She deals with Competition Law, which relates to regulating anti-competitive conduct by companies. Here in the US it is called Antitrust Law and is essentially relates companies doing actions that give them an unfair advantage over competition.
So she's more than likely here to make sure that Rolands network remains in compliance with British, EU, FA, UEFA and FIFA rules and regulations

Not saying that I haven't but happy to wait and see how things develop. Some good and some strange things so far.
....Oops I just assumed...
She puts out a PR statement trying to lift people and steady the ship and the next day she is made to look silly by Bob being sacked.
Now, it could be that BP was going anyway, she knew and she just lied.
I think it more likely that she either didn't know that was the plan or the decision was made suddenly after Brighton and so events catch up with her. I don't know which.
Welcome to the world of management Katrien. Sometimes your role is to be the flack catcher. You won't be the first Charlton CEO to be left out to dry like this and I doubt you will be the last.
My only hope is that this incident doesn't put you off communicating more often and in more detail. The more times you get it right the less people will comment on the times you don't.
It's all smoke and mirrors as far as i can tell.
Never mind we do have a lovely new pitch.
Of course it's also possible that Roly asked Meire to merely interview Luzon and other potential candidates will be seen in the coming days/weeks/months. I wonder though who actually gets the final say here, Meire or Duchatelet? It wouldn't surprise me if they decide to see some more potential candidates in the near future knowing that Luzon will get the job anyway, but think they have to see others to pay lip service to the disgruntled fan base. I'm of the opinion it's a done deal and in time, Luzon will be announced as the new man.
It may be that there are some other areas of enterprise within a football club that others would be more suited to, and it is beholden for RD to either address those areas or not bother.
She won't be the first or last club CEO/Chairperson/Owner to say one thing about a manager on day one and do the opposite on day two. In fact that behaviour seems more like normal practice these days.
Personally, I believe Luzon was contacted last week when the rumours first broke on that Israeli website so I think it is a lie, or at least a bending of the truth, to say that Bob's continued employment hadn't been under consideration before the Brighton result. I wonder how early these programme articles are written in order to meet printing deadlines- could it have pre-dated the Luzon rumours breaking? I've lost track of timelines here.
Regardless, it is entirely possible that there had been an intention to give Bob more than one more game to turn it around but things can change very quickly in football.
Was the performance vs Brighton so bad it changed their mind?
Was there another dressing room bust up that they felt Bob mishandled or even a senior players revolt/ultimatum?
Did Roly call Bob directly for a chat and they had a row and Bob got the boot on the spot?
Or did they have a chat and come to a more amicable agreement that it wasn't working out (unlikely as it hasn't been described as 'mutual consent')?
It's also entirely possible that Roland told Katriene one thing and then did something different himself. This would be concerning if he's not even being straight with his own senior management, but in the absence of facts or reliable sources to the contrary we can't rule anything out.
As usual though, the situation is not as black and white as most message board dwelling football fans would like it to be. I'm not personally inclined to give KM a hard time over this as anyone who has worked in middle management will know that from time to time you may find yourself in a situation where you tell employees or clients one thing in good faith, only to have to back track because your bosses change their mind or tell you something you hadn't previously known. She is yet another inexperienced person of potential at the club in a role that is fairly new to her and, like anyone else learning on the job, mistakes will happen. Lets hope she learns from it and it doesn't become a habit.
