Izale Mcleod. Absolute tosser in attitude as well. £1.5m. Sort of bloke I would quite happily see suffer a career ending injury for the way he played when he got his move to us (this is not being harsh at all). Thought he'd hit the big time. I remember watching him on TV against Northwich Victoria in the FA Cup defeat. I was seething.
Gary Rowett from Leicester ... didn't we about 4 million for him? He played about 8 games and retired due to injury. Mark McCammon - Just a rubbish player John Barnes - Totally past it, very overweight and out of condition. Paul Emblem - Never really broke into the first team Izale McCleod - Very excited when we signed him. Then he did nothing! Neil Redfearn - Paid a million pounds for a very old player. Waste of money Carlton Cole - Sure he was Leaburn in disguise!!! Scott Sinclair - Supposed to be the next big thing, and did nothing. Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink - Another past it player that turned up for a pay day. Dennis Rommedahl - Promised much ... didn't meet up to expectations - Although forgiven for scoring the winner at Selhurst Park in injury time.
worst attitude displayed was scott sinclair in his brief loan during pardew's most bewildering phase sinclair was very young and probably very immature 2nd worst attitude is displayed by marvin sodall plus he's really not very good so our current (very expensive) loanee takes the (dis)honour of worst player (since january 1993)
I never understood the appeal of Mathias Svensson, a striker who scored only eight goals in 90 games. Palace sold us a turkey there - big money, too.
At the time I couldn't understand why we signed him and put him straight in. I guess he never got slaughtered by the fans because we were generally doing well at the time, scored winners in a couple of tight home games, tried hard and was fairly physical.
That's not to say he gets anywhere near the worst player category because he was a decent target man and good back-up for Shaun Bartlett.
