  • In my opinion, people are far too quick to jump on jokes / observations / adjectives and label them as racist..... but it annoys me when the same people become selective as to when they are 'outraged'
  • I think it was classed as racist but I'm not really sure why as it seems more of a put down of someone of the same race than an out and out racial slur. I've never heard a white person refer to a black person as a choc ice (not to say it hasn't happened).

However, regardless of where we might find racial slurs, none of them justifies any racial abuse Evina may have recieved, crap footballer or not.
  • Im backing out of this thread

  • It's all about intent surely, to me it sounds like a throwaway jokey comment from Evina whilst watching Saturday night tv i doubt he genuinely has a problem with "Chocolate Chasers" as he would put it.
  • That's me done too Dizzle, feeling like I should have stayed out of it...............
  • A friend of mine sits near and knows the guy who was arrested. He says they definitely got the wrong man, and it was indeed someone sitting a couple of rows behind him. The guy they arrested isn't even a fan, he just goes to keep his wife company as she's the fan.

Apparently Green signed a police statement saying the guy he pointed to was the one who made the racist comment. I know some people have tried to contact Green to tell him he got the wrong guy. So hopefully common sense will prevail and the right guy gets caught and charged - and hopefully some goodwill gesture from the club to the guy who was wrongfully arrested.

  • Blimey, people love to find something to be offended about.

Personally, I can think of plenty of worse things to get upset about.

Could be a good 'should of gone to specsavers' advert.
  • The racist abuse on benefit st last night from a black man to a black man was just more disgusting to me to hear as it carried more anger and vitriol than from the ignorance of others whom may need educating more

Just goes to show that all colours and creeds are ignorant at times

Perhaps that's why Green can't pick out his own players

  • Can someone clarify what that white woman (Jenny Baker) who raised cash for a homeless black man to go home to Jamaica is? Is she

    A) Chocolate Chaser
    B) Racist
    C) kindhearted

Green couldn't pick his own nose.

  • Some tried a very fine line on here when they ask for a fellow supporter to hung drawn and quartered for what he might of said. Then when a poor excuse for a player tweets a racist comment on tweeter he is defended very strange IMHO. Report a Charlton supporter to the O B never and over the years had I done it could be a lot worse than a spure of the moment comment

What racist comment is being defended on Twitter?

Was it the one about that racist Errol Brown and his band?

Actually his surname is racist too isn't it?

    What Leroy said.

There were a few people speaking to police outside the ground on Saturday after the game - heard at least one making sure they had his contact details - so would assume that they will have some other witnesses to help identify the right man.

Just for some context could you give us a few examples of when you would and wouldn't report a CAFC suporter to the police then? Would it be okay to 'grass' if I saw one of ours battering his missus on the way to the ground or does he get a free pass 'cos you know, he is one if ours after all?

    Very strange.

How do you know the fan was making a "spur or the moment comment"?

Why shouldn't fans and players report people to the police if they are committing a crime? Especially a crime that hurts the club.

What does it matter how good or bad the player being abused is? Would it not be OK if it was Cousins?

You think Evina's harmless joke is racist but the fan making monkey gestures is OK as it was "spur of the moment".

    As I say, very strange
    Henry the expert
What exactly did the fan do
I reported a race crime to the Police just before Christmas an d the outcome your both adults kiss and make up so not a crime the Police take seriously.
Hurts the club, so wrecking property outside Selhurst, throughing flares at the Den etc do not put Charlton in a good light but have had plenty of mention on here.
Who do you think our fans are.
We have our fair share of Racists, thugs, drunks, homophobes, fans on away days drugged up to there eyeballs.
As for his comment on twitter a harmless joke yes right but only when it suites yor pathetic argument
  • If you can't tell the difference between a bloke making a humorous tweet to his followers about a woman on the telly fancying black blokes, and a man making monkey chants at a black bloke playing football, then you are an absolute fucking pilchard.

Was it a monkey chant or comments as you know it all
  • Vincent you are getting strangely defensive of a person who racially abused another human being. Stop it, it's weird.
