Thank you, Chris, for some great memories and for your unstinting commitment to this club. You have shown enormous dignity and professionalism in the most difficult of circumstances over the last two seasons, all of which are appreciated by us and those in the wider game.
You may only have been a manager for three years but, rather like Lenny Lawrence in his early years, you have already acquired a wealth of experience. All the very best in your future career, which I am sure will be a great success. You will always be revered in SE7.
Thanks Chris for once again making Charlton a club to be proud of. You embody the spirit of Charlton and what has made this club different and better than all the rest.
I wish you all the best for the future, and want you to know that you will ALWAYS receive the warmest of welcomes at the Valley. Ownership of the club is temporary, our respect and gratitude to you is permanent.
Chris, you fleetingly gave us our Charlton back. Others have snatched it away! You understood us, we love you and will always respect you. Hopefully one day you will be back here in charge where you belong. But thanks seems too small a word. Sir Chris will always be a Charlton legend - nobody can take that away from you.
I'll always remember your celebration leaps at the end of a match. I used to have my dad help me up onto the seat for me to see you. Excitedly waiting for you to run back out of the tunnel.
You really are a true Charlton legend. This really is a sad day in Charlton history. From the moment you stepped foot on the pitch for us you have been held dear in our hearts.
You are a fantastic sportsman, fair, strong willed and passionate and you have shown love to our club like no one.
You pushed on and kept us going even when you never had the support from the board. That takes courage and perseverance.
Take pride in what you have done for us and don't doubt for a moment, the decisions you have made for us.
It is heartbreaking that you have been pushed out but I wish you the very best going forward and may you find a club where you will be truly valued and supported. Know that the fans have always loved you.
Remain strong and continue to not allow directors and the money bags bully you into making decisions.
I will always remember you as a true Charlton legend and I will relay stories about you to my children!
Thank you,Chris.for all that you have done for our club. We've enjoyed watching you as a player, that rapport you had(and will still have)with our fans and the way you conducted yourself.A truly great professional. You have had an enormous amount to contend with in three years and still managed to win league one at a canter and finish ninth last season.Twenty four away wins in two seasons too!And that was without funds and having to deal with all the peripheral policies of old and new owners.Congratulations Chris.and the very best of luck for the future,I'm sure your success will continue.
Chris, you did gave us our Charlton back but unfortuanatley others would not let us keep it. Legend is an overused word, but for me you and Derek Hales are my Charlton legends. I will always be grateful for what Lennie Lawrence and Curbs did for the club but you had a special connection with the fans, you seemed to get what we at Charlton are all about. I now take my 5 year old Grandson to the Valley and I am sure he will find it difficult to understand why you are no longer with us. I have no doubt that you will go on to be a success and I sincerley hope you do, but a part of me does not want you to have such a special relationship as you do with us at Charlton. What you achieved should not be underestimated and this season no right thinking individual could have expected more with the very limited resources that you had. Charlton have always been my club and always will but today it just does not seem the same a fact that upsets me greatly.
I have had time to reflect and my view and opinion has changed slightly.
I wish SCP all the best in his future endeavours, however I agree he had to leave or be backed and if he was not willing to join the new ways... the door was opened and he was thrown from it. His act of defiance cost us a FA CUP Semi-Final.
I will always love Chrissy Powell. Charlton Legend.
Good luck, Sir Chris. Thanks for taking a stand, thanks for the memories, thanks for keeping the old Charlton spirit alive for longer than you had any right to. You'll always be a legend.
Go on Chrissy get yourself a Managerial position at a club that will appreciate you and allow you to run it in the traditional way. We were glad you came and brought a smile to our faces and ran the club with dignity, sincerity and passion. All the best for your future career, I am sure you will be a Premiership Manager sooner rather that later. Onwards and upwards Chrissy!
It's an over-used phrase Chris, but you are a genuine club legend - just a shame that the "outsiders" don't understand how important that is. Thanks for all you've done for the club and all the best for the future. I'm sure you have a great career in management ahead of you.
