Let down by the Board, the pitch, the players. You can do so much better than this Chris. Good luck and whatever club you choose next time will be followed closely by me and my family.
If you have any decency Murray you will resign. Yoiu have stabbed Chris in the back.
I know there are many of us that appreciate what Chris has done for this club.
I will personally see he gets this thread to appreciate the depth of gratitude, so if, like me, you want to pass on your thanks, please do so on this thread, or copy and paste into it any of your relevant posts.
(ps. This is not a thread for debate, every other one is for that. It you are pleased by this decision, please respect the intention of this thread and use another, thanks)
First of all Chris, thank-you. Every fan likes to think their club is special but few can point to someone who embodies why that is. We have been lucky enough to have that figure at the helm, bringing universal respect even among our rivals. Regardless of what happens to Charlton over the next few years, that respect for you will certainly remain intact - inside and outside the club.
Rarely in modern football, you have made us proud not just of our team, but of our club's values. Regardless of recent results I'm always genuinely proud to tell people who I support, not least because I know they'll have something positive to say about the club. Regrettably that may not be the case in the immediate future. But I feel sure you'll be back, just as you have been away as a player. Hopefully then you'll be allowed to build the legacy you truly believe in - only the naive can judge someone managing with his hands tied behind his back.
Please don't be embarrassed Chris by these pages of outpouring - they only represent what your dignity, passion, and achievements deserve. Your personal qualities speak volumes but you have also given many of us who've travelled the country for decades some of our very happiest footballing memories; 101 points is rarely achieved by any team, let alone Charlton!
But I suspect the sadness so many of us feel isn't directly about what happens on the pitch. It's more about losing - just for now! - someone who we know from his own actions is truly one of us. I feel sure your name will be sung long and loud at tomorrow's game - it will be by me. We will of course support the players too, as long as they continue to give the level of commitment you always brought out in them, though I guess many of the familiar faces will be gone too before long.
Find yourself somewhere you can make your own decisions Chris. Do well again, then come back home when the time is right, and show us what you can really do. My two young boys will be a little older then, and I genuinely cannot think of a better role model.
Until then, thank-you very much from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks Chris - a true Charlton legend. So sad that it's been ended by a new owner who doesn't give a damn about the club that you and thousands of supporters love. Come back when this joker has returned to that footballing powerhouse called Belguim.
The King is Dead...Long live the King. Thanks for the memories. In my eyes, you're a Charlton legend. Was, is and always will be. Tqake care and good luck
When you watch matches on TV you always see the Manager give a brief wave to the fans,a handshake to the opposing Manager and then head straight down the tunnel. Chris not only shakes the hands of the opposing management but he acknowledges the opposing players after the match and always stays back to acknowledge the fans. Sheer class. More than can be said for the new owner and his bunch of Belgian buns. Until the end of the season we should be singing Chrissie Powells Read and White Army from start to finish.
Thank you Chris. One of my favourite ever players and without a doubt, my favourite manager. I have some great memories of the last two full seasons that will stay with me as an Addick for many many years.
From a supporter of almost fifty years' standing - You have my great gratitude, warm affection and huge respect, Chris. One treasured vignette: away at AFC Wimbledon in the pre-season friendly last summer, you had your young son (I presume) with you in the dug-out, wearing a Bayern Munich shirt. A Wimbledon sub walked past you along the touchline: you reached out to give him a friendly pat and he turned and beamed a smile. Just a flash of your warm humanity; I especially admire you for all your good work for the PFA.
I will never forget the fevered excitement of our promotion party: the Red Devils parachuting on to the pitch, the opera singers, the officials and Hartlepool players forming a guard of honour - and Yann's geometry-defying volley for the third goal to send us into wild delirium.
Very best wishes for the future, Chris - may you have many more triumphs that spur you to swing from the crossbar! From Nick.
Mr Powell you are and always will be a legend at Charlton. I am devastated that you have left but you have done so much for this club. I was so proud to see you in the dugout on Sunday as I have been everytime since you became our manager. The fact other managers never have a bad word to say speaks volumes. You are a good man and a credit to our football club.
