  • I am...completely see why u doubt it but he didnt want MS...equally the way we were going into the season CF wise, he wasnt going to refuse a body

not a SCP or mgmt team signing, was a TJ one

How do you know that? Or is it just speculation?
  • Scp....its more than speculation but sorry og course i will give the usual "i cant say how i know"

I dont want to be inflammatory so people can take it or leave it

SCP's quote about Ajdarevic from today's SLP.

'He is a midfielder that can play a couple of roles'said Powell.

'He can be just off the striker as a number 10 or in front of the back four.He is a good passer of the ball-long and short-and pops up with a goal here and there.

So where does he play for us then, and at the expense of who. Going on the above, they are effectively our two best players (Kermorgant and Cousins).

Kermorgant can be pushed a bit further up the pitch to play alongside a number 9 like Church, but without that no.9 you will have no one making runs, getting behind, stretching the back 4. So i can't see him playing in a false 10 position unless Kermorgant is not playing.

The 'in front of the back 4' i can only see occurring in a 442 unless it is at the expense of Cousins, or by us switching to a 451 with two holders at the base of midfield, or in a 433 which we have never played under Powell.

Anyone else got an thoughts ?

Maybe he wants to give Cousins a rest? He is still young remember. Or perhaps a change of formation?
  • For us to have a 2million Euro player in our squad seems ridiculous considering how desperate we've been in recent months.
  • How is Hamer with 6 months on his contract and a second choice keeper at the 5th bottom Championship team worth £400k? Who would buy him? Outside the PL and a small handful of top Champ clubs no one has any money so I reckon a even with 2 years on his contract he would be worth nowt.
  • Probably right there

There's definitely room for the extra body in the midfield squad. Hughes and Gower seem beyond their best years, Jacko has been a little bit injury prone recently and Pritchard sometimes struggles physically when played in the centre. Beyond Stephens and Cousins there isn't a huge amount of quality cover and it wouldn't be a shock if either lost form given their previous inconsistency and youth respectively.

  • Someone on Facebook just posted that we signed the GK from Liege
  • he is meant to be a very good keeper, does this mean alnick or hamer are going i wonder i would say hes better than both of them. The only fact hes getting loaned out is that he is too good to be a number 2
  • Maybe one of the Bens is going the other way?

    That's a viscous slur ;0)

  • Yohann Thuram follows Astrid Ajdarevic to Charlton Athletic. French Standard lends the keeper until the end of the season. If Eiji Kawashima Sclessin leave - he would like in Italy or Spain to work -. Thuram gets a chance next season as first goalkeeper in Rouches The negotiations are in the final straight. Thuram has been a time asking for a temporary transition. Standard is willing to cooperate. The 24 year old Yohann Thuram was last season in the French Ligue 1 under the crossbar. He did well at Troyes, but the club did not ensure conservation. In late July he signed a four-year contract at Standard. Due to the strong performance of Kawashima Thuram was little playing time. At Charlton he will struggle to the death with Ben Hamer (26) and Nick Pope (21). The Addicks recently came into the hands of Roland Duchâtelet and stand on the nineteenth place in the second division, which has 24 teams.

i wonder if its meant to say that or the translations wrong haha

  • No mention of Alnwick in that article. I wonder if that means he is going the other way? Hope not!

Totally. And Giwer btw is being overlooked for Lennon on the bench some weeks so that says everything we need to know.
  • Strange Gower hasn't even made the bench, did alright for us last season and more recently in the draw with Forest. I suppose Powell doesn't see him as an option in a 4-4-2 and isn't really someone that can make an impact from the bench.

Yes I agree but surely he'd be a good bet if we were chasing the game and needed some creativity? He can play a killer ball.

Lennon is centre back cover when on the bench - so not really a player that would keep a midfielder like Gower out of the matchday squad.

And Dervite can cover both CB and midfield, especially with his height and strength on the heavy pitches around right now. Another reason that Gower may not be preferred, apart from the 4-4-2 that CP is generally favouring right now.

Possibly, but does he have the legs to get into the positions to play that sort of pass? Has usually sat back for us.

I read somewhere that he is retiring at the end of the season as he cant hack it now.

That means nothing mate, so was Luke Varney !
  • Nice to have another keeper.
  • When it's on the OS
  • We now have 3 decent keepers. Can any of them play up front?
  • Best GK in France last year with Troyes apparently.
  • He is Lilian Thuram's cousin as per ilian's Wiki page. now that's pedigree!
  • wants regular football to cement his place in the World Cup squad. If he comes he'll play. Send Hamer out on loan as I rate Alnwick better.
  • If he's as commanding as Alnwick with the distribution of Hamer, then has to be worth considering. Tricky one, though.
  • Powelly didnt want alonso or sordell, so.nothing new with the owner foisting players upon SCP.

This is one of the most ridiculous posts that I've seen on here. It's great that we support our manager but just inventing a bogeyman that we make responsible for every poor signing is pathetic.