One of, if not my, happiest moment watching Charlton was when you scored against Coventry. That was a great day, as was the day I brought my son to The Valley for his birthday party when we lifted the League One trophy.
Chris, I have been reading this site for many years and never posted. But I have to for you. You brought back the Charlton that I know and love. You are an absolute legend, not only with what you achieved here as a player and a manager but, more importantly, a legend as a man and a person.
Please walk away with your head held high knowing you did a phenomenal job and we will always love and respect you.
Good luck wherever you end up and I hope we see you back at the valley soon.
Ditto all of the positive statements being expressed on here, I hope it is the one thread someone brings to his attention....
I quite liked my wife's take on it when I emailed her from work to tell her he'd been sacked.
'Nooooo they haven't oh that's so terribly sad. Why would they do that? He's so lovely. In his suits. When he got thrown up and down. Couldn't they have made it work till the end of the year?? xxx
Thanks for everything! I will never forget the speech that you made at the end of last season. Myself and every other fan I know is incredibly proud of you and what you have achieved. You allowed us to be proud of our club again.
SC will always have a place in all charlton fans heart and will never be forgotten for what he did for us as a player and gaffer .I know there are many of us that appreciate what Chris has done for this club.
I will personally see he gets this thread to appreciate the depth of gratitude, so if, like me, you want to pass on your thanks, please do so on this thread, or copy and paste into it any of your relevant posts.
(ps. This is not a thread for debate, every other one is for that. It you are pleased by this decision, please respect the intention of this thread and use another, thanks)
Thanks Chris for your hard work and commitment to the club both as player and manager. Must have been very hard to stay professional with everything going on at the club. Hope you find a new job quickly when you want one.

If you are able to make sure he gets this deno that would be great. He deserves to know how highly he was thought of:)
Thank you Chris. Things have ended sooner and in a different position than I, and I'm sure you and many others, would have hoped but whatever the ins and outs of where the club finds itself today and what has gone on behind the scenes during your time in charge, you have retained honesty and integrity throughout. Sadly, it would appear you have eventually paid the price for sticking to your principles and for that you have gone up even further in my estimation. You have represented CAFC in the best possible way, the club may be bigger than you as an individual, but I can't think of an individual who better represents what is special about this club.
I hope you still love the club, because we still love you. The very best of luck for the future. Don't rush back into it and sell yourself short - find the club that will let you do your job properly. I look forward to you finding that club as I will then have a new second team. I hope one day you may return to SE7 to finish the job you started, without having all your tools stolen half way through.
Well Chris it's been an eventful journey. It started with major changes and has ended with major changes. One thing i will be forever grateful for is the promotion season. Not for the fantastic feeling it gave me at the 15 away games (1 loss), but for the way it has inspired my daughter (12). She came with me to 10 away games that season and it has forged an alliance that i never thought possible. Growing up in Sheffield it was unlikely that i would support the Addicks, but my dad persevered and took me to all the lower league northern grounds. In your promotion season i took my daughter to watch football for the first time. I bought her a shirt which she wore with pride and Charlton have given her that feeling that no other club ever will. It is down to you and the team that you built, that made Charlton feel like home again.
She was so proud to go back to school after winning at Hillsborough two weeks ago to tell how she saw you swing from the crossbar. How much things can change in football in such a short time. Thanks for the memories. I sincerely hope you will be back one day. I don't care what anyone thinks, you're still the only man that has made me cry tears of pride. Stay well and don't let this ending get you down. You're a great bloke and will always be a LEGEND.
It is sad that we can no longer refer to Chris as our leader as he represented our club better than anyone else ever could. He will forever be one of our own and the best times I have experienced supporting this club are down to him and his attention to detail as a manger & player. Futhermore the effort Chris put in off the field was exemplary and many fans are grateful for such effort from such an infulential figure to us all at the valley. All the best Chris,
