"Boro agree deal for **** Friday 11th July 2014 13:42" - oh good, boro gazumped us for tbh.
1. Factually incorrect. His signing is on the OS. 2. This is a thoroughly racist comment (hence why I've starred the post I'm quoting) and is both offensive and unnecessary.
Excellent signing in my view , I took some stick on here when I suggested this during the last window . In squad terms I see him as replacing Cort . I also think TBH could be instrumental in Gomez's development.
When Paul Elliott broke through at a similar age in the early 80's he was partnered by the old Welsh warhorse Leighton Phillips who had a top level career with Aston Villa . I felt those two complemented each other , hopefully TBH can do a similar job with Joe.
With Bikey, Morrison and Lennon I now feel we have improved our defensive options.
I do wonder about some things - apart from the "expensive" players we have "bought" and who have not yet beaten our opponents from Brentford, Blackpool, or Colchester in the Cup.
Our new manager is 40 years old. Johnnie Jackson is merely seven years younger - and like Bikey and Ben-Haim, for instance - he has far more knowledge and hard-earned experience of how to win and defend in the Championship than Bob Peeters.
I don't want a manager who kicks every ball, exasperated by a missed chance, and rushes down the touchline like Barry Fry. For Charlton, we need a sage-like Wengeresque authority: intelligent, silent and knowing - even if he's wrong.
Our manager is an unknown quantity to us, granted - but he did a first class job last season arriving in January and saving lost cause Waasland-Beveren from certain relegation from the top flight Belgian league.
No guarantees that he'll do well at Charlton. But he has apparently earned big respect in Belgium.
I don't give a shit if Big Bob spends the whole game dancing up and down the touchline or spends the whole ninety minutes meditating peacefully so long as we win games. That's all that counts, and all that ever will.

Winning games isn't the be all & end all. At the moment I'd settle for entertaining football, which will hopefully produce a few nice victories. Seen too much dire football played at the valley over the last couple of seasons................

I'd take dull wins over exciting losses every single time. Of course I would take exciting wins over both no questions asked! I think we've got the players to play some genuinely threatening attacking football, I was merely taking question with Viewfinder's apparent belief that 'a sage-like authority: intelligent, silent and knowing - even if he's wrong...' would make any difference on the touchline or in the dressing room when frankly, that's bollocks.

Precisely. That is the low horizon of your ambition. Duchaletet has imposed on us - the fans - a manager from Waasland-Beveren. Who on God's earth are they?
Peeters is here on a one-year contract -specifically so that Duchatelet can sack him cheaply if it all goes tits up. I find it very odd that you clamour for our 18-year-old hopefuls to be given five-year contracts - Gomez, Holmes-Dennis and the rest - when they have never even beaten a Barnsley defender.
Peeters is merely 40. When Brentford kick off against us soon, they will not be thinking about our players, or our marvellous academy, or our ethics or our integrity. Brentford have all of those qualities of their own; every single club in the Championship has them. We lost repeatedly at home last season - and the one before - because we lacked the basic skills of accurate passing and quick movement.
I am old and ugly enough to remember our first away game of the season at Twerton Park in 1990. Bristol Rovers were lodging with Bath City in a tin-pot little ground. We had just been relegated from the top division, and the Gas-Heads had just come up from the third. We lost that one: 2-1.
Isn't it about bloody time we stamped our authority?

I think you'll find that Wenger is never wrong. Sometimes, I admit, he is right and the rest of the world is wrong, but he is never wrong.
It took me several attempts to explain to my old Father-in-law that we hadn't signed Yossi Benayoun. Of course describing him as having played for both West Ham and Chelsea and being an Israeli didn't help my cause. "and Liverpool" he insisted. I think I got there in the end, but not convinced he's not expecting Yossi to trot out in Midfield on the opening day of the season.
I was just skimming over his career. Seems he made a series of really bad career moves since he was a regular at Bolton and was a victim of external circumstances at Pompey.
I question his hunger to actually play games to be honest. It has been a long time since he had a real run of games and he is going to have to really put in the hard work if he doesn't want his career to peeter out.

Brian Clough managed Hartlepool
I understand that you are nervous because he doesnt have managerial experience of the championship. but at least he knows the league from playing and clearly has knowledge of English game.
He is ours so get behind the man.
how old is Eddie Howe then?
we have all seen lows but no point in crticising without any foundation.

from what i can tell Peeters is seen in belgium a lot like roberto martinez was seen here 12 months ago, saved a club that would usually be certs for relegation all whilst playing attractive football with talented young players.

If he's half as good as Martinez then I'll take that.
When the going gets tough and we lose a few, we will need to go back to basics. The 'young guns' will not know what that means. It is then that Tal and the other experienced players will show their worth.

THEIR CLUB offered him a contract and all he did was want to see it honoured, nothing wrong with that.
How would they feel about him walking out and joining Southampton in the middle of his deal, that OK too?

(apologies if that's been said before).
Welcome TBH

I hope it works out for him.
I know we lost at Welling, but no need to overreact.
;o)

A very good signing IMO.
Welcome.
