Wasn't at the game but from what's being said so far it sounds very much like we are better than we were last season. So I can't understand why there is such negativity in some posts? A house divided against itself cannot stand - 100% positivity is necessary!

Why does everyone have to be 100% positive ? This is not the Moonies or North Korea !

You must be aware of our failings, but stay positive we can improve. Certainly better than last season
Went to the game. Brighton had a lot of possession, especially in the first half. Didn't always do a lot with it, but I hope in time we improve ourselves when it comes to keeping the ball. Creating chances when we do have the ball seems to be less of an issue - what a difference a goalscorer makes. There were 2/3 chances I can remember in the second half in which a better final ball was needed, again hopefully that improves in time.
Pleased for Church, set up our second goal and surprisingly won a few a headers. A decent performance from him. Never the answer as a goalscorer but playing alongside Vetokele and in a better team he might offer something if we don't manage to bring a striker in. It takes the pressure off him and he can be the one linking the play, holding up the ball etc. While he's not the greatest at that side of the game, it's got to suit him more than playing alongside someone like Yann leaving him as the one expected to score goals.
It's great that we always look like we can score goals, a big improvement on last season, but it's still frustrating that we still can't keep a clean sheet. Saying that we've played sides that you'd expect to at least challenge for the play-offs. I'm not sure we have found our strongest side yet, and it'll be interesting to see what Bulot has to offer.
More to come from this team, that was a big improvement on the last time we played at the Amex, and we were more threatening going forward than the time before that.

I think you mean people in general, not you, meaning me @ross1. I don't largely disagree with what you are saying.
I am just commenting that not everyone has to be 100% positive. This is not 'Brave New World' and everyone has to take soma (happiness pills / Brave New World) with happiness as a mandatory state.
It would be a rubbish forum if everyone agreed and had to present 100% positivity.
Gonna delete out all the silly squabble stuff so please no more. People want to read about Charlton, not grown men calling each other names on the internet

