  • My old man said he's wondering if Frank Dowling (Frank the Yank) has anything to do with it. Lives in Greenwich, owns half of Greenwich and meets the profile
  • I think that although it is not directly (yet) linked to the potential takeover the subject of The Valley shouldn't be far away from any Charlton supporter.

We are not any team that may move from our ground, we are Charlton Athletic and are special because of ours and The Valley's history.

Change colours, nickname, badge or manager for all I care but our true identity lies within our historical ground.

You can't fall in love with a ground...sadly - Man City, Arsenal, Brighton have all moved successfully - why not us??
Not saying I won't go to a new ground because I would but The Valley is something very special to me. I've grown up with it in its ugly duckling years and watched it blossom into a modern area. I get a buzz walking up the stairs and being hit by the green playing surface ( yeah I know) and the thought of not going there ever again would be very sad.

  • Can we rename this thread **stale takeover rumours** please?
  • The Ontario teachers pension fund. Spend forty to fifty million, go up, then sell to the property men who can move a prem club to the peninsula.
  • The bottom is falling out of the crack market in New York as PMA and Mephedrone dealers leverage the old guard out. They're looking for new pastures. Fits the profile.
  • I'm in wheresmyticket wouldn't mind starting a crack house or 2
  • You're on, as soon as they move this bloody football team out to the peninsula. First we take the megastore.
  • Heard a rumour it's an American named Jessie Pinkman. Apparently, bit of a loose cannon, but minted I heard.

You shouldn't go breaking bad news like that ;0)

  • Don't worry Calydon road, there are a few of us that will not go quietly, in fact some of us will not go at all......
But, let us wait and see who these buyers are....... My money is on an 'american consortium'.
Do not wish to be negative, but a 'yank from a bank'......mind you it should make an interesting couple of lines for a
    covered end song?.

    .

    Thank you kenfrombexley

Obvious...must be related to Tommy Dowling, our first league scorer, and therefore must be true ;-)
  • Frank the tank. Frank the tank. Frank the tank.

Jordan cousins young footballer of the month of october.
  • According to SLP price of 18m agreed for sale of the club with new owners taking on 4m debt plus 7m to former directors the article then goes into detail about moving to the Peninsula!!
  • Cheers Frank, I think I will pop out and get myself a copy.
  • Cheers Frank, can anyone scan or photo the article.

18m figure is interesting. Almost half what was being asked in May (35m according to sales doc leaked to Sky Financial reporter Mark Klienman)

4m is the mortgage on the north stand

7m only payable if we go up and even then in stages.

Loses/investment over 3 years since takeover were estimated at 16.5m so TJ and MS make a small profit/ break even. From their point of view maybe not a great return on their investment and far less than they wanted in the summer. But that is the nature of business risk.

Assuming the deal go through of course but the six questions asked three years ago remain valid now for Charlton or any set of fans.
