As I opened this thread I said to myself Ray Treacy v Derby, thankfully well remembered by others on this site. I recall Brian Clough on Match of Day making us the hot favourites to accompany them in promotion to the first division … Typically we messed it up
Another unforgettable goal for me was the Simeonson v Chelsea effort. I attended the game alone and was standing on the East terrace - feeling a little vulnerable, as a group of dodgy looking Chelsea fans had taken up position behind me. The ref blew for a foul against Charlton and I shouted out, ‘rubbish ref’. This seemed to antagonise the Chelsea fans who then began to question my point of view. Following a short, ‘frank’ discussion, I put my collar up and faced the front again.
Within seconds … a moment of divine intervention took place. Simeonson picked the ball up, ghosted past several Chelsea players and slammed it home, top corner. I couldn’t resist, but inform the Chelsea fans that there was only one player on the pitch who was capable of doing that. My comment was followed by complete and utter silence. Thankyou God! Oh and you Allan of course.
In fact, any goal by Paul Mortimer! The mazy dribble against Bradford has been rightly cited, but I also remember an absolute screamer into the top corner from miles out - just no recollection of who against (maybe the same Bristol City one mentioned by DamoNorthStand), but I think we lost. There was another dribble against Forest in the 4-2 win in March 1998 when he seemed to take ages to pull the trigger and finally put it in - but being Morts, duly did so in his own time, what a moment.
Their have been so many .... but Solskjaers goal after Ryan Giggs shot from the halfway line. John Robinson' equaliser in the same game.
Vague memory of Paul Mortimer taking the ball around virtually the whole away team and then putting it through the goalie's legs! I was I dreaming! lol
Carl Leaburn's equaliser against Norwich to make it 4-4, when we were 4-2 down with 6 mins to go, with 10 men.
Shaun Newton's goal against Ipswich that sent us to Wembley (purely for the fact I had £10 on him as first goalscorer, and it paid for my day out at Wembley!!! lol)
Claus Jensen's goal against Blackburn, just after their goalie had equalised.
Jon Fortune's goal to send Palace down
There are just so many to choose from!!!!!
Lleriera (excuse spelling), his last gasp equaliser against Swindon, when we had 9 players. What the hell was he doing up there!!!!

Morts scored a belter against Stockport at home in 97-98 season.
Remember Morts scoring a rocket at Leeds in a 4-1 defeat in our first year in the Premier League. Made all the more entertaining as I was in the Army at the time based near Hull and got chased through Hull city centre by Leeds fans after the game.
Great thread and good to remember all those great goals.
A couple that I don't think have been mentioned. Kim Grant (didn't expect him to be on here!) scored a beautiful chip against Liverpool in the cup at Anfield (95?). I remember David James clapping the goal and then going up to him after the game to congratulate him. Bowyer's goal against Norwich I thought would get more mentions.
I can't vote for RVP as he shouldn't have been on the pitch, but it was Roy of the Rovers. Robbie Fowler scored two great goals against us on the last day of the season - one overhead form outside the box, one he bent in from the same area.

I gave you a LOL because the story made me chuckle - the thought of being chased through Hull by a bunch of Leeds fans is not so appealing, whatsoever!
Bartlett's and then Stevey Brown v Bradford, Brown's celebration was just cool and calm aswell, as if it was nothing.
Remember our first and only defeat at the Valley on our return to the Prem and that nobber Alex Rae scored a bit of a peach for Sunderland to beat us 1-0.
Hales v Hull or Bartlett for me. Van Persie's was a cracker, shin or no shin. I instantly thought of Berbatov's break from the half-way line - that was a killer.

That was the one - couldn't really believe we would have lost at home to Stockport in a season when we amassed 88 points, but it seems we actually lost to them both home and away (1-3, 0-3). Stockport finished 8th - now in Conference North!!
Lots of goals by Killer mentioned above, and Hull was great (especially as it was televised, goal of the season, etc) but I do like a spectacular strike from outside the area into the top corner, so I'm adding Hales v WBA on a Friday night in 75/76.
I remember being at that Stockport away game, standing on a floodlight cable. One of the worst performances I have ever seen, complete dross. Think that was the last terrible game before that famous run though.

Was at that West Brom game. Friday night home games under the lights were brilliant and we very rarely lost. We went 1.0 up and I am sure they equalised with a penalty before Hales turned inside just outside the box and lashed one into the top corner to win it. They had quite a good support down that evening, think they were going for promotion.
Always cracks me up when Paddy runs so fast down the wing he almost disappears off screen, while good old Phil Warman either doesn't notice or doesn't care, then the guy next to the TV mic shouts out "RUBBISH!" two seconds before one of the best goals you could ever hope to see. The whole experience of watching Charlton encapsulated in one short, never to be forgotten clip.
Comments
Bartlett for me, RVPs was a shinner.
Honourable mentions for Browny and Morts both vs Bradford in 97/98.
Remember Garland scoring a good one vs Bolton too but part of what made that feel spectacular was the angle I was watching from in the stand.

Although Nicky Bailey vs Millwall was a good'un as well.

Sir Colin Powell showing great movement and pace for Killer's goal!
