Evina tweeting about home fans racist abuse

  • Saw a bloke making monkey gestures in the north lower.
  • He was seriously lacking in confidence, so apart from it being unacceptable in relation to decency, it was incredibly stupid too in terms of helping the team. Glad I didn't witness it as I might have been ejected and banned for fighting. Learning of this has made me even lower after yesterday.
  • Go back 30 years and look at the support now.
For people to say they don't like the way our club is going, if the could have been transported back into the covered end they will see how far it has come.
  • I wish I could have heard the fella dolling out abuse and lumped him, twat, trouble is we all get tarnished with it.

I was having to explain the other day to a rep who happened to be a Fulham fan why Danny Murphys wife got so much bile aimed at her.

It's crap like this that puts me off going to football, and makes me think I've gone back in time , 30 years, embarrassing and unnecessary.
  • Yesterday was an eye opener. Someone behind me shouted racist abuse in the first couple of minutes and I couldn't point fingers as I wasn't sure who said it. Was in NW quadrant. I saw danny green pointing from the tunnel to a steward and for what I find out was a separate incident. Also saw a guy covered in blood getting escorted from the north stand. I don't get to games that much and not sure I'll bother in future. Disgusting. What has my club become?
  • I 'liked' Greenie Junior's post, but take it back in the cold light of day, was so frustrated with Evina's performance. Good on Green for reporting. Typical of the stewards if they got the wrong bloke.

  • Bit like the two morons having a punch up in north lower food bit by family entrance. Fucking blood, everywhere,on one . Scared he hell out of my 6 year old . All over nothing as well.

    Dickheads

Apparently the man in that green pointed out was jumping up and down imitating a monkey. I sit about 3-4 rows in front of the where it took place and didn't hear any racist chants or comments.

I hope they catch the bloke who done it and ban him for life.

  • Racism exists, yes it sucks and is terrible, yes the fan deserves to be banned, but going to Twitter to complain about it Evina? That's just dumb.

I guarantee the reason he deleted it was because the club told him to.

Looks like AmericanAddick had been flagged for abuse twice on this, and then banned - which is absolutely over the top if thats the case.

    Violence is NOT the answer.

I think you'll find that it's a lot more than that, over the past few weeks we have had a quite a few posters that have been coming on here glorifying in all the negativity and using it to push people's buttons and rattle a few cages, I think the moderators on here have been watching and taking notes and have started clamping down and removing people that are continually causing unrest amongst other posters. It can't be an easy job monitoring and filtering the masses of angry fans, probably doesn't make it any easier when people question their judgement.

Given his contribution in other threads, I think they just got fed up with him trolling. This may or may not have been the last straw.

    He was a blatant troll

Calm down, I take it back but at the same time as posting it, I didn't know there was a club statement.

    .
  • Maybe trying to deflect the fact that he played shit?

Sounds to me like the kid can't take criticism.
    Sounds like blaming the victim.

No it isn't. It's (AA's post) basically blaming Evina for being racially abused and criticising him for daring to speak up. That is against everything Charlton should stand for. I don't think it's a permanent ban, but wouldn't complain if it was.
He hasn't blamed him for being abused at all. He took a stand against the way he came out with it on Twitter, hinting that there are maybe better ways of dealing with it (which I agree with), and then commented as to why he possibly deleted it. Can't see how that is "abuse"

''That's just dumb'' is offensive at the very least, Evina CLEARLY complained to the officials as well (hence the club statement), that much is clear, why should he NOT complain on twitter also? No reason he should just suck it up silently. And saying he only deleted it because the club told him to... the implication is the club don't back him on this, which again, they obviously do.

And I'm not claiming that AA personally was abusive to Evina, merely insensitive at the least. The morons at the ground WERE abusive, it's that simple.

He hasn't implied that the club wasn't backing him at all. Again, you're just putting words into his mouth.

Its possible the club did ask him to do it, because they don't want it to become a national headline in the Footballing world which tarnishes our name more than it needs to be. Whether that is right or wrong is a different debate.

  • Bloke within earshot of me was joking about how our keeper could make a hut out of the mud.

Wasn't sure what to make of it in truth.
  • Your right riveria, lumping someone is not the answer, good job I wasn't their to hear it.

Sounds like a joke. Why do people have to look for a reason to be offended?

How do you feel when we play Brighton home or away do you want to lash out at our fans then.

    What was said here?
  • I am just guessing, but the mods can detect IP addresses and their general location. I'm guessing AA's may have been closer to Bexley than Boston.

    Sad, if true.

Well...put it this way, would he have cracked the same hilarious 'joke' if it had been Hamer in goal?