Yes, I mean everybody, not just you, and I was agreeing, you can't be 100% positive even if we were top of Premier, there are always room for improvement, just being realistic
I was at the game... couldn't really see much from my seat given that I was virtually eye level with the pitch. The day started badly when I realised that for some reason the ticket office had sent out my batch of four tickets in different places around the away end so split the family up, oh well...
As for the game though, from what little I could see, I thought that even though Brighton had the lion's share of the possession we never really looked too troubled apart from their goals. They had a couple of near misses but the replays in the stadium showed that Henderson had them covered.
Igor is my MOTM for obvious reasons, but also on a number of occasions he was back helping out in defence, one sliding tackle in particular sticks in the mind. Bikey would have been a close contender if Igor hadn't scored both goals, and Solly was quality all afternoon. Buyens is so calm and collected on the ball too, love the way he drops back and supports the defence. Wiggins seemed a slight improvement again on previous weeks (if still not great).
Negatives were how poor Cousins was at the start of the second half. You could see him lose a bit of belief as the mistakes and misplaced passes just kept coming and it was no surprise he was taken off. I love Gudmundson but that was his worst game for us too.
Simon Church was probably better than I've seen him for some time but that's not saying much. I can only assume he had been told to hold back at times because half the time he chased down lost causes and the other half he strutted around not chasing anything.
Having said that - from where I was sat it looked a definite penalty on Church and if the replays show that to be the case then we've been mugged off by the ref. I could have sworn Spongeboot's foot was caught and in real time it looked like he was unlucky to get booked for diving.
Our time wasting is pretty shocking this season under Bob isn't it? Obviously I didn't mind it as we were winning, but I could understand the Brighton fan's frustrations. We were bad at Brentford on the opening day and it seems it's part of our tactics away from home. Today was pretty extreme though.
Terrible atmosphere at the AMEX until they scored. I thought we were great and made a lot of noise, nice to not have any crowd trouble for the first time for a few years down there either.
Overall I had a good (if expensive day out) and we're still unbeaten. Two games at home to come now, September looks like it has a few winnable matches. Hoping we get another quality striker in on Monday as while I don't think Tucudean was as bad as some thought we are clearly woefully short in that position, especially if Igor gets injured.
Finally, I was surprised to see Big Bob give Henderson such a bollocking on the pitch at the end of the match. Not sure if was having a go about his positioning for their equaliser which looked a bit suspect from the replays. Good to see that throwing the points away hurts Bob as much as us fans.
At the game, thought we played a classic away team performance, defending well and catching them on the break. Igor was excellent and his composure for the second goal was a joy to see. Well done to Church for making it as well. THought Brighton's no 17 (Teixeira?) was excellent, noticed he kept switching sides to try against Solly or Wiggins. For all his industry, they didn't get a lot of end product and while I thought that Brighton would definitely score, it's telling that the 2nd was from a corner. They had loads more corners than us, and possession. Henderson made an excellent save early on, and I thought Buyens was commanding today.
Thought our fans were very vocal, just under 2k there. Brighton very quiet until their second goal. Enjoyed the stadium, as we came from Seaford on the train (staying with relatives) the price doesn't seem so high. Hung around for a beer afterwards and they showed highlights in the concourse which was a nice touch. Got the train just before 6 and it wasn't too crowded on the station.
Just got back. Had great seats just behind Joe Gomez and the Charlton dugout (thanks to the lino) and I can tell you what, Bob Peeters is an angry man watching the game. Seemed to be constantly disappointed at what was occurring on the pitch - hopefully that is just heat of the moment stuff.
As for the game it reminded me so much of a Chris Powell (move on) away game from a couple of the seasons ago. We gave Brighton all of the ball and territory. João Teixeira absolutely ran the game and I think we gave him far too much time to set up attacks. Luckily for us, Brighton on the whole were pretty toothless when they got near the 18 yard line. Unlike in previous games I've seen of this team I was not confident that we were going to be able to counter-attack and so it proved.
Thankfully we have a goalscorer now and Igor's first was a great effort that was followed up by an outstanding save from Henderson almost straight from kick off. The Brighton equaliser(s) were both very disappointing considering for pretty much the whole game, from open play, we were dealing with balls in the box very well.
Church's skill (!) for our second was superb and the composure shown by Vetokele to produce the finish was top class.
Looking around the pitch I though Cousins had a very poor game both from an involvement point of view and his touch was poor - probably time to start Gudmonssen out on the left with Wilson on the right.
The back four once again looked assured albeit a few last ditch lunges from TBH and Bikey probably papered over some dodgy positioning. Jacko and Yoni were terrier-like and had good games closing down a technically superior midfield. Well done Simon Church as well (stupid fans booing him when he came on), great effort and brilliant assists.
Disappointed to "lose" two points but on the balance of the game it was fair enough.
Just got it. Sitting low in the stand behind he goal is not the best view to give an objective opinion of the performance. To be honest I think a draw is he most we deserved so I will happily take it. We had two shots on target and scored both. What a finisher Igor is proving to be. Does his fair share of work off the ball too.
Thought Brighton were the better team. Very neat and spread the ball wide quickly. However, in the first half Henderson had one save to make. Our passing was not great and this invited pressure,
Second half the game opened up a little. Church actually gave us more of an outlet an Tucudean and he did ok. Brighton had a fair number of corners and eventually scored from one. Then, somehow, we went ahead again. Vetokele twisted and turned before prodding home. Again Brighton came at us. Then the equaliser. This is where zonal marking worries me. We cleared the initial corner but then the ball was played wide again, what happens now? As players move out to close the cross down surely you go man to man? We didn't and Dunk had a free header.
Performance wise Cousin was off the pace as was Tucudean. Bikey made some unforced errors. Thought Buyens looked decent but again was hard to get a great view of individual performances
Enjoyable game though, however I think Brighton will be above us come the end of the season.
I don't expect us to win promotion but I think Roland should definitely invest more if we are in this position in January, I think we just look like a club that is more driven which is making up for our deficiencies like our defence and lack of depth. We have a decent squad but if we are in with a shout in a few months time then surely a quality player or two could push us over the line, just checked the fixture list and asides from some harder games in September, it gets quite easy for us and we could definitely get a good run going
At the game, early goal was great work and finish by Igor to give us the perfect start. Then we seemed happy for the oppo to have possession whilst we got men behind the ball. I don't like singling out individuls but any forward move through Cousins seemed to break down. Tucadean did very little and without a target man who can hold the ball up, it is coming back and so it did. Buyens continued his good form breaking up play and trying to get something going forward. TBH had a good first half reading the game well snuffing out any threat and distributing the ball well. Bikey was man mountain again. JBG showed glimpses of his ability and JJ kept plodding away. Both fullbacks were tested but stuck to the task.
Second half we started sluggishly and BBB was soon out of the dugout demanding more urgency. We made very few forays forward and seemed content to defend the one goal lead until the battlements were breached from a set play. For once however the zonal marking system failed and the ball was powerfully headed into the postage stamp above Solly's desperate headed attempt to keep it out. Difficult to say who was at fault but their man seemed to get a very clean connection. Their crowd got behind them and could smell blood but to our credit we broke, Church did great to stay on his feet after being clipped and he passed to Igor whose fleet of foot beat the the keeper to the delight of the travelling hoards sending them into rapture.
Cousins not surprisingly had been withdrawn for Wilson and Gudmundson was the next to be subbed for Fox. Injury time arrived and we could see the finishing line, their keeper came up for a corner which we half cleared and the ball went back in to their CB totally unmarked who buried it for a heartbreaking late equaliser. It's easy with hindsight but after the first goal I would have liked to see Moro introduced instead of Fox for his heading ability. The back four play it out nice from the back but question marks must be raised over their failure to keep a clean sheet. Henderson made a great reflex save in the first half but his inability to do anything to prevent either goal is of concern whether it be the attempts on goal or the crosses. We have a threat going forward but there were too many average or below performances in the midfield for me today. Church offered more than George when he came on but we desperately need a target man. Still undefeated in the league though, more positives than negatives compared to this time last season and what a signing Igor is turning out to be.
Just back, gutted not to have held on but tbh Brighton had all the possession and would've been hard done by if they lost.
Igor was fantastic again, Church did well when he came on. Slight concern for me is we didn't keep the ball well today and still no clean sheet. Great start though and I hope we can bring some extra quality in on Monday as we could be in with a great shout of the play offs
Don't know why people are so surprised Church did well to set up a goal. His problem is he's got a marshmallow shot and isn't a prolific goalscorer. His work rate and ability to unsettle defenders and work the ball up the pitch has never been in doubt. With Igor providing the goals I think there's a role for Church in the latter stages of matches as he proved today

IMO its not worth making any conclusions until at least 10 games played.
Still its looking much more positive than last year.
So I can't understand why there is such negativity in some posts?
A house divided against itself cannot stand - 100% positivity is necessary!
Personally thought a draw was deserved, poor defending for the 2nd goal but otherwise a solid performance..comment on games you have watched fella

Happy with a point and still unbeaten---when the Bermondsey Pikeys actually play a decent team they loose end of

On other issues great goalscorer igor I hope he stays fit
Unbeaten in the league still and scoring goals
