  • Yes ... Comcast sold the 76ers to Josh Harris in July 2011... both crowds know their stuff when it comes to sports teams and stadia.

    Blimey
You kinda wonder why someone with sort of wealth would want to buy us, I guess the established PL clubs are too expensive, and our location in London gives more potential than say Doncaster...

    Precisely!
£200M for Fulham but £20M for CAFC and inheriting some debts... how much will it cost to push CAFC into the top six?
Here's hoping a deal is closed before Christmas so that the January window can be used to strengthen the team.

  • Does this mean we have to start liking investment bankers now?! ; )
  • They do sound way too good to be true!!

I'll answer that when we beat Real Madrid away ;-)
  • He comes across quite well in that video, more communication than TJ has even given us ; )

How am I meant to sleep now?!?!?
  • Estimated net worth of £1.5b. Just slightly less than the owner of Manure.

This is what you're looking for: dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2515257/Charlton-set-bought-American-sports-owner-Josh-Harris--CHARLES-SALE.html

I think it's time to start a new thread....
  • Yep. I'm excited again. I don't trust the Mail, to get even the date right, and after Zabeel, I should be more wary, but looks like this could be happening.

Cue another day checking the internet every five minutes.
  • Cue another day checking the internet every five minutes.

Yeah,I'm finding it really difficult to concentrate at work right now...
  • oo yes another day checking then OS will be down all holding breath then announcment we have a new stationary supplier !!! come one please push this over the line the fizz is on ice !!!
  • Does this mean we have to start liking investment bankers now?! ; )

Apollo is a private equity/LBO firm, not an investment bank. Similar to Blackstone, KKR, Texas Pacific Group etc.
  • The name has been kicking around for a week when I got told, people were asked to keep quiet about it for fear it could all collapse, interesting the Mail is being used again, used to be the place for stories to leak
  • I refuse to get excited until it's on the OS. Once bitten and all that. I certainly won't be rushing down to the ground to be interviewed by Sky Sports News...
  • I'm wondering if part of the attraction is an NBA franchise in London? Charlton Flyers anyone?

They can bring the cheer leader element in!

    Valley Sluts
  • Great question about where it will leave peoples views on slater and TJ

NSS asked me this last week, that if there was a take over and it turned out to be a very good financial deal for cafc

Its taken a while for me to digest and consider but

Then they should and would be held in terms of achievements whilst in role succesful and instrumental in helping rebuild the club from its lowest point

    Its a bit of bitter\sweet

But like HI says I will believe it when its on the OS
  • Come on the OS bring us the good news about Josh Harris takeover.

This has always been my view, regardless of potential takeovers mate. I think they've done us the world of good and if this deal comes off they will go from good to great in my eyes.
  • So not British and not Comcast then : - )

Though look who Harris bought the 76s from

Strange that the Mail have the price at 43m though
  • Exciting news, loans in January and rebuild in the summer was SLP story last week.
  • Charlton chargers here we come!

Now things seem more public, let's set out how things seemed to have panned out so far:

    - Rumours of advanced interest / due dilligence being carried out began around three weeks ago. It was believed to be an American group

    - Last week the SLP run a story on a potential takeover, which suggested it was very advanced. Potentially correct, but raised questions on full accuracy (UK group) and how the SLP got the story (it 'appears' leaked from the Charlton board), baring in mind the club banned the SLP last year for running a similar story on the Loc interest. Were they seeking to encourage a second group who had rumoured to shwe interest?

    - suggestions began to circulate that the American group were Snider/Comcast. This was then confused by others suggesting it was Harris / Apollo Shown in this thread since last night, there has already been a bit of researching done on Harris.

    - mentions of a second interested group, believe to be Germans, have continued, but with little certainty

    - suggestions earlie in the week that a takeover seemed at an advanced stage seemed premature. Not heard anything yet to suggest otherwise.

    - Mail picks up the Harris name and publishes

That I think is a fair summary of things so far that I think does not break andly confidences.

I think other 'interested parties' was just a smokescreen. Also, by the time a buyer has bought the club and paid off creditors the overall price will probably move towards the £43m number.
  • 43m was the price in the summer sales brochure

Price mentioned in SLP was 18m plus 7m director loans + 4m bank loan making 29m
