Lu Ning is a 24 year old from China, he was a pro from 2014 till 2016 having won the IBSF under 21 World Championship but his 2 years on the tour was very poor in fact he only won 2 matches both 1st round qualifiers and he lost the 2nd round qualifier.

    Full statement on link below

    Edit:

David John also suspended This relates to manipulating the outcome of matches he was involved in since 2016 and failing to fully cooperate with the WPBSA enquiry.

    https://www.wpbsa.com/wpbsa-statement-david-john/

Wow , that doesn't suprise me there are some dodgy results collectively involving chinese players, would be a shame if the latter got suspended as he came on alot last year and would be pushing top 16 with a good season.
  • Someone posted this yesterday regarding the people who just missed out on tour cards yesterday:

Here is the list of all players losing their pro-status this year, after WC:

    87. Adam Duffy: still playing
    89. Craig Steadman: qualified through Q School 2
    90. Fang Xiongman: still playing (**)

    128. David John: didn't attend Q School

(*) = these 4 players compete for the same tour card.
(**) = these 2 players compete for the same tour card.
  • And into the semis we go remember these are 2 wins away from a 2 year tour card and this is there last opportunity.

    Fang Xiongman v Farakh Ajaib
Greg Casey v Thor Chuan Leong

    Kishan Hirani v Michael Judge
    David Lilley v Simon Bedford

    James Cahill v Kuldesh Johal
    Andy Hicks v Andy Lee

    Ashley Carty v Wang Yuchen
Dinesh Jain Himanshu v Chen Zhe
  • Hard to predict, wont be betting on it but prediction out of the hat :P

    Fang

James Cahill (got this far each Q School hasn't he?surely he will get over the line)

Ashley Carty (would like to see) probably Chen Zhe
  • Wouldnt rule out Dinesh Jain Himanshu
Thus year was the 1st time he entered Q School

Q School 1 he lost in 1st round
Q School 2 he had a bye in 1at round and lost in 2nd
So heading into Q School 3 he had never won a match at Q School

  • We have our final four:

Thor Chuan Leong who was on the tour last season and finished 101st after 2 years

Ashley Carty who is a 22 year old Englishman who has now turned pro for the 1st time he has 12 career centuries with a high break of 129, he got through to the 3rd round of the Welsh Open once but other than that has never been past the 1st round of an event.

  • Cheers Paulie good write up as ever, now we have a while for the new season and start with qualifiers again maybe end of month? haven't quite looked at schedule yet.

Riga Masters qualifiers start 2nd July

But for all those worried about missing my updates thanks to Mr Hearn I now have more work with the creation of The Challenge Tour
  • There are actually 129 players on Tour as James Wattana has been given a 2 year invitational tour card(now we know why he wasnt in Q School)

    Any idea why?
  • There are actually 129 players on Tour as James Wattana has been given a 2 year invitational tour card(now we know why he wasnt in Q School)

    Any idea why?
Because of who he is and what he has done to the game in Asia.

Jimmy White and Ken Doherty both went off tour last year but they also got these special 2 year invitationals and are currently in there 2nd years
  • @johnnybev1987 you spoken to Charlie Waters lately.

I noticed he is in the 1st round of the 1st Challenge tour event and wondered what he thought of it
  • Interesting start to the 1st Challenge Tour Event, considering the top 2 at the end of the seasin get tour cards.

    No Live Scores
    No Referee's
No Water for players(thats come from someone playing)
  • @johnnybev1987 you spoken to Charlie Waters lately.

I noticed he is in the 1st round of the 1st Challenge tour event and wondered what he thought of it

nope he stopped playing when i started playing, when i was 18 so our paths have not crossed. I have spoken via twitter a few times, but not properly.

Bit of a shambles first event, but hopefully its just a start and will get better.

  • Cheers Paulie...

Read this name a bit different to how it should be pronounced, i assume: Jiankang

TBH I am reserving trying to pronounce his name until I hear it,
This was his 1st match on the tour since November 2017 his only other matches were

    China Championship 2016
    Beat Ross Muir 6-3
    Lost to Stuart Bingham 6-1

    Q School 1 2017
    Lost to Steven Hallworth 4-0

    Q School 2 2017
    Lost to Fraser Patrick 4-0

    Shanghai Masters Qualification
Lost to Billy Joe Castle 5-2

He is only 19 so has time to improve and has a 2 year tour card he also got his 1st pro century in the 4-3 defeat in Riga Qualifying.

IMO I would say it was G-AN-KANG
