He needs a good World Cup or Euros and/or win the Champions League to recognised as a truly great player. He's lauded in this country but he won't get worldwide recognition unless he leads England deep into a major tournament.
Thanks for the lols guys! But it's true, he's just a decent striker that's having a purple patch if you talk to anyone in Spain, France, Germany... if he wants to be a world great and prove them wrong, he'll need to do it on a world stage.
Very highly rated here in Spain - pretty much each week in Marca and AS there is a feature on how he is doing. As always, there is a bit of an idea that he should/will move to Real Madrid and after Modric and Bale they do consider Spurs as a bit of a feeder club even though they were beaten well by them in the Champions League this season.

3 seasons in a row is a bloody long 'purple patch' if you ask me!

Not saying that's my opinion because his class is there for any who watches the Premier League regularly to see.
I just don't think your average armchair PSG / Real / Bayern fan would be over the moon about signing him, yet. To them he's not yet a David Beckham or a Cristiano Ronaldo or a Neymar or a Lewandowski.
Great striker. But not in top 5 players in the world as one person said. I think he is just proving that he is the first world class player we have had in a very very long time.

If that is the case (and I don't think it entirely is), then it's probably more down to the fact he plays for Spurs and not a Real, United, Barca sized club rather than anything to do with his actual achievements.
On a side note I don't really understand the fascination fans have with trying to compare players when they make incredible feats like this. Best to focus on what he has done rather than pick holes by suggesting what he hasn't done.

Why not? He’s playing in a comparatively weak team in arguably the best league in the world and has the most goals in European football in the past year. He has more right to that title than Ronaldo does if we’re talking strictly individual achievement who won the Ballon D’Or on team merit.
Why do the media have to make up these pointless records? Football is played over a season and not a "Calendar Year".
True as far as all club stuff. But remember the individual awards such as The Ballon Door/World player of the year is done by the calender year and it is an individual relevant record.

I guess because the Ballon D'Or etc. is based on a Calendar Year performance rather than a Football season... Plus there are various Leagues in the World (Regardless of how good they are) which do run for a Calendar Year rather than running from August to May
Kane has scored 39 goals in his last 33 appearances. To put that in perspective, as a team, we have scored just 45 goals in our last 33 League matches.

Real Madrid fans would be delighted to get him, especially as they are on a poor recent run and Benzema is not rated at all by them.

The time period is an arbitrary human construct. The record is no more meaningful or pointless than any other. In this case, the measure is a consistent length of time and the individual is being measured within that time frame. It may not be relevant to the 'seasonal' nature of football, but that doesn't make it irrelevant to measuring the success of the individual.
Two page spread on Kane and his achievements in today's Marca, so I think it's fair to say the Spanish are keen on him. The article is typical Marca conjecture and hyperbole but they seem to think he will end up in Madrid. The only disadvantage they can see about him... he's English and we don't travel well!

You just don't get it do you?
It's as pointless as the BBC's African Footballer of the Year, WTF is that all about? Ticks a few boxes for the BBC, that's all.

Apparently not. Maybe you’re not very good at explaining your point.

Best league in the world? Sky has got to your head.

But still, 86 goals in a year is incredible.
Charlton Athletic we're better than Kane.
