    WUM alert!!!
  • The apparent value is by us.

I can't believe the amount of rubbish that Agents get out there. KM said at a fans meeting that she has had to, literally, turn her phone off as the young players agents leave her so many voicemail messages that her account gets full up and it won't accept any more.

The £750k, which is, apparently, our valuation could be because we want to scare away potential buyers but it's more likely to be that with three years left on his contract his Agent wants to earn another commission so is looking to have the contract extended or orchestrate a move to earn a cut of a fee and the new contract.

So it is not just emails that Meire ignores then.
  • Still the second best keeper at the club by a long distance! Would do a lot better coming into this tram now we're doing well and has a decent defense in from to him! I'm sure Johnson the organiser is easier to play behind than Bikey the liability! Has a long future hopefully at Charlton!

Your on the right lines there Canters !

We didn't sign Stephen Henderson till after the Spanish trip, when Nick Pope made one bad mistake against Gibralter. I know it was only a friendly but the doubt were there in Ben Roberts and Peeters mind.
The shame for Nick was until the faux pas against Derby he was really looking good, then in the next match against Huddersfield, in the warm up and the first 25 minutes was very shaky. The problem we have now is will Nick Pope play second fiddle to Hendo ; who if he stays fit, is very steady.

  • Not sure a keeper should be judged on how many hospital balls he receives from unconfident CBs. Hendo is lucky in that respect.

Where do Dimitrov. Phillips. Mitov and Thomas all fit in around Pope ?

I think Roberts considers Dimitrovic as 2nd choice. I think he definitely has something about him, and Roberts says he is young, and willing to learn. Yes, he has some bad habits from playing continental football, but so did DeGea, Courtois, etc. They can be coached out of him.

There is obviously something about Phillips that those at the club like. He has captained the development squad over the last few months, and will have a chance of lifting the KSC at Priestfield in a couple of weeks. Was outstanding on Tuesday, pulling off a worldy late in the 1st half. Also has good, quick distribution, including a huge throw.

The coaching Staff have been singing Mitov's praises for a while now. A bit bonkers, like most good keepers! Has captained his country, so clearly has a presence about him. And what can you say about a player who will soon be recognised by the Guiness Book of Records?

I haven't seen the others, so I cannot comment, but with Henderson, Pope and Dimitrovic still being relatively young, you could say that keeping is not going to be an area of concern for a few seasons to come!
  • I more clean sheet away to Portsmouth.
  • A new clean sheet record for Bury according to SSN
  • Not sure how accurate these stats are but anyway, a Bury fan on twitter (@nomoresurfin) has a few interesting comparisons to make between Pope and the likes of Hart, Forster and Rob Green.

    - clean sheets in first 50 league games: Pope 27 Forster 26 Green 18 Foster 14 Butland 14 Hart 13

    - goals conceded in 1st 50 league games: Pope 35 Forster 39 Hart 58 Green 64 Foster 68 Butland 68
  • His clean sheet record at that level is exceptional. His kicking is a weak spot as is the mental toughness but that will come with experience

  • Pope beaten by southend 0-1
  • One more clean sheet against Wimbledon
  • Really glad to see him doing well. Great shot stopper, if he improved his distribution and coming for crosses he'll be a real asset in the future. Would like to see him in League 1 next season, the next step up for him.

Yet another clean sheet today - which secured automatic promotion for Bury as Southend lost. Well done Popey.
Not sure of his contract situation, but ideally he'll go back to them for a season long loan in League One next year.
  • Well done Bury (and Nick Pope). Do you think they'll want him for another season next year?

    He's got a contract until 2018.

I think the Bury fans love him don't they?
Can't imagine why they wouldn't want him or, for that matter, why he wouldn't want to go back there next year.
  • Seems ideal for Bury, us and Pope for him to spend a season with them in league 1.

  • Congratulations to Bury and Nick Pope. Probably be a good thing for Pope to continue there next season to get more first team experience at a higher level.
  • Repaying them for Deano.
  • Repaying them for Deano.

They did get a million pounds too!
  • He's had 2 very successful loan spells in League 2 now. I agree that a season long loan to a club he knows, now in League 1, would be great for him, perhaps with a possible recall in January clause.
  • It's not just a good league record in league two it is phenomenal. Someone posted the stats versus Joe Hart recently and Nick Pope is streets for head of where Hart was at the same time.

And I think the only thing that goes against him at the moment is he is mentally a little frail however if you can conquer that we really really have some goalkeeper on our hands.

From talking to guy luzon last week I can confirm he is delighted with our current goalkeeping crop and that included Mitov.
  • I don't think Pope will be here next Season. This is from Lefbehind.
  • Surprising doesnt sound as though Charlton have been in much contact with Pope since his loan move to Bury... Would have thought he'd have regular conversations with Ben Roberts surely
  • Think it will be a very big mistake selling Pope. A seasons loan to Bury will benefit him, us and Bury massively!
  • Getting rid would be the silliest decision since Kermorgant.

Another season loan (to League One) will be a good move but he needs to stick at the Valley and be our number one soon.
