  • Football Manager scouts rate him better than most of our current crop - has high stats for long-shots and first touch which would help our midfield play if true :p

To the tune of "can't touch this"

    that is superb mr bligh!!!

  • At the risk of sounding paranoid/raining on the recent wave of optimism - is it a little strange that there's no quotes from Chris Powell or follow up article about this signing?
The usual form is to hear from the manager with a 'he's a player I know from Leicester and he's a good pro' type message.
  • I think there is a big press conference lined up for monday or tuesday, id guess that all questions will be answered then

    Ah...fair enough.
  • 'Everton to sign Michy Batshuayi from Standard Liege for 8m'

come on roland transfer him to us on a free!

Take the money and give it to Powell

I refuse to get over excited by this and potential future loans. Can't imagine the Belgium league to be any better (if not, worse) than the championship. Some assume that because they qualify for the champions league they must be a very good team, but amateur welsh club TNS do this every year.

    I'll reserve my judgement................

I could be wrong but I don't think they qualify automatically for the CL

Good point well made, we'll see what happens with future signings, it could just be takeover confusion (although I doubt it).

Yeah Anderlecht did Qualify automatically for the Group Stages this year... Zulte Waregem who finished 2nd in the Pro League last season entered at the 3rd Qualifying Stage

TNS are a full time professional club ;-)

Yeah, realised that after I posted. Still don't make them any better than Welling/Bromley/Fleet etc.

Wouldn't shock me if pretty soon it will be us loaning players to Liege. Green would hold his own in that league................
  • looks like we've got another player from them. link taken from their official website. have included a *poor* translation

Standard met the coach in the early afternoon the press on the hotel terrace players in La Manga . During this interview , the Israeli said Roland DUCHATELET gave him guarantees to keep all its frames. Yohann Thuram by cons could be lent . Öztürk , he joined Charlton

' The word of the president is worth more than any contract ' , stated Guy Luzon. The coach does not doubt for a second that its main players will not be involved in the transfer window. Whether for Batshuayi , poku or others.

By cons , he said Yohann Thuram could leave for more playing time is known that the French keeper was poured in the French press a few weeks ago . Transferred from Troyes to become number one , he ' suffered ' the sparkling form of Kawashima .

On the bench most of the time , it obviously aspires to take the field . That's why he really wanted to try his luck elsewhere . His manager Ndyaye seeks him a club. The formula could be a loan.

In the process, we learned confirmation of loan Aspalan Oztürk Standard Charlton , the new club Roland Duchâtelet .

  • It's legit, came direct from the standard coach during a press meet.
  • Strange I was told by one person that it was off and then not long later a journalist based in Belgium also said it was off as we couldn't agree terms.

  • Depending on when this interview was it's possible the Standard Liege coach said Ozturk had joined, without knowing that Charlton and Ozturk couldn't actually agree terms.
  • I can't see a link from SL's official site. That's appears to be a newspaper link ?
  • That could very well be yep. The same source also speculates that Yohann Thuram and Reza Ghoochannejhad could be next.
  • To be clear, the coach said that this afternoon.
  • How could we not agree terms ? same owner ?

  • Hopefully he has signed, we could do with some more competition in CM.

Have to agree that this sounds a little odd, not like we would be negotiating wages with the guy.
  • I can only assume he wanted guaranteed first team football I may be wrong.
  • Well as of this afternoon the manager of standard said it was done. Maybe he is out of the loop or maybe RD made it clear to the player that he didn't really have a choice!
  • Powell still. Has a role here...

Yeah, the Belgian league is rubbish. It's not like Mignolet, Vermaelen, Kompany, Hazard, Mirales, Benteke or Lukaku all started there or anything.
  • I think it's quite a stretch to imagine that these are powell's targets......
  • Well this Ozturk sounds decent and their fans don't seem to want him to leave so I'd be pretty pleased.

I think you'll find, that Powell has always wanted to sign Standard Liege's cast offs :-)
  • I can't believe for one moment that another goalie is a target for Powell.
