I'm quite surprised by how negative some of the comments are on here. 5th in the league, 7 games played and not lost, winning 3 out of 4 games at home. I know some have said we can't go on about our opponents ie there is no easy game in this league, but the teams we have played and got results against are going to be up there at the end of the season without a doubt.
As for the game, a solid start, thought we were the better side for parts of the first half. Jacko had a golden chance and Tucedean should have had at least one, straight after we scored particularly sticks in my mind, that could have been 2-0 and would have really knocked it out of Wolves. It does worry me slightly that when we score we seem to sit back and invite pressure. We did ride our luck even at points during the first half although generally limited them to shots from outside the box. I was happy going in at half time if not a little disappointed we were not 2 to the good.
Second half, Wolves through everything they had at us, they are a team who know their strengths and really play to them. Ansah was giving our defence a torrid time and got in behind more than once before and after they scored. I'm guessing that was the reason Gomez switched to CB at the end. Thought Gomez had a solid game and as for Wiggins although he got skinned a few times he stuck to his guns and made an excellent match saving tackle (i think it was him) in about the 80th minute when they were one on one. The two CB's experience really does show and I'm very happy with them, that is exactly what you need in this league. Although I thought Henderson made some decent stops, I do think he is to hesitant for coming for cross and does not command his area well, also may be a little harsh but looked to me that he flapped at their goal and could have kept it out. I was in the North Upper so my view of it wasn't the best.
There was some good link up play late in the second half and although Wolves were clearly the better side, we still had chances to sneak it, Jacko should have done better late on, on his left peg and the shot was quite wide. Igor absolutely ran his heart out and really hope he isn't too badly injured, we need another striker on loan ASAP I think that much is clear. There were some positives last night but I agree with most that the midfield was overrun big time, Buyens is so calm on the ball but not great at defending and to have someone like him playing you need his partner to be able to cover a lot of ground and be able to keep up with the play, something I just don't think Jacko can quite do. Felt he had an average game but we are certainly lacking something in the middle. Final observation, Bulot and Moussa look creative and I'm pretty confident we will see a lot more of them on Saturday. Overall very satisfied with that point, very hard fought.
On we go to Rotherham, I'm looking forward to it and still feeling very optimistic about our season.
Thought we were poor against a lower mid table Wolves team and made them look better than they are. Still unbeaten and 5th is better than I would have expected and if we can bring in a body or two we will do fine.
Wolves are now unbeaten in five. They had won three games in a row before the Blackpool game, conceding just one goal in the process and were unlucky not to win there as well. They are a side that broke our 101 point record in League One last season, a side that know each other well and play some great football under a good manager. They will be right up there this season. Give them some credit.
Wolves will be up there this season. What a ridiculous, ignorant comment to make
Why? It's an opinion and based on the league table and their performance yesterday, they could well be.

A bit uncalled for GJ, I tend to agree with TRR, have a rethink and maybe explain why you came to that conclusion or say Solly and let's move on.

They were League One last year, I reckon they will be mid table this. That is credit as it shows improvement. I think we will end up about the same. Wolves were decent last night, I just thought our performance made them look better than they actually are. Watford and Derby look better teams to me notwithstanding current league position of Derby.

In what way? Is it ignorant or ridiculous to suggest they could be around the top six this season? I don't think so.
Not you, the other fella. I agree with your point.
I do wonder how much training the squad had done together before the two home games. A few key players were away all week on international duty, Buyens etc may have been allowed home for a day or two. Next home game vs Boro will be a good benchmark as we have all next week to train and work on tactics etc
Early in the second half, after Wolves had missed numerous chances due to poor finishing, as Watford had also done on Saturday, I worked it out. We are playing "Rope-a-Dope" football. (Anyone who can remember Ali v Foreman - "the Rumble in the Jungle" - will recognise the tactic).
This weeks nomination for "Dope of the week" is a joint award to Troy Deeney and Leon Clarke. How many chances do they need to score a goal?
Surprised no one has mentioned Jackos clear cut chance.
The Goal at the covered end was cursed last night
(i.e. the Wolves chance when they had an open goal, hit the post and bounced along the goal-line... Actually did Henderson save that on to the post initially?)
Henderson confused me, played well but was taking an age on goal and free kicks when scores were level. Felt like we were playing for a draw.
There was a funny moment when the ref started running towards Henderson to admonish him, presumably it knackered the ref because he gave up, and presumably gave up out of earshot...he was then reduced to a weak gesture which was akin to a six year old stamping their foot. I thought it was funny anyway, especially as the ref was so immobile throughout, he took up crap positions all evening.
Thought last night we're starting to look a decent side, the only thing missing was a Yann Kormergant type player to hold the ball up and provide a aerial presence.
Are we generally lacking in fitness throughout the team?
No, but for the second time in three days we spend 60% of the time without the ball. Thats where all the energy go's
Agree, players haven't suddenly lost the ability to compete already shown this season. Might indicate that you can't maintain the energy levels required for Bob's system week in, week out, with such a thin squad. That can be corrected so not unduly worried.
I think Yoni Buyens learned what a tough league physically the Championship can be last night. He wasn't as influential as on Saturday and the overall performance reflected that.
Very short highlights now up on the Youtube channel. didn't realise how poor their goal was from Henderson/defender. After Bikey does his celebration a Wolves fan giving it certain hand gestures from the safety of the stand behind a barrier made me laugh. Yes mate, I'm sure you'd do it face to face.
I wasn't at either game .. this time last year, 4 points from 2 home games against top4 clubs was naught but a wet dream wistful thought for most of the Addickted .. by most accounts, against the WMen, a bad/indifferent couple of performances .. but never mind that .. look at the season so far and the Championship League table .. all together now .. 'if you can play badly and still get decent results ...... etc etc
Don't forget all our new signings are not use to playing 2 games a week over an extended period, plus with international games as well. Mentally that is tiring.
Everyone's got the wrong idea. I'm agreeing with TRR and saying the other geezer is ridiculous and ignorant.
Ahh you quoted the wrong bloke then, that explains it. Easily done when you are trying to wire a plug. :-)

Fair enough - thought it was a bit odd! Flag removed!
So GJ aimed it at me! Flag replaced. Lol
Ignorant and ridiculous comment for saying on a fans forum my opinion that Wolves will end up mid-table. Ok mate.
To say that wolves are a lower mid table team is a ridiculous and ignorant statement. They took league 1 by storm and are off to an flyer in this league. To ignore all that and say that they're lower mid table is ridiculous and ignorant, yes.

It's interesting because against Derby, I counted one ball over the top all game. If they are starting to creep into our game, then yes we either need a target type player, or work on Tuc's aerial ability.

It was the hidden quote of AC who said Wolves were lower mid table which i assume GJ was referring to.
