Run-Ins

The picture will be a lot clearer at the end of Friday and Saturday's games, but here are the run-ins for the teams around us. For those saying we're down etc we have a game in hand (admittedly useless if you're not putting points on the board in them) but it's still one more opportunity than the others. Also, taking the Watford game out of the equation whose run-in would you prefer out of the 5? I'd pick Charlton every time.

19. Doncaster - 43 pts - Derby (h), Millwall (a), Reading (h), Leicester (a)
20. Blackpool - 42 pts - Burnley (h), Brighton (a), Wigan (a), Charlton (h)
21. Charlton - 41 pts - Bolton (h), Sheff Wed (a), Blackburn (h), Watford (h), Blackpool (a)
22. Millwall - 40 pts - Middlesborough (a), Doncaster (h), QPR (a), Bournemouth (h)
23. Barnsley - 39 pts - Leeds (h), Derby (a), Middlesborough (a), QPR (h)

  • Would definitely prefer to have the fixtures that we've got although the Millwall v Doncaster game on Monday will be huge
  • I'd gather you are saying Yeovil have gone? For what its worth here is my total points workings out..............hopefully!
    Doncaster 46pts
    Blackpool 43pts
    Charlton 46pts
    millwall 42pts
    Barnsley 45pts
  • One shock result from any team will change everything though. Lower down teams don't necessarily equate to easier games.

Man City and Everton learnt that tonight.
  • True, but I'd much rather be playing the teams in the irrelevant mid-table area than the ones in / knocking on the play-offs. They're up there for a reason, although that does count for a lot less in the Championship...

Not discounted Yeovil entirely but they really would need a miracle!

Given up at this time of the season with predicting results. Teams at the bottom with everything to play for will often beat teams higher up. I have no idea if we will stay up or not because any one the teams at the bottom could go on a run.

  • I think Millwall are the team that will def stay up. Boro nothing to play for, reckon they will beat Donny lose to QPR and reckon Bournemouth will have nothing to play for last game.

I think Donny and Blackpool are in big trouble just praying it doesn't go to the last game for us and Blackpool as I can see them turning us over if we both need it.

Our next 4 games are against teams with nothing to play for with the exception of possibly Blackburn. Surely we should be able to pick some points up against Bolton, Sheff W and Watford.

Barnsley fight to the end every season and with their fixtures I can see them beating Leeds, losing to Derby, getting something at Boro and beating QPR. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if that twat Redknapp puts out a reserve team against them.

Teams to go down, Yeovil, Donny and Blackpool.

Surprised Brum haven't been given a mention they may still get dragged into this.
  • Worse run-in I had was with an ex-birds Dad.....
  • Tell me when it's all over....

Think we need 2 wins to be ok.
  • I would say with a game in hand and a couple of teams above us who we can overtake, we should in normal circumstances be confident of staying up. Pretty sure we will be ok.
  • I reckon spanners will beat boro away and Doncaster at home. Don't think doncaster will pick up any more points.

Think blackpools only chance of picking up points is against us.

Still think Barnsley will pick up 3 points.

  • Agree with Nicholas, QPR will rest their entire squad last game of the season as they will already be safe in playoffs. We really need to be safe by then which means beating Bolton tomorrow for a start.
  • I can't see where we're going to to pick up our next win from. All of the compose that Jose instilled in the team went out of the window on Tuesday just when we needed it most.
  • Blackburn and Watford may well still be in the play off mix when we meet them - won't be easy games.
  • It's going to hinge on the Blackpool game. I can feel it in my bones.
  • From what I hear Blackpool have let all of their youth players go, they pay the lowest wages in the whole league, all is not well inside the club.

We have one of their ex youth players on trial at the moment.
  • I predict
    Brum - 50
    Barnsley -45
    Doncaster -45
    Millwall - 44
    Blackpool -43
    Yeovil -42

Have no idea what we'll end up with but I expect we'll win at least 1 of our remaining games
  • Can't envisage Donny or Blackpool getting much from theirs, but I think it's fair to say it's an absolute lottery at this point. The phrase clutching at straws leaps to mind..!
  • Blackpool and Donny wont win any more games but if we slip up against Bolton we will be well in the s,h*t,where have our games in hand got us?
  • We've played one (lost), of two games in hand. What you talkin' 'bout Willis ?

At one stage we had 4 games in hand, we have played 3. Won 2 Bournemouth & Leeds Lost 1 Barnsley

  • we will stay up cos Blackpool and Donny will end up below us even if Barnsley and smallwall win or not
  • Donny have some tough games but should be more up for Monday, think they know they are going to struggle against Reading and Leicester so need something against Millwall
  • problem is by the time Millwall play their last 2 games both QPR & B'mouth wont have anything to play for - QPR will be in the play off's (as both Burnley & Leicester will be promoted) and they will be wanting to take it easy and B'mouth wont be able to get into the play offs by then.

But probably the same applies to us with Blackburn and Watford.
  • The strange thing is, that although we cannot score, we have the best goal average out of the bottom six
  • After today's games we are above Blackpool and only 1 point behind Donny with a game in hand.

Although I didn't think so at the time maybe Riga was right to preserve the point with the Hughes substitution?

    Yeovil - 39 (DLD)

  • I think it's going to be Barnsley, Donny and Yeovil for the chop now. We need three points now I reckon.
  • Have to agree 3 possibly 4 points is needed - going to be tough but then we never make it easy!
