sing when your winning but to generate that when we haven't won for 14 games.... you all deserve to feel great and part of todays win"
There is no doubt in my mind that the quality of our players is at least top half of the division. The problem has been team spirit and bad management. Has this changed now? Certainly good signs. Could be an interesting couple of months

The paper thin squad is a problem too. We can't just have no-hopers sitting on the bench expect them to replace a decent player when there are injuries. We need some depth to the squad with players that are good enough. This does two things, gives us cover when people are injured or need resting, and it keeps everyone on their toes as there is competition for places.
Where did that come from? It was like waking from a nightmare and finding everything was okay after all. New spine, new belief, new beginning (calm down, calm down)
How long have we been calling for Watt and Vetokele together? How long have we been calling for Jordan to play in the middle? Weren't we asking for Bulot on the wing (if at all)? Weren't we hoping for Henderson to return? Didn't we want Johnson to replace Bikey?
It all seems so obvious, doesn't it?
It would be churlish not to credit Luzon though; the team certainly looked united today, for the first time in ages.
Brentford were poor - but mainly because we made them poor - with our rock tight defence (like we started the season) their passing game broke down without ever threatening our final third. Our front two worried their defence all afternoon and took the pressure off our defence for the first time in ages.
Isn't this what home games are supposed be like? It was a welcome relief from the depressive gloom. Surely there is too much quality in this side for relegation? The test now is to consolidate and prove that Brentford was more than just the right team at the right time.
Hold back the meeting? Don't be ridiculous.
But it wouldn't surprise me if some of the waverers are mollified by the victory feelgood factor. At least for this week!
Not a lot I can add to what has already been said, especially as I wasn't there, but I've had a bit of a spring in my step today thanks to finally having that winning feeling again. As did a lot of us it seems, I had a better feeling when I saw the line up. Senior players in their correct positions and an absence of teenagers on the bench.
Not sure if the majority of the credit lies with Jacko or Luzon, but someone seems to have done a grand job of rallying the troops after Tuesday's debacle. Even through the commentary, the renewed fight in the team was clear and needs to be retained for the rest if the season if at all possible. What was also really refreshing to hear was Pete and Tel repeatedly describing shots from Charlton players. We were actually creating chances for a change, at last!
We shouldn't get carried away with either the team performance or any of the individual ones because at this time it could just be case of the attacking players all putting in long overdue performances at the same time and against a team potentially disrupted by the baffling speculation about their manager's future and it doesn't change anything off the field, but we have cause for hope again though which was all but lost 24 hrs ago.
Posting after having read Just a couple of bits in addition to what has been said I still think there's a lot more to come from Vetokele , his touch is still not great and his goal arrived from poor control that went to TWWW but he stroked that home beautifully after such unselfish work by my main man . A simply magnificent result and performance from players that with the right attitude and self belief can easily stay up long may it continue As the worlds most negative person even I said , with a couple of mins plus injury time left, I was confident we'd win and even nick a third which arrived on cue/queue !

Some good points and you reiterate the feelings of many.
Would just like to add:
It is likely that Tony Watt has only just reached the level of fitness required to play a full 90.
We should not forget the contribution Bikey made from the very first game - he and Ben Haim were a revelation. Unfortunately Bikey was struggling - for whatever reasons, as the season progressed so bringing in Johnson and getting Henderson back is timely indeed, to say the least. Regarding 'the meeting'. Of course the fans should be able to air their views so meet all you like. I have, from day one, been convinced that the new Management have a positive strategy and game plan and that does not include playing in the lower leagues.
Having not attended for a while, I admit I was fearing the worst before the game, in fact I have never been less eager to watch a game in my life. So it was a pleasant surprise to find firstly Henderson back, that was a real plus, but also a team that really worked hard and played as a unit. Sitting where I do in Lower west it was also rather obvious that the entire team had chosen to ignore Luzon through the entire match! The best decision of the game for me! He jumped around a lot and in the end resorted to some type of semaphore, but the only person who showed any interest in him was the fourth official who kept reminding him to get back into his lines. Anyway, leaving him out of the equasion as he's not that important, I was impressed with Tony Watt, think he'll be a good striker for us, reminds me a little, but only a little of Killer, in his attitude. Bulot, who I'd forgotten about, also impressed and Roger Johnson really made a difference in defence. Having Henderson back seemed to calm the defence down and they seemed to know what they were doing. Goals all well taken, so won't single anyone out, a great team effort, well done lads!
It was a pleasure doing the match thread for the first time in ages!! I was still nervous after we went 1 up but after the second I just knew we wouldn't throw this one away. I even asked for 3 on the thread and Bulot delivered..great stuff. Watt, Igor, Bulot and Jonno sounded as though they were immense as was JJ until he went off. Now lets move onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

Glad you were able to make the game and enjoy the performance.
If Luzon is not the motivator then I'd like to know who is.
Luzon and his backroom team must surely set the strategy, as well as have considerable, if not total, involvement in team selection - or maybe I'm just naive?
I've never seen a team in any environment, work or sport, flourish without a leader.
Changed my seat today from normal North upper position to lower west to sit with my family , all the players superb and organised most people have gone for tony watt MOM fair enough he was superb but in the 2nd half I was watching Bulot who had a great 1st half and for me he was fantastic in he 2nd half he doubled up superbly with fox to stop any threat Brentford had coming forward and when attacking he attacked with pace he had great feet ie the pass and the part he played in the vetokele goal was quality and to cap it all a great finish to win myself a nice few quid , honestly don't know where that performance came from but well done son let's hope we see that on a regular basis.
Also nice to see coquelin at the game today signing autographs etc.
Not a lot I can add to what has already been said, especially as I wasn't there, but I've had a bit of a spring in my step today thanks to finally having that winning feeling again. Well done boys.
I did wonder what had inspired them. Unusual but effective management technique
Was noticeable before kick off that the players looked happier and more motivated than the morose bunch we've had in recent weeks.
Guy Luzon needs to take credit for yesterday (but not vindication yet). Has picked up on the right things to do with this team albeit belatedly so it would be churlish not to congratulate him for yesterday.
Brentford fans will no doubt claim that the made us look good but I truly feel we made them look under par. We played at a very high tempo forcing mistakes and the players seem much fitter than a few weeks ago.
It could have been more goals had we been more composed with our final balls in good positions. If we continue to create these positions better execution will come, it was more a case of the plethora 'final ball opportunities' coming as a shock to the players systems.
Finally, I hope we do get a couple of quality loanees. One up front to give an option in case of injury or the need to play 4-5-1 (e.g. Derby away), an attacking central midfielder and possibly a left back depending on Wiggin's injury.

I've never seen a team in any environment, work or sport, flourish without a leader.
Also nice to see coquelin at the game today signing autographs etc.