Thanks for returning our Charlton to us for the time you were with us. You did a superb job in what were often very trying circumstances. You always had time for us supporters and one of my cherished memories will be having met you at Sparrows Lane when we had a Valley Gold visit. The recent weeks must have been very difficult for you and your family and I thank you for sticking through it and I wish you health and happiness for the future. I think you are best off out of it and hope you find a better football club.
Thanks Chris, you did the best you could with what you had and that's all anyone can ask. Club legend, great man and a bright managerial career ahead if given the right opportunities.
Thank you Chris, it was truely a joy to support a team where you could really feel how much the club meant to the manager. I believe you will go on to achieve great things, and I hope one day this includes leading Charlton out in the premier league. You were the personifcation of pride and passion when it came to this club and i am sorry to see you go. Go and show the world what a great manager you can be.
So long Sir Chris and thanks for all the good times. There haven't been too many these last 10 years or so but what there was, was largely down to you. There's precious few like you left in the gamer these days so hope this doesn't change your love for the game or for us. I 'm not normally an old softy but I'm gonna miss those smiles and leaps out of the tunnell. My very best wishes to you. (and the rest of your team) and wish you every success in whatever you do. Our loss will definately be someone else's gain. Top player. Top manager. Top bloke. CHRISSY POWELLS RED ARMY FOREVER!!!
Thanks Chris, I saw your debut at Newcastle and knew then you had real class! You have gone on to prove to be both a player and leader of which reflects the values of the "real" Charlton Athletic. I admire you for sticking to your principles in your discussion with the board. In your three years, we were Champions of Div 3, finished in the top ten in Div 2 and got us to the quarter finals of the Cup. Need I say more A true gentleman Thank - You Chris p.s. do come back again
You can hold your head very high Chris and be proud of what you achieved under very difficult circumstances. I hope you will always be one of us and that this hasn't made you feel badly about our great club. I, like many have criticised some of your tactics, but that was because I never wanted to see this day when you lose your job as Charlton manager. You still have a fine career ahead of you. Thank you and good luck for the future.
We will never forget how you took the club out of League 1 and a dark place with a record breaking 101 point season and all the hard work and love you have put into Charlton. You deserve better than this club due to the way it is being run right now. Good luck in the future as we all know you will go on to be one of the best managers in the country.
It might not seem like it now ,but I'm sure the 'experience' you've gained here will help you on the way to future success. You deserved much much better and I am embarrassed to say you have been let down badly by this football club. Your ability to stay calm and level headed in the face of such obvious adversity is a credit to you. Keep doing what your doing Chris and I sincerely wish you all the very best in any future endeavors. Thank you
Thanks Chris. I remember where I was when I heard of your call up to the England squad. Tears were shed and we were all so proud of you. I was behind the net when you scored against your beloved Spurs. You gave us our Charlton back for a too brief time. Good luck for the future you deserve to be treated better than you have been recently. You can look in the mirror and be proud. I wonder if some of those players can?
Many thanks Chris - when you were give support by the Board you more than demonstrated what you could do, and the manner which you have handled yourself over the past year or so when you didn't speaks volumes for you as a person and your loyalty to Charlton. I'm sure you would want the fans to continue to support Charlton going forward and the best think we can do is to do just that. Perhaps we could start a new song of "score a goal for Chrissy Powell" - though I'm not sure that Belgians do irony.

Thank you for the highs throughout and giving me some of the highlights of my Charlton supporting life.
Thank you for welcoming me to Sparrows Lane on two separate occasions and being honest, open and a fan.
You came back as a player once before, I hope you come back as a manager in the future under better circumstances.
You did a fantastic job. More importantly you did it with pride, passion and dignity. The respect people have for you is tangible and fully deserved.
I was lucky enough to have met you when you came to the school I work at and gave freely of your time and advice.
I know you will be a huge success in the future and will follow your career with interest.
Thanks again.
