Big Announcement

  • You guys !

Along comes a BIG announcement that shows the Club HAS been listening & yet it gets a lukewarm response...there really is no pleasing some folk.

No offence FF, but who the supplier of the half time burger is is not something most fans would class as a BIG announcement.

Not suggesting that the change of supplier is important news but the fact that the supplier IS changing should be.

My understanding is that the previous supplier was contracted for at least another year & hence changing this would be difficult/expensive ( not totally sure about this so please don't quote me) although the powers that be were very keen to "upgrade"

The fact that a change is being made , to a reputable supplier ( if it's good enough for the Gooners, then....!) suggests to me that the Club has listened to the fans and is probably spending good money on improving the merchandise.

I know it's not mega news but surely anything that benefits the "Charlton experience" has to be good ?

Don't forget that it's done solely for profit and we, the fans, pay for it.

The word "cynical" isn't in my dictionary, VF....

Maybe you should preach to those who DO buy the merchandise.

As I stated earlier, it doesn't apply to me.

But I was savouring the thought of your reality checks bouncing, Fanny...

No it's not. It's done because they're passionate about catering.
  • So im guessing it'll be about £4/£4.50 for a bottle of carlsberg....

So pretty much the same as most of London then!

Am looking forward to a decent burger rather than the vile slice of mystery meat twixt a stale roll. And just more choice generally. Perhaps my dinner on Tuesday night games will now be more then a bovril and a chunky kit kat bar!
I just hope that if we are going onto bottled beers they invest in some bigger fridges as at almost every ground that sells bottles that I have been to, you are left with warm beers before half time!
much bigger fridges because I expect bigger bottles for that price. 33cl don't cut it.

Most clubs have the 500ml bottles and £4/£4.50 isnt too bad AS LONG AS ITS COLD.

  • “I would finally like to thank all the staff who have worked tirelessly for Charlton over many years within the catering, conference and banqueting and sales and operations areas. They are a credit to the club and we are pleased that so many of them will now embark on a new journey with Delaware North at The Valley.”

When they've finished the journey, will they still be in the same place?

    Blimey RE. let it go.
  • I cannot abide beer in bottles. There is nothing worse than a warm, flat clarlsberg in a bottle at a football match. Such a let down at away games when you are presented with a bottle. You can't beat a cold draft pint of lager!
  • Curb_It has it sorted, moules frites and Leffe. Way to go gal! But I liked the catering staff and found them to be very friendly plus they went out of their way to be helpful to kids and big kids like me. My best wishes to them all, I hope I'll see them again.

Agreed. The plastic bottles make it worse. The warm Carlsberg at Wembley was the most disgusting beer I have ever tasted in my life.
