Just the reason I don't jump on Millwall when it happens down there. The club (any club) can't account for a moron shouting something racist out. Would be interested to know what the abuse was.
Sad, but not actually surprised. There are lots of idiots who go to charlton now.
On a slight side note, the worst part of this is that they seem to be middle aged, as opposed to all being youngsters which would be easier to explain. We've moved three times to avoid idiots now. We've even moved stands. Last year, we moved to avoid some of our own fans who had stolen from us and we caught doing it - down the back of our chairs in the upper north! Then another guy HIT a man from our row in an argument over food from the kiosk. And finally the moved again after a full grown man shouted and swore at a middle aged lady for asking him to sit down in front of her. Saddens me.
Anyway, back to the racism. It's awful. I genuinely feel upset when I think that people can act like this. Awful, awful, awful. Hopefully they get the right guy who did it.
I don't care what you think of any given player, giving them racist abuse is just unacceptable. Race and ability are not cause and effect, you want to call players names then that's your call, as deplorable as I find it. But racism is a crime, and for good reason. No excuses, if they get hold of the guilty parties, chuck the book at them.
There is a proper tool on the Facebook link, which shows that we are certainly not without a racist (very small) minority. Shame he saw this as a chance to come out the woodwork.
Can people please stop brining Evina's performance into this. That's what the match thread is for. How he played has nothing to do with any racist abuse he received.
That's just embarrassing if it's true. Time we threw out a few of our neanderthals.
Time we threw Evina out with them.
He got totally skinned 3 times today and was lucky not to give away a goal.
That comment belongs on the post match thread. Not saying it is wrong, but dont take the focus away from what is in the grand scheme of life a much bigger and wider issues.
Did not hear a thing apart from Evina your shit........fair comment i thought. Just hate when people bring the colour of your skin into life. If he was abused and i can only imagine it being a sad lonewolf , let the club ban for life.
Sounds like there is some confusion over what happened, which I trust will come out in the wash of the police investigation. If there is a case to answer, hope the book is thrown and a lifetime ban ensues.
And I totally agree that this thread has nothing to do with performance on the pitch. That's a separate issue, and it should be kept that way.
Hope those that saw the wrong person get taken away have told the club/police. An innocent guy getting nicked for racist abuse it's not good
If this is true, then it would also be nice if the person who was actually responsible for the abuse came forward rather than let an innocent person take the rap (fine/lifetime ban?) – but as someone has already said he “left suddenly and moved elsewhere” as soon as the stewards removed the ‘wrong’ guy – so he’s unlikely to have the courage or decency to do so.
The same applies to those who probably know who he is.

Absolutely disgusted by a 'so called' fan who can only be described as scum. No room what so ever at this football club for racist people like that. It's made even worse by the fact that our manager is black. Hope this person is banned for life. Disgrace!
I really hope it is not the wrong guy apprehended, but I believe the balance of probability is that Evina was subject to racist abuse.
I am reluctant to post on this matter after last week, where I questioned why criticism at Charlton, how shall I put this, has to go from the merits or not of a player/manager into the same chambers of mindless abuse that also house the racists.
We can have an impassioned debate about, or reaction to, how people work at Charlton, but when reason gives way to dogs abuse it is simply vile. And when matters of race are introduced, there can sometimes be an almost morphic spread of it amongst a crowd who will be quick and ready to jump on and join in.
Sometimes our racist problem is out in the open, like the Fulham situation, or apparently today, but sometimes it bubbles under and seems to inform the vitriol handed out to certain people. At least that's how it appears to me, but some would say I am too sensitive about such stuff. It's all only banter I get told.
What would balance things out is if we could somehow try, at least just try, to use reason as to why we hate or like this or that rather than mindless abuse. The people who work for us at Charlton may be excellent, may be useless, but they are likely to be someone's brother or sister, son or daughter, father or mother, and we as Charlton fans surely have the class to realise that, and we ought to restrain the 'red raw' inside of us as much as we can.

I was right in front of the fan that was escorted out. He was innocent, and the fans around tried to alert the "A" team stewards, by identifying that actual culprit a couple of rows further back. But the stewards wouldn't listen. After they left, the fan that had identified left suddenly and moved elsewhere.
I saw the guy that got thrown out, he walked out shaking his head so maybe they did get the wrong man

Nothing sinister.

i was told less than 2 hours ago it was Danny Green who told the stewards
They got the wrong guy and that was by one of the people who actually gave his name to OB out side -----wrong guy and directed at Danny Green ?
But there is no place in society for it
or are we are we talking about one person ? get some fecking perspective.

I guarantee the reason he deleted it was because the club told him to.
