Simonsen v Chelsea in 82-83. He got two brilliant solo goals that day...one was slightly more of a mazy run than the other but I can't remember which one! (I've never seen either of them since).
Mo Johnston for Watford in the FA Cup 4th Round 1984. Volley from the corner of the area bent round round with the outside of his foot.
Hales v Hull Allan Simonsen v Chelsea(twice in 5 minutes) Bartlett v Leicester Lee Bowyer v Norwich John Robinson v Brentford FA Cup Paul Elliot v Reading League cup Colin Powell v Blackburn Mark Kinsella v Everton
Thought Treacy's volley was further out than that but I was only very young so things seemed bigger and further in those days! Just remember the pace of it and, as you say, the significance as we were chasing promotion. It was a blistering shot - the pace and perfection had to be seen to be believed. If you recall, Treacy scored a similar, if not better goal away at Palace - think it was the same season and possibly from further out?
Treacy's Derby goal on 18 Jan was sandwiched by two equally spectacular goals - Palace away in the Cup on 8 Jan (the second in a 2-0 win) and Fulham away on 15 Feb (1-0 win). Both of these involved a long clearance by Charlie Wright being headed on by Matt Tees, setting Ray Treacy free to run on and lash the ball home from the edge of the area. All three goals were absolutely brilliant, and all in a run of less than six weeks. Truly a golden age ....
Totally bias but Paul Mortimer v Bradford 97 i think. Solo, twinkle toed stuff. Made even better by the fact my dad had just told me for the thousandth time he was a lazy sod! Stevie Brown scored a screamer too that day i think. Anyone got the highlights to post?!
Didn't go early enough to see that Treacy goal though saw a few, so my all time favourite has to be Derek Hales agains t Hull which won the Goal of the season on The Big Match. Set up perfectly by Colin Powell.
Probably not the best for many but the one that sticks in my mind was Peter Garland's piledriver against Bolton. I was about 14 and Charlton obsessed. I was right behind it in the Covered End. A proper thunderbolt.
That game was my first at the Valley and the start of it all for me. Taken by my then next door neighbour who still sits near me. The east stand was being built. We sat in the JS and had to walk across the east terrace to get to it. Fatty Garland was brilliant that day. It was a bit like saturday - Bolton had most of the game but we won.
Other favourites for me were Dale Stephens v Bury and a goal score by David Thompson for Blackburn in about 2005 I guess. League cup tie. We were 2 -0 up and managed to lose 3-2. Thompson scored an absolute screamer from 30 yards. I instinctively jumped up and shouted "wot a goal". I was neither proud nor popular!

Has to be Treacy/Derby/18 Jan 69. From (faltering) memory - he received the ball deepish on the left, took it forward and then fired it out to the right to ?Curtis who raced on with it and smashed in a low, hard cross to just around/behind the D where the onrushing Treacy in full stride met it perfectly on the volley to send an unstoppable shot rocketing past the keeper into the Covered End goal. Broke 75 mins of deadlock in a pulsating table-topper witnessed by 30K (final score 2-0). For Gawd's sake can some kind soul please find the link and put it up on here ??!!
Honourable mentions: Hales/Hull/09 Oct 76. Beautifully worked goal violently finished into the Covered End goal. Made it 2-0 (final 3-1). Won the ITV goal of the season. Newton/Hudds/09 Apr 97. Late-ish in an average season, a lively but inconsequential game was distinguished by a fabulous display by the Hudds keeper. They were down to 10 before half-time but nonetheless equalised with a quarter hour to play. The goalie continued his unbelievable heroics, but around the end of normal time a flat, high-speed head-high cross was met by Newton on the edge of the box and well to one side of the goal with an absolute cannonshell header that flew into the Covered End goal just under the bar. Greatest header ever, apart from J.Fortune, R.Rufus, etc Bartlett/Leicester 01 Apr 01. Fabulous long ball from Stuart met with a stupendous volley into the Covered End goal. Came late with the match standing at 1-0, in a mid-table season. MoTD goal of the season. Kermorgant/Smurfs/05 May 12. Stunning piece of skill late on with the full-house match standing at 2-2. Already champions. Er, Covered End again.
Oppo goals: been too many of them and each and every one too painful to think about ....

He did, and he got another like that against Fulham away, set up by Matt Tees flick header - route one!
Stoke in the League Cup when we were in the Prem, and their left midfielder (who was Scandanavian I believe), advanced from his own half and hit a beauty into the top corner from what seemed like 45 yards. I think that Sasa Illic was in goal, and he never bothered moving. I was right behind it, and it looked like a perfect 2/3 iron that just gaining pace and height evenly. Think we lost that game as well.
This. great goal, was it Joey Gudjohnsson?
Most of the plastic fans on here wouldn't have been at that midweek League Cup game so won't get many mentions outside us true, loyal supporters :-)

Off topic, but I seem to remember their consolation goal being a bit dodgy. (It was the 4-1 game, right?) Really hazy memory, but I seem to remember their scorer being a little brazilian and a nasty piece of work. Maybe I'm misremembering. Also, wasn't Eddie Youds playing for Bradford that game prior to us signing him the same season?
Bartlett for me but Lisbies 3rd against Liverpool gets an honourable mention, he did it all himself and coasted it into the bottom corner.
Best against us......I seem to remember Parker when he was at Newcastle blasting one and then covering his mouth to taunt us, stupid celebration but the goal was stunning.

That was the one !! As I said, couldn't remember either team or player.
Sorry to bring up bad memories but Berbatov's goal for Spurs in the game you got relegated at the Valley was special.
Ledders played the ball up to him on half way, with Talal El Karkouri tight behind him. He spun, flicked the ball one way, ran round the other, held him off and slotted it into the corner.
Shame the only footage of it on You Tube is so poor you cant see how good it was but it may jog your memory...
If you put all the great goals on a highlight reel back to back without replays then Van Persie's wins by a country mile, no debate whatsoever. But as already said, the shin aspect does niggle me when you see the replay slowed down.
So with that, I'm going to go with either Kermorgant v Hartlepool, or the Paul Konchesky free kick against Blackburn.
Against - No Idea who the team was (maybe Oxford) or even the player. but it was a League Cup tie about 10 yrs ago & the usual defeat by lower league opposition .......bloke hit a curling shot into the top corner from about 30 yards which sealed our fate.
I've seen loads of these goals and whilst I find it hard to argue against any of them, I'd have to go for Friedel's goal against us. As a kid I'd always wanted to see a keeper score (and to catch the ball when it's gone into the crowd), failing that Lisbie's hat trick against Liverpool was the last time I think I went nuts down there and really enjoyed myself.....

Almost anyone on this forum could have scored a world class goal against Charlton that day/ season. My Spurs mates don't even bother going there. It was like winning Championship Manager using a cheat code.
Paul Went scored a goal with a thumping header when surrounded by three opposition defenders. Not the greatest goal, but a really firm header and great strength to hold off the others. I have a feeling it was against Pompey, but I might be confusing it with the night when we beat Pompey 4-1 in pouring rain amid chants of "Who's undefeated?" as they were last team in the entire Football League to remain unbeaten.

well remembered i was just going to put that

Bartlett also for me.
Went round about 7 players and just slotted it in.
Against - RVP

Fecking hell that berger goal is incredible.
