  • She could have looked at the moaning on here, delayed naming Luzon until Thursday or Friday, claimed she had interviewed 20 candidates - would that have placated the moaners?

No because Sky Sports were all over Luzon going to the club for talks. If another 19 were not seen going in or out then it would be obvious it's another lie.
Why would the Valley be the only place on earth that interviews would take place.
In fact, some people would probably prefer to be interviewed away from the glare of publicity.

So up to 20 people would choose not to be interviewed at the valley you think? John, wake up, stop kidding yourself.
Thanks West country - yes I'm wide awake are you?
My comment about the 20 candidates was in a reply to a question which I will ask you.
She (K.M) could have looked at the moaning on here, delayed naming Luzon until Thursday or Friday, claimed she had interviewed 20 candidates - would that have placated the moaners?
Also who was on your list of suitable candidates?
Of course I doubt that anyone other than Guy Luzon (if he was) was interviewed or the job.
We were at best probably the victims of poor P.R. and spin, at worst lied to.
But In my 60 years plus of supporting Charlton we've been the victim of lies and spin at some time, by all the various Valley regimes.
That comes with being a football supporter.
as another with over 60 years of support I feel justified in saying that I think you are partly wrong. Yes most football managements lie to the supporters from time to time and so it has been at Charlton. But in the days gone by the communication systems were poor and the fans did not have he access we today enjoy. KM had use of all the modern forms of communications and she chose to tell barefaced lies, in the days of Trotter or Glilstein we rare saw them or heard from them, now it is different and the modern senior executive is trained in media response, KM knew what she is doing and blatantly lied to us.
  • It's just hugely disappointing that when we are all trying to pull together at a time our club needs it, Katrien lied to us, when there was no need!
  • Whatever in ins and outs of the truth spectrum we have on here, what is inexcusable was the shambles of the press conference.
I am no fan of spin doctors, but I thought the wider network was supposed to have a communications director or something, and my goodness yesterday needed some kind of preparation.
I thought the press conference/presentation of Guy Luzon wasn't some lovable innocent clumsiness, but a show of desperation and despair decorated by unconvincing clichés and the complete absence of any kind of agreed hymnsheet to keep the three in harmony.
It is going to be a bit of a climb back from that, which under the current circumstances doesn't seem possible....unless

    Three points at Watford
  • Did you see Bob Peeters nick a microphone about ten minutes in?!?

We deserve medals Lancashire lad for supporting Charlton for over 60 years!!
Why could we not have made life easier by supporting Man. United or the like.
I think we agree that we were probably lied to and maybe its a good thing that Glikstein and co. did not have modern communication.
I'm at a loss to name a manager that I think would bring much needed success to the Valley.
But more importantly, a manager or head coach who would work within the constraints of R.D's network.
  • Lengthy interview with KM in Evening Standard tonight
  • "He does it his way and the fans need to accept that" KM
  • Unless I really am mistaken

    Does it actually matter
  • "We are investing in Charlton. I feel the fans sometimes forget that" KM

  • There you are i've changed that for you.

  • What shes largely says is put up and shut up - you'd have gone bust without RD
  • From the Sub-Standard interview:

"We have improved a lot from last year and it is up to us to prove to the fans that we do not only want to bring in imports from Standard Liege.”

"Luzon was due to meet the players and take training for the first time today and he has held discussions with Meire about plans for the transfer window."

  • "We are investing in Charlton. I feel the fans sometimes forget that. At the moment, they only notice the results on the pitch. But it is not only in the squad we are investing in. We are going to build a training ground and build for the future."

“We do not want Charlton to lose their identity. We want success for Charlton and they need to be patient. We have improved a lot from last year and it is up to us to prove to the fans that we do not only want to bring in imports from Standard Liege.

Some decent points in that interview to be fair, but the bit in bold is my highlight. Good that they have recognised the need to give us proof, and good that they have said so publicly.

Maybe, hopefully, the shitstorm on here and elsewhere in the past few days has given them a much needed kick in the proverbials.

Jolly good because if Guy wants to play his long ball game he does realise that we don't have a target man doesn't he? Yeh of course he must. :-0
  • We are being asked to trust in what they're doing. Yes, and put up or shut up.
    That's about it.
  • I didn't see anything worthwhile in that interview. Aside from the usual media-savvy platitudes such as judging them by results and how decisive they are (what does that mean exactly?), she's saying Duchatelet has a plan, he thinks it will work and he's sticking to it regardless.
  • She's said what you'd expect her to say.

And what her boss wants to hear.

A start would be nice. Just don't believe anything she says. She has addressed her lies. Can't wait for Roland to sell us.

  • I don't have to accept anything Meire. I have voted with my feet and will not go to another Charlton first team game until they are gone. I will still support the U21s and U18s as I have always done. Welling United will receive my custom. I have handed over my Charlton season ticket to somebody who wants to come, but can't afford it. They will be Dick Plumb for the rest of the Season. I will always support Charlton as I have done for fifty three years, but the Belgians will not get another penny from me.

It's not Murdoch is it Dick? Or should I say the bloke who was purporting to be him yesterday. You haven't got to spend another penny mate it's already been spent. See the season out and and then take stock.

And if we sign no one, she can say it is because Luzon didn't want anyone.

But the evidence is overwhelming! Nah, she wouldn't lie to us would she?
  • KM can do one. I was on her side and appreciated that she appeared to be mucking in as it were, selling programs, attending meetings etc.
She clearly lied to everyone about the proposed interviews and got caught out, now all of a sudden we should all shut up and accept it.

Yes, he brought in some new seats and fixed the pitch and I appreciate it. The feeling I get is what everyone suspected from the start, we are now nothing better than a second rate Standard Liege. RD is fixing the academy and as soon as any players of worth emerge, guess where they will be heading?
